I really like this new Samurai, which is something I never thought I'd say. I'd love to see this dial used in the Turtles too but I must say, its killer as is. Great summer watch.

Thanks for the review. I just got the SSK005 and I am already planning my next purchase. I’ve always love the Samurai. I wish the white dial came with a bracelet. Strap code for make a nice bracelet for the Samurai.

How would you compare this against the ball engineer 2 magneto s?

They really aren't in the same ballpark. This is a big upgrade for the Samurai but I have tremendous respect for Ball. Their quality is amazing and they still provide great value. If you have the means, go with the Ball.

painted bezel? isn't it black ceramic?

Yes the bezel insert is ceramic. It is not painted to look glossy like on other Seiko watches.

He also got the case spec wrong....yes its the same base case, but the polishing is stepped up on it and the crown vs the std model.

@Marco Polo sorry, same watch. Only difference is sapphire glass(wirh cyclops) and ceramic insert.

Just bought one. Asian special for 800 bucks. I own the original turtle. The crown movement is terrible. Feels rough and cheap.

Same with my King Turtle and two King Samurais when new. However some compressed air blown on the crown threads followed by running waxed dental floss through the threads and now the crowns screw down smoothly as expected.

I am very disappointed that my new King S ST Ocean is gaining 30 seconds per day. This is almost 4 minutes per week, so once a week I have to reset it. I find it unacceptable that such an expensive watch ($600) has such low quality control. Now, for the record, nobody uses them for diving nor bets their life on them thus. Every diver uses a diving computer. I used to skydive. It’s like hearing people speak about altimeters when they’ve never opened the door of an airplane mid flight, let alone jump.

@@s7lresearchdr.311 so people should not expect things to be accurate? Explain to me how it is they can get the movement correct but can’t figure out alignment? Misalignment is a problem just like your way of thinking .
