I have the SPB151J1. I just love it. It references the original 6105, yet does its own thing. It's modern in materials, proportions, and movement. All around an excellent package.
Great review. I actually received my SPB237 last week and am really enjoying it so far. I totally agree on the difficulty in folding excess strap back under the second keeper, but what I do (and I think what the stock photo does) is pass it OVER the second keeper and then back in under itself. Very nice watch and the straps are a thing of beauty.
The textured grey dial is the one I will be getting. Absolutely gorgeous. And I usually am not a fan of a nato strap. But the ones included with the willard and on a completely different level.
Great to have you back. I have missed my regular trips to Sapporo so it's great to see your videos once again. I probably prefer the new PADI turtle or new solar PADI diver with matching blue minute hand and bezel markets rather than the Willard Cheers.
Been looking at a Willard for a while and the SPB237 made me do it. The SLA033 getting the glass wrong really bugged me. The beveled glass on the 6105 caused the minute markers to be reflected all the way around. It’s an important part of the 6105’s look and the SLA033 got it wrong (whilst getting everything else spot on). The SPB237’s fauxtina looks great to me though…and I love the green NATO…although I’m also wearing it on the SPB153’s silicone band too.
you're back! pure serendipity that i checked.... this is the most relaxing and interesting watch channel on the tube - please don't go away like that again. (hope you've been well, while gone though. we've been worried!) honestly not a huge fan of the willard. i'm more eyeing the recent 62MAS iteration with the woven strap. it really is an amazing strap. handwoven, if i'm not mistaken..? i'm looking forward to some orient content. "talk to YOU - soon."
The 237 is a great looking watch ,the nato strap just sets it off, single pass nato would make it sit perfect and using a 1.2 mm or 1.3mm strap would be even more comfortable. The metal strap is nice but the nato suits it better, and if used for intended purpose, diving ,surfing etc,if you knock it hard and lose a spring bar,you will still not lose. Original choc bar style strap or tropic would be nice to. The only downfall of the nato is the salt water and repeatedly getting wet dry. I have few so after using in water ,change to a fresh one. Olive, grey, blue, coyote .All those would look brilliant on this particular model. After seeing the video, going to be on the hunt for one . Thanks for posting up.
One thing I don't. like about the caseback is the details that is somewhat printed not engraved, so when you accidentally scratch it from time to time and decided to buff I don't. think that letters will not erased.
hey there. hope you are well. will you be coming back any time soon? your reviews are much appreciated - and missed - by us subscribers. all the best, c
I use Erika’s NATO, they sit lower, remarkably good fit... USMC colors... worth it. Question,... have you seen the Naomi Uemura (latest turtle)...date at 4pm....comes with 8L movement, costs $3100. If you think it’s a keeper, I’ve always bought the best movement.
Nice, nice watches… but Seiko persists in placing the crown in the ‘wrong’ position. For me, authentic Willards have the crown EXACTLY at 4. Until they do that on an affordable version, I will persist in wearing my Turtles.
This might be a controversial opinion, but I find it hard to justify the price jump between the SRPE93 Turtle to the SPB151/153/237 Willard. Sapphire crystal isn't/shouldn't be that expensive. I also prefer the 21,600 vph beat rate of the SRPE93 which in theory would reduce wear & tear and maintenance. I also prefer the more symmetrical aesthetics of the SRPE93 Turtle (which is why I bought one). I suppose heritage/hype drives prices up...had Martin Sheen worn the 6309 instead of the 6105 on Apocalypse Now, I'm sure today we'd see a more expensive SRPE93 with sapphire crystal and a cheaper SPB151/153/237 with Hardlex.
Holy yit, you're back! What a welcome sight . . .Been enjoying your instagram.com/watchvideoreview/ If possible, please review the (limited to 500?) SEIKO PROSPEX SBDY109 and SBDY087
I was also disappointed with how they did the keepers on the straps. My solution is to tuck mine from the outside down in, if that makes sense. It works decently, not ideal. I think that's kinda what Seiko is doing in their promo materials, it's just not very tucked in Also you really have a fantastic voice for narrating 💯
