I feel like the flutes are purposely weak and faltering, compared to how loud and triumphant the rest of the song is, as symbolism to how weak and faltering Ashina is, both the town and the man himself.
@@DivineBanana Exactly and i like how for his theme it represents that he was a legendary sword saint that for us the players have him building up too thats what makes him both scary yet amazing too fight him. His by far one of the best final bosses because this boss contains mastery that other games barely do. And you’re right the music makes it more triumphant and the flute weaker.
Genichiro,Way of Tomoe : Mortal Blade instead of Lightning Attacks (plays like his Phase 1 with 1 Deathblow left) Isshin Phase 1: Dark Mortal Blade Isshin Phase 2: Massive fucking spear and Gun, on top of Dark Mortal Blade Isshin Phase 3: More Attacks
I know this comment is months old and is a general idea of the fight. But for the people that are actually wondering the Genichiro of this fight bares more similarities to Way of Tomoe than armored Genichiro, like both Lightning and mortal blade Genichiro use a mikiri-able attack after finishing their longest sword combo and you deflect the last attack. Also both of this Genichiro will do another mikiri-able attack of you give them distance. Finally the spear isn’t any spear, it’s the Spear of General Tamura, that Isshin gives to Gyobu Oniwa (horse guy boss) and finally Isshin pulls it from the ground (great beyond) for the 2 last phases
He's such a badass, on phase 3 he is literally immortal, a sword saint, wield a giant fucking spear, a sword, a fucking gun, and learned the lightning way of tomoe, oh don't forget about the dark mortal blade. Also the red one if he take that from sekiro after beating him.
AFAIK the way of tomoe is the unnatural way to use lightning I think Geni describes it as "unholy", Tomoe basically creates the lightnings on his weapon and then throws them, which would be really dangerous, explaining why geni is full of scars and burns. On the other hand, Isshin can percieve when and where lightning will strike, then jump, offer his spear as a landing spot and throw the lightning towards the enemy. He is just that good, and it would be the point at which sekiro could eventually get to, either way, it's based on luck whether or not he gets the lightnings he needs or not. Basically, (canonically) Isshin spends his whole second phase waiting for lightning, but it just never comes. He already has all that he needs, the spear and the storm, but doesn't get lucky and lightning only comes one deathblow later.
The only reason he loses is because Sekiro is immortal too and has the red mortal blade. Isshin has the black one but he doesnt decides to use it for some reason.
"FACE ME SEKIROOO" "Ok old man I'll face one on one Mano e Mano right here right no-" *Gunshot* "WHAT THE HELL MAN MY KNEE" "For my neutral special I use *GUN* "
Genichiro: clearly younger then isshin but can only take one death blow Isshin: clearly older then genichiro but can somehow take a katana to the throat and chest 3 times
To be fair, in the fight with him in the tower he took 2 deathblows, shed his armor and could take one more. So at peak Genichiro is 3 while peak Isshin is also 3. Even.
Monarch BLUE well that’s one fight, this is another, plus like I said genichiros younger so I’d really expect isshin to be weaker but ig his experience in battle and trained him to withstand more
Saint Sword Isshin is Immortal and is in peak condition. Old Isshin on the other hand... I wish there was an Easter egg of making the fight last long and he dies of old age 🤣🤣
It was so crazy I was genuinely afraid isshin took me a week to beat, and in that week, I went to sleep at 5 AM every night trying to defeat him, and then eventually I did..
In souls games if I love any boss I'm listening their OSTs hundreds of times. But Ishhin's OST? No. Both boss fight and its OST was perfect but I didnt go to listen it even once. Strange..
In french traduction, the sword saint, is not traduced as the sword saint but as the sword master, so when he putted out a f-ing glock and a spear i was like « dat doesn’t look like a fucking sword »
