Are the holidays causing you stress? Is this the only time of the year you are taking off and now your to-do list is overflowing? Or maybe you have to work during the holidays and it's adding to an already stressful work environment. Whatever the reason, according to the American Psychological Association, stress increases during the holidays, and we should be proactive in how we deal with it. Additionally, when we serve others around the holidays who may have experienced PTSD, it is important that we are ready for those burnout signs and triggers in both our clients and ourselves, and we know what to do when they arise.
In this workshop, you will: 1. Recognize the effects of bearing witness to those who have experienced PTSD. 2. Improve the capacity to help yourself in order to better help others. 3. Walk away with practical and sustainable self-care skills.

Sommer is the founder of Sommer Neff Consulting LLC, a consulting agency that helps nonprofit organizations design impactful and sustainable nonprofit programs, build strong and effective teams, and implement grant funding strategies that help programs thrive. Prior to founding Sommer Neff Consulting LLC, Sommer spent over a decade serving in senior programming roles at some of the most dynamic nonprofits in the North Texas region, including the Salvation Army DFW Metroplex Command, where she served as the Program Manager of their domestic violence shelter; and WiNGS, where she served as the Director of Special Initiatives, which involved designing, implementing, and sustaining community college-based financial coaching programs and the region’s first women’s enterprise program for low-income female entrepreneurs. Her success navigating these very different contexts can be attributed to a deep understanding that effective programs share three common themes: quality, impact-oriented program design, great teams, and diverse funding.
