Well explained - I like how you demonstrate how to apply this in multiple situations/contexts, not simply one choreographed routine. Thanks!

most instructors show off the prowess and speed rather than attempting to clearly convey a technique. This is not true in the case of this video. Excellent explanation of the technique, best i have seen so far. I look forward to seeing what other personal defense videos this guy has to offer....great job !!

For those who find it too long, His video is one of the most basic and realistic self defence technique for physically weaker people. You can find so many other more aggressive techniques. And there is fast forward for a reason.

This is a good demonstration. I keep seeing people complain about the full detailed description. Yes, it's lengthy, but it's accurate to all his points and this is a science. If you want it dumbed down, go get yourself a hired instructor to show you in person so you don't have to be explained about this in such detail.

I like the technique used in all his vids.. clear and easy way to see and understand how to apply.. although I have taken some damage trying to apply one at times, once you get it, their mercy is in your hands.. literally lol..

Well, you almost got it right. Using the downward wrist lock, you come in under Andrew's right arm, thus locking his right arm on top of your left arm. He can't drop his arm down, to escape. It's now locked between your elbow, and your left hand. Using enough downward pressure on his left hand, you can hold him with one hand. You are on his right hand side towards his rear. He can't even reach you with his left arm or hand. Apply enough downward pressure, he'll do whatever you tell him to do, whenever you tell him to do it. You'll know when, it's enough downward pressure, he'll be up on his toes and screaming bloody murder. US Marine training, 1966................

in the first situation you could just strike right off - gross motor skill vs fine(r) motor skill. better yet pin the hand to your body then strike and follow up with wrist lock/break if its appropriate. just a suggestion; obviously you don't want to jack the drunk family member - or maybe you do : )

Mate, if someone is choking you you won't grab his hand, you break his nose

It's called discipline. And it's self defense, not attack technique.

Cataclysmm1 The second someone initiates an attack a punch to the nose is a self defense technique.

This only works if your attacker is actually moving that slow. :P

Probably one of the most confusing, over stated, and heavily worded defense tutorials ever. Too many words, too much talking. Wow.

I bet you will receibe a really god kind of punches wile you try to do this. It will works only if you are stronger that your opponent (like in this case) and if he has no idea of fighting. I don't recomend not to aply this technique unlees you move out the angle of whom is attacking .

Wow, what an far over explained mess of "questionable" techniques. If this had been a "live" seminar, I would of had to walk out (seeing that I was fortunate enough to be able to "click' forward and see that these techniques went (confusingly) nowhere) i didn't have to here.
