If you have a hammer drill, you can drill some deep holes in any huge rocks and fill 'em with water right before freezing temps hit. The ice will split 'em into manageable pieces.

A little tip,should always drain the float bowl before cranking it over when they have been sitting.when you crank it over first,your just sucking garbage fuel through the jets.

Love your channel. I just subscribed a while back. I've been riding 2 stroke MX Dirtbikes, since I was a young kid. Sadly, I never learned how to work on dirtbikes. Currently, I'm trying to learn, to save money. I don't like taking risks, when I spent 8k on a 2022 2 stroke GasGas MC 250, and having to worry about messing something up. I can do very very basic things with bikes, radiator, flush and refill, changing the motor oil, replacing spark plugs and gapping them. I'd like to learn how to work on the motor, radiator, taking tires off of the bike, and putting them back on, and servicing and replacing the brakes. I've been riding since 1978, at the age of 5, but I would be getting a very late start, in learning to work on dirtbikes, since I'm 49 years old. Lol..The GasGas is blood red, like the Honda 1988 and 1989 CR line. I was reading in the comments section of another You Tube Channel, that You and Ken Kaplan Sr and Jr should link up on You Tube, since You, Sr, and Junior would hit it off, Big Time. They own The New England Motorcycle Museum, in Rockville, Connecticut, as well as having become a new GasGas Dealership, and also restoring bikes from the frame off, with taking the engine off the frame. They also make some Custom Bikes and Restomods, and repair bikes. The vast majority of bikes, when they get done with them, look better than when they were new out of the crate. They all live by one another on a 56 Acre Compound. Just beautiful layout with a Motorcross Track on their family compound. They're Very Good and Patriotic People. They're two channels on You Tube are Kaplan America and Kaplan Cycles. They have a good following like yourself..I bought a 1985 Yamaha 2 stroke RZ 350 Kenny Roberts Edition Streetbike from them. I've had more powerful four stroke Jap Sportbikes before, but they rode very smooth...with inline 4 cylinder engines, but when you cracked on their throttle, they were quick. The Yamaha RZ 350 is a totally different ride. Much more aggressive in the sense, of when the powerband comes on the pipe. That RZ 350 was my dream bike. They restored it from the ground up, with the engine off the frame, putting in some better quality parts, then what it normally came with. I also bought the new GasGas 2 stroke MC 250 from them..They have the best customer service, that anybody could ever hope to get. I hope you contact Ken. I think y'all have a good bit in common. My step dad had a 05 TTR 230 trail bike and that thing was a good machine. Few years later a buddy of mine traded my step dad a 01 Honda CR 250 with built bottom end and a big bore kit just needed new tires. The TTR 230 came with Pirelli tires factory so if the tires on the 250 might be similar.

Your Awsome at what you do! Just a little trick. If you have a no start, spray ether in the intake and if she runs you know very quickly it is a fuel problem. I always do this when I have no starts. And if still won’t run with ether you know it’s either a spark or compression issue

Aaah the good old TTR 250 dual start. Had one for a short while here in the Netherlands. Wouldn't start very good. Had to try at least 20 times before it fired up. Low mileage, overhauled carb. Never found the issue. When it was hot, it started right up. Almost before you could push the button all the way in.

I'm not a big commenter, but just wanted to say how much I enjoy watching you work on vintage dirt bikes. If you ever get a chance to work on an old early seventies Suzuki TM 400 or any of the old TMs that would be just awesome. I got one of them new in 1972. Stupid fast with handling that was kind of low tech compared to today. It would make a man out of you or a hospital case. I guess I managed to stay out of the hospital haha.

Had the same problem on my ttr with the needle not letting enough gas in bowl, even do float high was in specs. I was getting only 1/4 of gas in the carb. Anyways Your video helped me! Thanks man

With the "new" E10 fuel we have in Europe all old bikes have problem with dryed out seals (had to replace all rubber seals from complete fuel system (incl fuel hoses), of Suzuki Bandit 1200 from 1996)... With older bikes it is now recommended to use Euro 98.

I bought my TTr250 last November for 1300. All it needed was a battery and a carb rebuild which was super easy. Super fun bike gunna put some new plastics on it soon.

Great machine !! Very intuitive fix! Did you check/change the motor oil ??

Crud city , definitely needed removing , but as you probably know just removing the drain screw / nut you can give short sharp blasts of compressed air to clean the pilot if its just old old fuel with out the crud , quick 1 second blasts won’t blow the diaphragm rubber.

when you leave fuel for a long time it breaks down into stick varnish once you clean it out with solvent it should be fixed just make sure you get all of it love the videos

Find a Honda nsr 125 supersport I owned 1 when I was 19 it was alittle beast I love it when you finally get bikes running your good at it

I have a 2006 TTR 250, my first ever bike, and it's been a pain. we got it and we were lied to, we were told that it had a new carb when in reality it only had a new needle and needle seat, even then it was sticking open and puking all over. I've had the bike apart multiple times and I've worked out all of the major kinks. I installed a new float and carb kit (which are overpriced to hell btw) and now it's better, still runs a bit lean but now I'm able to do long trips oppose to the 20 minute short distance trips I'd get before, I hope you enjoy your bike as much as I do

yeah i have buy many bikes where have set flowders in wrong place i just blow on carp and in finger push it to see what spot its let air past then its easy to just bend flowers metal.

Needle seat has a screen usually. If it’s damaged the replacement is like $40 on some carbs.

If the bike is put away for a while and stored properly then it should run good when getting it ready to ride. It just depends on how well it was taken care of when stored for long period of time and I guess the value of the bike after a few years or more so maybe you did pay more but if not to bad to get it going again then should be okay to keep or hopefully sell and get your money back

i got a 1989 klr 250 for $350. was hoping for smaller issues, but the engine has way low compression. + the kickstarter is slipping. gotta adleast rebuild the top end, but i might have to tear it all the way down for a complete rebuild. i would be more excited over that if i hade more room to work.

Bikes have gone up in value, I used to buy bikes like that for 350 to 500 quid in England back in day but most off them were stolen and recovered no numbers on frame etc, I bought a gas gas it kept on cutting out it had a air lock in the cap on the petrol cap I bought it from a shop and it had a rubber thing in the cap for some reason an it stopped it breathing it puzzled me for a bit

I had a 2000 TTR250. Bike was unkillable if you didn't thrash it and showed it regular maintenance love. Rode it for 15 trouble free years before selling it on. Always started, always got me home. Video brought back memories. Thanks.

You should invest in a case of carb cleaner grab one always start at gas tank go from there carb cleaner

Check your rectifier, should be charging at around 13 to 14 volts.

I'd guess the broken float mount was remounted in a very slightly different place which resulted in the needle no longer having the movement required. Or maybe I'm guessing wrong.

You are absolutely right premium gas is the trick to leaving ATV's, motorcycles, and anything that uses gas sit for a while. I put nothing but premium in my quads, motorcycles, and other equipment, & sports car, never had a fuel issue when using premium.
