Cassandra Thurswell was raised in a small town in Wisconsin, where the local drugstore only sold black hair ties and bobby pins and her and her three sisters had to drive over an hour to get anything more stylish. Always a dreamer, Cassandra vision-boarded and journaled a future of success and creative fulfillment for herself. When she dreamed of what kind of business Kitsch would be, she knew she wanted to build a company that offered affordable, accessible, and ultra-fashionable beauty products. She started with hair bands, made by hand at her apartment kitchen table and sold door-to-door in her neighborhood. Customers loved them, and eventually Cassandra started attending trade shows and expanding her product line to more products that supported a healthy hair care routine. Now, eleven years later, Kitsch is a company that makes millions of sales every single month. They have over 250 products, they support a number of charity, sustainability and give-back efforts both nationally and locally and they have grown over 1,300% in the last 5 years, which they say they owe to Amazon, FBA, their Seller Central business reports and their customer reviews. Kitsch aspires to be the customer’s best friend in beauty, and from one hair band to their hair care empire, they represent this year’s Accelerate theme of Growth.
