After hearing the report from the appliance repair man, it's possible that the sellers did scam the buyers. Several things did not lineup: 1. The sellers said they "STAGED" an office with the refrigerator. A refrigerator does not need to be operable for a "STAGED" event. 2. The sellers claimed it was "NEVER USED," even though they pull a block of ice from it, while showing it to the buyers 3. The block of ice could easily have been STAGED!

Also, the seller said mom bought it from a contractor that staged a home with it. Seller should have made a note of that on the advertisement. I feel like the judge should've awarded the spoiled food. If I put my food on ice for a few hours expecting to come home with a NEW fridge, then I get home with a hot fridge. I have to scramble to find a way to store my food that has already been out for a while. For safety reasons, I might toss that food as well. I would've taken photos of the food, but I believe they still deserve that money.

Even dropping it or putting a dent in wouldn't cause the compressor to be changed before they got it 🤦‍♀️ The defendants were shady and the plaintiff was a bit hot-headed, but geez, what a mess. I never buy used appliances. And when I upgrade my appliances I just out and out gift the old ones(if still working) to anyone who night need it. If not we call the metal guy who comes and takes ut for scrap. I don't even ask for money I just say if you want it, come get it. The metal place usually pays about $25 for old appliances

It's more the repair person stating the compressor had been replaced/the unit had been scrapped, over whether they "didn't let it settle". Plus, Defendant looked pretty calm when the Plaintiff was testifying that the compressor was switched out, the unit was previously scrapped, etc. It was actually not a surprise to her AT ALL. If it was, she would at least show SOME kind of emotion. And, the first thing she would say when questioned should have been, "Whaaat? That unit was new!". Instead...crickets. Then she tried to claim the "mother in law" mistakenly wrote the ad and mistakenly claimed it was BRAND NEW. 😮Wowee...JM is extra salty towards both sides today. Calling the Plaintiff a liar(!) when she doesn't really know what they did is a bit harsh.

I’ve seen a couple of these “just buy new” comments and they are absurd. $950 vs. $3k is not a “just buy new” comparison. I would argue that there’s logic in buying a cheaper fridge to begin with if you’re on a budget and not a savvy craigslist buyer, but many people have great luck buying things used for a fraction of new price when they’re careful. I buy a LOT of stuff used, but I’m very savvy and know how to make sure I don’t screw myself. But the end result is that I get a lot more for my money. “Just buy new” as a mentality really only starts to apply when you start having real money.

Laying a fridge on the side causes the oil and refrigerant to mix and upon start up leave the compressor without oil. You must let them sit 24 hours so oil can separate from refrigerant. The judge always says if there are going to be problems when you go to pick up property, have an officer go with you. One time, i had to get something back from someone who was already spreading lies. I had contracted a friend as a witness, but the friend backed out. I called the sheriff's office, and an officer flat out said it would be a waste of his time.

LG fridges are well known as junk. I bet the defendants either bought it, it broke and was covered under a warranty with a new one, the old one was just left so they got it fixed and sold it OR, they just bought a warranty return from a junker and tried to have it fixed. Either way they lied and that is why nothing that happened afterwards like transporting it improperly matters,

I'm thinking the plaintiffs may have lost $400 in food. But, it's their own fault for losing it because they didn't put it in proper storage to keep it cold enough. So, they're still out of $400 worth of food, but on their own cost. So, I don't think it was right to call them liars. Just saying.

The plaintiff may have committed a crime. Ordering the defendant's wife to "stay here while your husband goes and gets my money" is considered false imprisonment. Any person who intentionally restricts another's freedom of movement without their consent could be charged for false imprisonment.

You can lay a refrigerator on its side doing transport. But you cannot plug it in for at least a day. You have to give time for the refrigeration and the oil to spectate. If you don’t you can damage the compressor.

I've only watched a minute or so, but washing machines, fridges, dishwashers don't like being transported on their side as it can damage them. All of these items (even new washing machines) can have a bit of water in them from testing . I've always bought brand new fridges / freezers / clothes dryers as a lot are selling their used problem to someone else.

You can get your money back if they misrepresent what they're offering. If the seller claims it's brand new or never been used, and it's a clear lie, that person gets their money back. Other than that, AS IS, you ain't getting shit.
