In this latest installment of self-publishing advice Dave & Max help an author understand 3 ways they can sell copies of their paperback or eBook from their website.
Firstly we look through the concepts of leverage, PDF vs ePUB, website foot-traffic, Amazon algorithms and print on demand technology. These concepts will frame the solutions we cover.
Then comes the exciting bits =
Method 1 - We look at simple hyperlinking your website directly to Amazon
Method 2 - We look at integrating your website with a shopping cart and payment gateway.
Method 3 - Well I guess you just gotta watch for that one ;)
I really hope you enjoy the video - Please let me know - if gives me the warm & fuzzies to know that these sorts of sessions are appreciated ♥
♥ Dave & Max

Dear David and Max, thanks for so clearly setting out your thoughts on how to sell books from one's website. Well presented and for the 'electronically' not so enlightened easy to follow. You provide a wonderful service. With regard to Amazon, I am not so sure whether an author in South Africa actually earns 70% royalties. That rate appears to apply to Central Europe, the Americas but excludes most countries on the African continent.

You are 100% right. Where a reader from the "3rd World territory" makes a purchase often an author is forced into earning a 35% royalty, regardless of whether they selected the 70% option or not :(

@@self-publishing and I believe, postage is added as well which reduces your so-called 'profit' to a pittance. These additional charges are buried in amazon's small print.

@@wanderlustinfo9633 Just remember that postage is not applicable to the eBook version. Also, for the paperback version, this cost is funded by the reader directly and is not something you will need to pay as the author :)
