if it was a simulation, then wouldn't it use all the other videos of him losing money as data and make more videos losing money on cars to keep up the ruse
Not something I had picked up on, but you're right. Others would have frustrated me by dragging this out across 2-3 videos. Thanks Hoovie (and Benjamin).
22 minutes ??? Could of done it in 10 . . . Watched him for years but starting to get sick of how much money he wastes when most people i know can't afford $3.00 a litre for petrol . . .
I extremely appreciate Tyler being so open with the prices and money spent and profit. So many other automotive channels are cagey about money and prices but being open like this is amazing. Congratulations on the win, you deserve it
I’ve watched Hoovie since 2014 and this is my favorite video he has ever done. Please Hoovie, do this next year as well and make it a staple of the series.
You'd fucking hope they'd work hard with those insane fees & double dipping the buyer and the seller. No wonder they are flying around in private jets.
As someone who's been to Barrett Jackson with a friend selling a Saturday "Prime Time" car ('70 GT500 concours restoration) back in Jan 2008, my buddy, didn't get anywhere near this kind of push. A lot of cars got shoved through and didn't get extra play. They pushed because it's him. Not that it's bad, but don't kid yourself thinking that they do this for everyone. Congrats on the sale Tyler. 👍👍
Best thing I like about hoovies channel is that he’s not afraid to share how much he pays for cars , repair costs and what he eventually sells them for. Unlike those other guys who find them and flip them without divulging any of the costs. (Dennis Collins) lol
Dennis Collins is in the money making game, Hoovie is a RU-vidr primarily. If Dennis said what he paid it would certainly hurt his margins; I can understand his reasoning (not criticizing your comment, just saying)
If you are in the market of flipping cars for a living, or even a hobby, why would you want to divulge any information ? There is nothing sneaky about what these guys are doing. If you are buying used cars it's up the potential buyer to do any leg work. I hear all the time about so and so being a crook or what have you. You never hear about a buyer being an idiot. When you are buying a used car you need to do as much research as possible. Never buy any car sight unseen. "But I don't know anything about cars." Then take one of your friends to have a look. In every circle of friends there is always that one guy that knows about cars. People need to stop blaming the seller about a car being a POS. They need to point the finger at themselves for being an idiot.
I am being sarcastic about Dennis Collins. I like giving him a hard time about his secretive business. Even Richard Rawlings divulges prices . Get you some of that !
@@Mike-qp8bv I don’t think you understand why people hate flippers. It’s not that someone got a bad deal or bad car, it’s that flippers bring nothing of value to the equation. They insert themselves, extract wealth from the transaction, and further drive market value upwards, all without improving any aspect of the process. All of this results in a loss for the enthusiast. If someone is supporting flippers and not enthusiasts it really says something about them as well.
After hearing Hoovie's final numbers I see why Bring A Trailer is so popular! Whether you are buying or selling still a better deal. No doubt Barrett Jackson has a lot of expenses - venue rental, staff, security and everything else. Makes sense why the BAT model is so appealing.
I have no business buying cars at an auction like B-J, but yeah this felt like they might've been pushing it a bit much. I mean, yeah it _is_ their job, and pushing it harder means higher pay. But unless they do that for everyone then this likely was a push because they knew the HG audience would be watching. That being said, idk if they're commonly selling hoopties, it might be that they were really expecting more.
@@TwoDollarGararge I get it. The Cyclone is more of a cult boomer car while cars like the Miata and 240sx have a huge, younger fan base. I like em all, I just find it amusing that a rare car like the Cyclone goes for less than a car that is rare only because the majority are all ratted out.
Man I have a lot more respect for you Hoovie for just airing some of your personal financial information as far as prices so easily, a lot of people would be very hesitant to do that. I respect it more because it give most of us plebs an idea of what it’s actually like to own our dreams, and really makes you think about what’s actually important in life. In a round about way, you’re taking a hit sometimes financially, and for sure as far as privacy, just to make us think about what is truest important to us.
Thank you for allowing us to go behind the curtain with you at the auction! I could feel your emotion during the time your cars were selling. Eager to see what you purchased and follow the cars during their journey with you. Great fun.
Ok, DEFINITELY want more videos like this. Turned mold to gold and making money to buy more cars, and seeing your live reactions to the selling prices, I WANT MORE!!!
This is one my favorite vids. Because watched alot of these cars get fixed. Biggest part being actually told what actually had in them and how much actually made. Sounded very accurate. Love how he honest about what he paid. Most car flippers won't tell you. Which make me loose interest bc feels dishonest and fake like. Keep up good videos hoovie!!
You've come a long way Hoovie....... from burying an '82 LeBaron convertible and showing kids why a '94 Park Avenue is a perfect car for them to selling a collection at the renowned Barrett-Jackson car auction company and making a good profit in the process. Oh, and working for them oh BTW. I think we can say you've made it!
@@buildingcarsissohard1813 That's no fun though. I live in Cleveland and I've been going to Barrett-Jackson every year at Scottdale since 2014 (except for covid) and watching it on TV since 2004. If you're a serious businessman in the collector car industry you probably will not do much business with Barrett-Jackson unless you have premium (high priced) cars and you want your name out there. But if you're really into cars and just want to be a part of the excitement of a show that is part classic car show/auction/super bowl/county fair, and see some big stars buying and selling their car collections throwing hundreds of thousands of dollars at each other's bids like popcorn, you can't beat it!
@@joe6096 I live in Phoenix and attend BJ, Russo, Mecum every year. Also do the Goodguys events twice yearly. Letting go of that Syclone for around $18k was terrible. Selling on the open market would've been MUCH more beneficial. Sure there's excitement in all of it, but that's why I said I wouldn't consider any of it, "good profits", necessarily. I think ALL of those cars, with maybe the exception of the Miata, would've brought much more money selling on the open market. Money, that would've been worth the headaches and aggravation of posting online and dealing with potential haggling
So refreshing....This is why I love your channel because you are so open with the money and the numbers. We are all adults here. We can handle knowing what you made or lost. Now...what to buy...Hmmmm.
One of the few times I've seen Hoovie super quiet...during the Superbird auction when he wasn't sure if it would break even. Haha. Well done. All those cars were treated well between the initial buying and the eventual selling.
Love the content where we see the sale after all the build up. Great payoff on content and on the sales to you! Thanks for showing the behind the scenes stuff! Also love the cliffhanger at the end :)
Seeing the emotions on your face as you tried not to lose too much money was awesome. Make this video again with some more expensive cars at the next auction. Keep the camera on you just as you did in this one. I finally subscribed. You earned it!
One of your best vids ever! I love following someone who can take us backstage, explain their auction process and share the excitement of selling these cars that we know so well thanks to your channel vids.
first video ive seen on this channel but this is really the beauty of being are car enthusiast without having the deepest of pockets, enjoying a vehicle for a while then moving on to another to make more memories with
I love the guys who make mistakes and messages and just do bone headed things and leave them in the video and bring it back up later. One of my favorite channels!
Congratulations…. What makes your channel stand out is tow things: 1) you are funny… and 2] really appreciate your transparency when it comes to numbers. There are so many people on you tube who keep things a secret… giving bad advice to people trying to learn something new
You pay for the experience, the flashy glitz, and of course the name. Don't forget, Barrett-Jackson was the FIRST such auction company in the world. In 1972 no one was putting cars from the 1920s-30s up for auctions like cattle or farm equipment.
I was SO waiting for this video. I am so happy for you Tyler. You deserve all the good that comes your way! Now I can't wait to see what you spent nearly a quarter million on. 🤩
Really enjoyed this video, have watched many Hoovie videos, and pound-for-pound, enjoyed this one the most. As others have said, I really enjoyed know the buy-repair-sale and profit numbers... Not because I will ever live this life, but because it lets me go-along for the whole ride.
Fascinating video Hoovie, thank you! Seeing these cars sell that we've gotten to watch you and the Wizard sort out was a lot of fun. Interesting to know how the money broke down too. One request, if it's possible to do a graphic showing your spend, the BJac fees, and the sale price, that would have been really cool.
I wonder if hoovie dug deeper and made it 100% original it would have gone for way way more. Restored original hemi superbirds are million dollar cars.
@@dustyice3110 But that would be impossible in this case cause engine is gone. A 200k worth of restoration would not even get half that. I am surprised it went so low. I guess people just dont care about driver muscle cars. Shoot. People pay more for flogged high mile imports from japan. No idea why it would go so low. I figured it would hit 200k to 300 range.
Ah okay I figured I was missing something. That price makes much more sense now. Normal superbirds are like 150-250k it seems so for a restomod 180k seems pretty reasonable.
@@dustyice3110 Well, the thing is that even clones go for higher. And this one isnt a clone. There are many aspects beyond just the VIN that set it apart. Plus Hoovie spent the last year getting it sorted so nothing like how he got it. I am betting people saw 'partial rebody and walked.' If fixed proper? Doesnt bother me. Shoot. People are fine for some reason with completely rusted shells being fixed up. Corrosion being far worse thing than replacing just a few panels.
Super Bird sold for $170,000 in year or two after it’s returned to a stock super bird it will be back at Barrett Jackson and will sell for at least $675,000
Well that's the thing with an investment if you're willing to put it in there and see what the return is going to end up being. The fact that it is a 426 hemi and desirable not just the 446 pack there's quite a bit and yeah that could definitely happen if it goes straight back to stock stock.
How do you know you have made it in the car industry. Barrett Jackson refers to your cars as the Tyler Hoover collection. Keep up the great work, I love your videos and the people you have shared with all of us, especially the Car Wizard. Just good clean TV to watch with the family. Again, thanks brother!
I absolutely LOVED this video Hoovie. Thank you so much for bringing us along on the ride, explaining all the fees, and giving us the actual numbers. I can't wait to see what you bought!
Once again you have brought us another awesome video. Congrats on selling all of your vehicles. You have finally made some money on your vehicles. I knew you could do it.Can't wait to see what vehicles you have bought. I know the Wizard is patiently waiting to work on them. Take care of yourself. Andy from Ontario Canada.
I think that the flawless examples of SuperBirds that were purchased are for investment purposes where your Bird is more of a driver hence the discrepancy in the price.
I really loved that video Tyler, it's great to see you that happy and what an honor to have Craig Jackson come by and film a preview.😎👍🏻 Also very interesting to see the behind the scenes clips at the auction. I'm very excited what's next.😁
Great to ride along with you through the auctions, Hoovie! Can't wait to see where the money (burning a hole in your BJ account, for now) went....... Much more fun to come I am sure!!
Because of the great work done by the Car Wizard and his crew and Van Go and his crew, the Hoovie brand is actually worth more at auction then many other car sellers cars. Hoovie is brutally honest about the cars he sells and the work he pays for to make the cars whole again. That's way better then a CarFax. Having someone actually inspect the car ,that you can trust before you buy it and get the bugs out makes the car way much more valuable. Plus being able to go to RU-vid and have an instant review of all the cars former issues and the great repairs done in priceless. It's very important that people see HIGH quality work done which is all that the Car Wizard and Van Go do, so Hoovie congrats on a great sale. The presentation and transportation of your cars was amazingly professional too. You just seem to bring the best out of people. Congrats.
@@BillyBobDingledorf yup. He has other sources of income. Breaking even on selling cars is nice, but he can take a moderate loss on them and still live comfortably. And I don't at all begrudge the guy that. He's found a way to make a (supposedly, unless proven otherwise) honest living doing what he loves.
This is one of the most fun videos I've seen on RU-vid in awhile. It's awesome to see these 30-60 year old vehicle's looking like they just left the factory. The auctioning was fun, I felt a Rush, sure it was only about 1% of what Tyler was feeling lol you gotta make this a thing Hoovie! Gather a few cars throughout the year and see how they do at the end of the year. This video was absolutely fun.
Good work Hoovie! Too bad about the Cyclone honestly, 20k is a great buy for that. Makes you wonder how much you would have made in peak covid times, I'm thinking at least 50% more.
