I have sold in total 3 vintage video camera's. Every one I have sold has been in perfect working order but all have been returned with some excuse or other. The buyers use them to transfer their old tapes then return them. I even had a spares or repair returned which clearly stated not working? Ebay sided with me on this occasion but I now steer well clear of them unless I sell them on market place.

I am in the process of getting my dads old videos onto newer storage devices. Just bought a dvd/vhs recorder and a capture card (all off ebay) but now need to look at other formats like 8mm /beta etc as my dad liked his gadgets

hi picked up a betacam sp for 1 pound i was after the cam for gear that came with it tape drive was dead it was passing out video to the out up socket so i could use as a cam i ad on a lcd dvd hd far east recorder unit now works very well u get alot of looks big time

The range of the final price will all depend on the contents and working conditions...If your missing some key elements such as the charger that alone will drop the prices and of course if its not working or can't test it being the charger is missing or battery is dead....I have a range of old vintage camcorders from VHS-Mini DV I have bought new but i'm more of a collector than seller..You could still buy the batteries made by Kastar but they range from about $8.00-$25.00 and up depending how old the camcorder is and if available...In US dollars...

Hey Nic, if that’s rubber, We use stuff called goof off or goo gone in the states to get the sap off. Lighter fluid may work as well since it works great for stickers but I’ve yet to try it. Great video!

when your checking what items sold for on ebay are you checking the dates of the sale as just a year in tecnolgy changes price a real lot

Great video, you are always so generous with your time and knowledge. I am blown away when I see what old cameras, vhs/disc recorders, CD players and other electronics are selling for, would love to delve into that market but don't think I know enough to test the products. Who knew that VHS was still in use 😜. Also it looks as though you need a collection of power cables to hand. Love watching you and George buy and sell these items, the whole reselling process is fascinating and something I reckon will become more popular with the upcoming Eco friendly vibe. Doing our bit to save the planet 👍👏💕

Nic, would you still recommended to someone to set up as a reseller. I am currently selling household items to clear out and have just started buying the odd thing from charity shops, which don't seem to have much. But I have the bug. Is there a future in reselling and will I be able to do it full time like you if I put the work in. ie still stock at reasonable prices etc. Thanks. Love the channel.

I used to resell a couple of years ago but when I became a driving instructor just didn’t have the time for it. This year I’ve just got back into it just because I miss it and the sheer enjoyment I used to get from it. Go for it I say.

Great Video Nic, I do buy them when I see them, and £7 is max what I pay for them .The vintage ones almost always need their Head to be cleaned with some alcohol..This sticky Rubber finish on Canon is very common, sometimes even on their 90's lenses, The Rubber is starting to disintegrate and turning back in to a soft gluey mass. That's nasty, and cleaning won't help much.

Show serial numbers in the pictures and make a point of saying in the description that the serial number can be seen in the pictures. More likely to put off scammers there I found.

These can be great the only thing i will say is i seem to have got quite a few returns on this kind of stuff due to scammers obviously using it to transfer quickly than returning it and saying it doesn’t work they all worked on return just annoying really sometimes how people can get away with it

To be fair the prices most people are charging is fair. Say £5 for a video camera that nic is trying to get £100. Spend £5 get £100 seems fair enough, offering less seem greedy and even the seller might refuse to sell it to you as they are offended at your low offer. Why risk getting the item, when profit margins are huge anyway.
