Finished the VLC course for semantics including the SEM lecture playlist a few days ago. Dropping by to give brief thanks - it was a great learning experience for me; I can see myself taking on some of the other courses on the VLC website later down the line. I never felt really lost, and there is plenty info to take in; plenty good, concrete examples which ig is pretty staple for linguistics. 2x speed was perfect for me. Really appreciate the work put into this course (as well as, I'd imagine, all the other courses you guys have), the clear separation of topics and the progression of topics is really helpful; great articulation as well too. And having this all free is the icing on the cake. Much love 🤗
thank you professor, great work. Only a teacher who takes whole-heartedly his/her work could do such a professional job, clear and rich in terms of content
A huge thank you to you prof Dr I am learning a lot from you on e lectures. Your explanation is super extraordinary!! Easier, more effective and efficient. Without you, I couldn't have understood semantics. God bless you prof.
sir ur videos are very helpful for me ,m also a teacher but i never took interest in logic in my college days as i was more interested in others like operating system , java and all now it was my turn to teach this one so it was bit diff for me to make my students more comfortable with this subject and being into this line i believe its my duty to satisfy my students as i feel their carrier is in my hands so i want to adopt thr best possible methods to teach this subject and i learned that from ur video thank u sir and waiting for reply back with lots of regards
Fantastic Video...best to re-watch and take notes...to gain the formal structure of Linguistics- and then see how each subset applies with semantics. Thank you, this video helped to put it all together for me! :)

Am i right to say Semantics is what allows lawyere to twist words and allow theists to interprete the bible in the ways they prefer? For example, the claim that God created the world in 6 days. When scientists proved the world existed more than millions of years, a theist can say, oh 6 days should be interpreted as 6000 years and so on so forth. I look at semantics as a flaw in all languages. languages are vague and ambiguous because it is open to interpretations.
You are both correct and incorrect. Yes, the fact that languages are ambiguous allows for multiple interpretations, but this isn't a flaw but merely the nature of language. Notice how you say scientists "proved the world existed more than millions of years," but this isn't true. Scientists, according to the present understanding of dating the universe, believe that the world is best interpreted as millions of years. Everyone has to submit to the problems of language, but often people like lawyers capitalize on this fact to use it to their benefit. But then again, why shouldn't they?
Hegeleze This is why the world is a pyramid where the richest and smartest are the 1%. The rest are controlled without knowing and this is how smart the 1% is. They control all the politicians and are never known to the public as the invisible hands. This obeys the law of Darwinism. This is why Democracy has never truely existed in this world. The people Perceive its real. What political rulers want is all the same despite political models (communism, democracy, dictatorship, authoritarianism, totalitarianism). They want : Eternal Rule (ideally), Control the people, Absolute Power (ideally), Media control . The west unable to implement Totalitarianism yet because too many people would violently reject this idea . So, they SELL the peasants the idea of Democracy to pacifiy them and appease them that they have PEOPLE POWER. But the people do not have the power. Their brains are brainwashed by State controlled media. They have no free will.
This is so naive and vacuously conceptual, it is hard to respond to. You are factually incorrect in every statement you expressed. There is no cabal smartest 1% and the smartest people in every country almost never get involved at the political level. You are right about those who "govern" that they try and govern, but this is the nature of the political process - those in power use this power. When you say "democracy" has never truly existed, it is because you are using a definition which only exists in your mind and then playing an idealists game where you scoff at how the world has never "lived up" to your mental picture. You are correct, "true democracy" has never and will never exist outside of very, very small working populations and really never there too. It's too bad no western nation has ever said they are a true democracy - they are only representative democracies (i.e., a republic where our representatives make laws, the citizens don't directly). The "West", whoever that really refers to, does have information campaigns in the media as does every other country who has ever existed (I am using "media" in a broad sense here). This isn't new and isn't shocking. Do they have not free will? Well, friend, none of us might have no free will if we believe neuroscience. The ideas of the youth today are insane and piecemeal, but I guess they have always been that way. Go learn more about history and the political process.
Hegeleze Of course there is the smartest 1%. Just because you claim that what i said is not factual does not mean you are right. You have to prove that there is no smartest 1% in this world.
