I just wanted to update everyone about the impacts of the Corona Virus on the Semester at Sea Program. Questions or enquires: CruzenTheTube@gmail.com Follow along on my journey on Instagram: Cruz.a.sanchez
UPDATE Hey everyone! Thank for your words and comments. After our one day in Mauritius we anchored off of the coast for two days. Now we are back in the country for 5 more days. After this we should head to South Africa if our plans stay in place.
I am/was studying abroad in Rome and we got the news on Saturday that we are being sent back to the United States. I leave tomorrow and I am so devastated about having to leave. I’m glad you guys are still trekking along and making the best of it.
That's terrible, but also probably the safest option. We are lucky because our school travels with us, so if the port changes it doesn't have to have to big of an impact.
I'm so sorry this happened. I'm planning on going on the Fall 2020 voyage, and was curious to see how the voyage was dealing with the corona virus outbreak. I really hope you can continue to see as many countries as possible. Your attitude about everything is so admirable. Thanks for the update.
Thank you! We can only make the best of the situation but we are still extremely lucky to be able to participate in the program. I don't think it will have to great of an effect on the fall voyage. Hopefully by late this summer the virus will start to decline. Even if it is still present, SAS can prepare before the voyage starts
So the short answer is no. We won't be getting a refund for missing any ports. The only money we do get back is from field programs scheduled through SAS.
I’m so sorry you guys are missing out on the experience 😞 voyage 127 was so smooth and I hope everyone gets to come back and experience it for real someday
Thank you! Unfortunately, this is probably everyone's single shot at this voyage. A student could technically do it again but that can be very expensive
That's why I wanted to put this information out there. We got coverage from a couple publications but they didn't really communicate the truth about what was actually happening
Also, there was one girl who was vlogging but she turned off her comments on all her videos. Which didn't allow people to ask questions about what was going on. So Thank you for making this video and allowing your viewers to comment and ask questions. Please stay safe.
@@randomsthingsandstuff9285 hey I think you're talking about Gracie. She doesn't actually turn off her comments herself I think. She had explained from before that RU-vid does that. I cant remember why but for some reason, ppl can't comment in her stuff and she gets her comments turned off. But yes I was wondering how the COVID-19 outbreak affected them
I have looked at the news about you guys. I've seen so many universities call back their students. What will happen if your home universities call you home?
I'm from the US but live in Mozambique, if you want any tips on where to travel I can tell you the best places. It is an absolutely beautiful country :)
After watching other RU-vidrs who are doing SAS, it seemed like you guys have classes if you're on the boat and not in the country so since you've been on the ship sooo long do you have classes every single day or are you getting any days off?
They made a smart decision. Psh I just say you guys are better off at sea then being on land. So many people have been getting it and dying from it. It is crazy. I am scared to go back to my university after spring break
My Disney College Program has been canceled because of Corona Virus and there are thousands of upset people about it. This is because all of the Disney Parks are closed. They are saying if anyone has interest in returning to the finish out the Program we can, but at this time everyone that is doing the Program and in housing has to be out by Wednesday and everyone who is doing it is getting a successful completion of it. My Program began back on February 3, and it is not supposed to end until August.
That's really unfortunate, but understandable. I've always thought about doing the Disney college program myself. Hopefully you still had an amazing experience are able to return before August if that's what you want to do.
That’s so sad...You guys should get some type of refund because I know sas is really expensive!! I hope everyone is okay!! I know health always come first, and sas are trying to protect you guys, but I understand it can be really disappointing to some people. Stay safe!!
Thank you for the comment. A lot of people are disappointed but an outbreak like this, no one could have really predicted. We won't get a real refund because when we signed the contract at the beginning we basically acknowledged that something like this could happen. It's still the voyage of a lifetime though!
From what I seen, they haven't been to an Asian country since Vietnam and that was about a month ago. It was mostly because of their travel history and countries didn't want to take that risk because no body really knows how the virus spreads.
