Just did this on my 81 passport, adjusted this maybe 4 times by feel without ever being satisfied with the result. Did it exactly as you show to, now it shifts amazing, thank you!
My cart takes some time to get going. I've adjusted the clutch in many ways and the brakes are not hanging. It rolls in neutral very well. The best I can get it still has no power. It starts slowly and picks up steam, but when starting up any sort of hill, it gets louder but doesn't actually move faster (if at all). It's like the gears are just spinning and not hooking up. The longer you ride it, the hotter it gets and the worse it gets. The kicker is that it works much better in reverse. It will actually go, but terrible in forward.
Good grief ya'll You loosen the lock nut and turn the screw piece about a full turn to the right " clockwise " then you turn the screw back to the left " counter clockwise " until you feel resistance then back to the right 1/8 turn more or less and lock down the locknut while holding the screw so that it doesn't move. The lock nut is 14 mm only !! Not 9/16 th. The locknut loosing is best done with a wrench but a socket will do to break it lose if a Moron has been the last to snug it up.
