Those are called lies. Senator Whitehouse is a force for integrity, ethics, accountability, and equity in government. I applaud his untiring work for the American institutions and people!
A fat lot of good that's doing combating a GOP party that has no shame. They don't give a rats ass about anyone but themselves. That what your missing. He doesn't have integrity or honor. He's another scared representative from the democratic party. He's shaking in his boots because he's not independent from groveling to wealthy donors and billionaire financed political Pac's. He can't get the money to run without giving them whatever they want. That's his career. Shilling for the rich and powerful, and working on amendments that profit them. Not the Americans that out number those people 100× to 1. What ethics? What accountability? The American institutions are in the pockets of the wealthy donors and no amount of undeserved praise supercedes that simple fact.
Why does everyone want to put a senator or representative doing a decent job into the presidential role rather than allow him or her to continue doing the good work he or she is doing in their current position? Possibly referencing the Peter Principle?
Who would take Whitehouse’s place in the Judiciary? We cannot expect Durbin to replace Whitehouse, he has shown no commitment to pursuing the Not-So- Supreme Court on any level in the past! There are other Democratic Leaders who would be presidential material.
As always, thank you so much Senator Whitehouse for the update and for keeping the public informed about what can and should be done about matters related to the court. We really appreciate it. Keep up the great work Senator.
McConnell is example A for all that is wrong in politics today. And NO, they all do not act the same way. SCOTUS nominations should not go through any political body.
The reason the left engages in it at all is because they are ABSOLUTELY FORCED into it, or they would never win another election!!! Every time it is up for a vote to do away with gerrymandering, ALL Dems vote YES, and ALL republicans vote NO❢❢❢ So, what's that tell you!?!!!
I'm glad to see more of Senator Whitehouse. He, along with all the great talent the Dems have, need to be seen more. Right now those crazy loud right wingers are grabbing most of the headlines with their insanity.
Yeah they're all on the internet whatever you know Marjorie Taylor green you know but people are actually seeing what they're about if you think can't stand none of these radical people man I never seen people like been around people like this either I don't understand where they're coming from they're all rich they have a lot of money and they're coming down on and it's not right
@@larry-kp9sp He could be in the foreground doing it as well! And, I wouldn't consider his work on this, or his dark money work, as being "in the background".
@@BoogEOogEWoogE I very much consider him as being in the background. He is not an attention seeker. He is not the typical politician. Your text is not clear as to what you mean. Senator Phil gramm was widely criticized as an attention seeker. It was a common joke, it was not safe to get between him and a news camera.
@@larry-kp9sp I mean that he's doing exactly what he should be doing, by taking it to the media as often as possible (something the liberals aren't very good at doing) because they NEED ATTENTION in the worst way! And, since he puts the videos out there for all to see and learn from, I don't consider that "behind the scenes". But, I think he needs to be front and center on these matters, and I hope he continues shoving it down the throats of Americans, until they either- choke - or wake the hell up (and, God only knows how long that could be)❢
Agreed Chuck did not do his homework. Did he ask why the Democratic Judiciary Committee Members have been putting their concerns about unethical activities and dark money as it relates to the US Supreme Court for years (Senator Whitehouse has spoken for years about the problems!) whereas the Republicans' silence leaves us hearing "crickets"? Did he ask how the Republicans' blockage if Obama's nomination for the opening on the US Supreme Court citing "the election year code of conduct", only to ram through Trump's nomination during an election year? No, it's not "two sides" doing the "same thing.". Did he compare the quality and qualifications of nominees throughout the last decades? No. Did he question him about the lack of investigations into Barrett's history of sexual assault(s) and ignored witnesses who contacted the FBI, etc., and the underhanded restrictions of access and inadequate time allowed for Senator's reviews of the follow-up? No. He fails to report the significant facts and rambles nonsensical comments.

I’m with Whitehouse. I’ve watched his quest for ethics in our “highest legal authority.” The lack of integrity in the Federalist society and their far right puppets is sickening, as is the lack of same in US citizens. Troubling is the fact Democratic majorities no longer decide citizen representation.
@@BoogEOogEWoogE I agree. They keep falling into GOP traps believing their promises and bravados mean anything. Those are just a sick show and only valid when they don't hold power. It is disgusting. I am not a fan of Biden's but I can't ignore his age comes with lots of experience. He is being strong and knowing how to manage the GOP.
Conservatives will always be there to stop that, as they dream of rolling us back to the 1950's. Until computer optimized gerrymandering is outlawed, nothing will change.
Senator Whitehouse exemplifies integrity, honesty, loyalty to democracy, and a cool head under fire. He would be an amazing President of the United States.
Chuck Todd needs to do better with his homework when questioning Senator Whitehouse. He isn’t one of the ethics free, idiotic Republicans that Chuck normally deals with.
ONCE AGAIN,,,BOTH SIDES ARE GUILTY OF DOING IT!!! SO,,IF THE DEM'S ARE PUTTING THEM DOWN,,THEN THE MAGA PARTY WILL START TO COMPLAIN!!! THAT'S EXACTLY WHY THAT'LL NEVER EVER WORK!!!
Expand the court to 14 justices wit term limits 15 years… and retire those who have served that time to date AND do it now during this admin no Federalist Society candidates
HMMM. BUT,, THAT'S JUST PUSHING THE PROBLEM,, RIGHT DOWN THE ROAD!!! AND,, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WILL GET ACCOMPLISHED!!!!! ITS TIME TO,,, WAKE THE FUCK UP AMERICA!!!!
Could not disagree with this ‘both sides’ analysis more. Awful take by Chuck Todd. While there is corruption in both parties, it’s ridiculous to pretend it’s equal.
Chuck did not do his homework. So many one-sided abuses. YUP!!!! BUT,, THAT'S ONLY ONE OF THE MANY MORE THAT OUR FUCKEDUP COUNTY HAS!!!! THERE'S MANNY, MORE!!! SO,, I'M WILLING TO DO MY PART,,, WHAT ABOUT YOU????
Understand your sentiment, but please don’t write anyone in. Vote Blue up and down the ballot. United Dems will save democracy. Don’t allow the crazy maga chaos to divide us at the ballot box! 🇺🇸
Sen. Whitehouse seems to be an honest broker in politics (whatever that really means in today's terms). I like how he said there needs to be Term Limits (18 years is fair) for the SCOTUS. And how he called out Citizen's United (Dark money) as needing to be reversed (good luck on that one, the conservatives on the court know who really pays their salaries). The Federalist Society, along with NRA, is one of the biggest problems for modern government. I hope you succeed Senator in all of your endeavors in cleaning up the Courts, this country really needs it right now.
Chuck Todd, stop interrupting! Every time you ask Sen. Whitehouse a question, you interrupt him before he can finish. I want to hear his views, not yours.
It was a bit dumb when Chuck Todd said that it would be unconstitutional for congress to pass a law that effects the Supreme Court because the Constitutional Convention ratified the U.S. Constitution that created the very three branches of government that was authorized by the Confederation Congress.
Laura Bealmear. Thomas isn’t the only one that has or can be bought. That’s one reason why we desperately need term limits. No one should have life time appointments.
We as a people need to look at ethics integrity and collegiality first when electing someone. Those traits need to be examined in every confirmation hearing, if they had Anita Hill would have disqualified Thomas. You can always find an honorable person who agrees with your philosophy. Lack of ethics integrity and hyper partisanship on the part of Sen. McConnell, Justice Thomas, MTG, and many others have put our democracy and the country in peril.
I don't know about "lots" because to me it's still not enough to combat the deluge of other information. It should be on National mainstream news everywhere as well as the fact that his proposed SCERT Act with full Dem. support/votes (which not one repugnican would sign) can't even make it out of the House of Representatives. Tell you anything ?
I don’t see the Supreme Court as red or blue, I just see green now, the money that has bought some of them. Harlan Crow was apparently “sitting” on the Supreme Court this whole damn time.
I sit here and my stomach aches, just imagine Senator Whitehouse’s stomach and the openly illegal display of corruption from members of the Supreme Court. Need to either remove those that are found to have broken the laws or add more Justices to reshape the court and create new rules of conduct for all the Justices.
I'd love it if when Chuck Todd and other hosts bring up "both sides", they wouldn't just wave their hands as if it has merit. Spell out what each side has done to escalate our current crisis. Give specific examples. Weight them. If both sides are to blame...SHOW IT.
While there is a separation of powers among the three branches, they are also purposely set up to be a check on each other. The SC is but one of the branches and can be checked by one or both of the other branches and I can only hope it will be checked as it has gone berserk and rogue.
I'VE, WATCHED THAT INTERVIEW,,AT LEAST TWICE,,, AND,,I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOUR THINKING ABOUT!!! CHUCK IS ABOUT THE MOST FAIREST OF ALL THE REPORTER'S OUT THERE!!!
I'm so sick of hearing how both parties are the same. The Democratic party does not have a liberal version of the "Federalist Society " saying who can be federal judges, only the Republicans have that. It's ridiculous to keep inverting that phony caveat before calling things out for just how they are. Although what do you expect from mainstream corporate conservative media?
Once I lived the life of a Billionaire ..spendin' my money but I didn't care... But nobody loves ya when ya down and out!!!! #1 top record of the Golden Era❤❤❤1
Interesting that Todd claims that most people now only see blue and red robes, not black, when the media itself began citing which Supreme Court Justice was a Democratic or Republican nominee years ago.
HES A FUCKIN NEWSMAN,,HES ABSOLUTELY ON EITHER SIDE'S!!!! BUT,, I'M THINKING THAT,, YOUR A OL TRUMPERS!!! SO,, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING THAT I HAVE TO SAY WON'T GET THROUGH TO YOU!!!
I would vote for Sheldon Whitehouse. He is a very intelligent man with scruples that are non-read recognizable, because seems like no one has scruples anymore, but Yep president Sheldon White House that sound like a good title.
The Articals of Confederation and the Fedetalist Papers Give Best Practice clearity to the Supreme Courts Ethical Standards Question.... Ues the supreme courtis tasked to behave along with other Federal Employees. period full stop.... NOONE IS ABOVE THE LAW
I can not stand listening to the hypocrisy of the Republicans. I can not. It just hurts my brains too much. Despite the brilliance of Sen Whitehouse, and my enormous respect and admiration for him and his work.
Chuck Todd always acts like he knows more about someone else’s job than they do themselves. Great job, Sen. Whitehouse, for holding your own on the Judiciary Committee and its responsibilities!
