I had purchased a 50S 2 months ago and actually returned it because I could not get it to do what you instructed on this video. After watching I decided to re-purchase another 50S and give it another go. This time the firmware update and pairing and all other functionality worked as advertised. Sena should pay you a royalty!
I struggled with this for about an hour before I found your video. Turning off the Sena is the important step that isn't discussed in making the WIFI connect. Everything worked great after following your tutorial. Thanks!
Your first video deserves a million subs. I subbed because nobody else, not even Sena themselves could explain this as well as you did. Proof that all your videos will be concise and helpful. Good luck! 🏍💨✌🐼
What I loved the most about your video is the honest look at when it doesn't connect when it "should" connect sometimes. That's tech for ya! Great video, man. UPDATE: just bought a 50S and would have continued to be so confused without your video (especially when the app keeps "spinning" after it's actually connected.) Thanks a million, friend.
Thank you!!! Was totally struggling with getting the WiFi adapter working with my unit. Excellent video. Sena should use your video as the instruction guide.
Was taking me like forever to get this guy working and then I found your video! Worked like a charm in the first attempt. It's connected and updating while I write this comment. You're the MVP!!
i never powered my 50S on during the entire process of geeting the 50S App & updating for the 1st time. I purchased my 50S in March '21 and mine did need an update of 8 items. Good video!
Thanks for this, after following your steps it works perfectly, you should get a job at Sena, hopefully after the update I can get the voice commands to work..and hopefully set up radio stations..
After throwing my phone at the wall I watched this video - thanks Sena updating process to say its not intuitive is an understatement. Thanks u saved my phone from a beat couldn't figure out why it kept disconnecting from the sena wifi. Yea turn the unit off second part it kept saying connection to my wifi had failed- it hadn't i just had to manually reconnect it. Talk about the absolute worst software app.
Damn I thought mine was broken I was figiting with the damn thing for set it all up for about 2 hours. I was literally about to take it back lol. Thanks for the video sir
Thank you, your step process was exactly what I needed to get mine going i was starting to get frustrated after 5 different tutorials that didn’t help.
Thanks for those tips. Excellent help. I just disagree with one your statement - it is not easy process ;-). It is a shame for Sena that guide leaflet does not explain all those details. Thanks for rescue from frustration mode :-)
This video IS GREAT! I had to watch the video 4 times and try it 4 times before it actually worked. BUT, with that said, follow John's instructions exactly as said and it WILL work! My Sena 50s is currently updating the firmware as I type this! Thanks John for the awesome video!
Hey I never have said anything after a video, But after 6 hours of watching the screen spin then say couldn't connect and I knew password was right. I had my hand gun out..it like the hell with it target practice ..Then behold your little video, Watch for blue light close app and then yes bingo works like a dream.. And I saw a post where you should get paid, YOU SHOULD OWN THE DAM COMPANY Thanks it was the 50r
After reading many issues, I thought this might be a nearby signal interference problem. So took the device far away from my computer, router and switched off the Sena. Everything then connected fine.
Thank u soooo much helped me out to understand. And was able to update it to the latest firm ware. Just a quick question once the firmware is updated how will i come to know about it ? As in the app it still says update firm ware but it shows firmware 1.0.8 asuming its the latest one now for 50s
There is a separate app just for the wifi adapter. It took that to get the first update going. However the .03 update is terrible, I got volume issues and voice commands quit working . Tried swaping mics, took it back to cyclegear. They had no luck either. Ended up getting a cardo pactalk. That thing works every time. Its too bad as the new sena had better speakers. I have ordered the jbl 45mm that cardo is offering on the new pactalk black. That is the only difference on the cardo black. The regular jbl on cardo is 40 mm. As usual sena is not ready for prime time. Its too bad as that open mesh is a cool feature but none of that matters if the unit doesn’t work. The noise canceling is better on cardo. I still have my sena 20s with iasus speakers. It just works.
I’m on my third 50s , the first two I did the update and started getting charging issues , this 3rd headset I started using it without updating and it’s working perfect . Am terrified to do the update on this one in case the same thing happens as it was driving me nuts.
Thank you John! I was about to pull my hair out after 4hrs of jacking with this stupid thing! If I lived near Sena, I might have gone there to get a piece of some asshole electrical engineer. Cardo is super simple but conversing is like talking on a walk-in talkie. Sena isn’t like that so I’m back with wrestling there unit.
Software doesn't seem to be Sena's strength. As of right now, my 50S is stuck in a firmware update loop where it shipped with 1.09, but 1.08 is available, so every time I try to charge it, it tries to update. And by update I mean downgrade its firmware back to 1.08. Even that app can't tell that 1.08 is less than 1.09, and it keeps bugging me.
Do you have any tips for the WiFi adapter to stay connected? I am also having issues with my home network not even showing up in the selections in the Sena App.
I found the problem, can't have any special characters in the WiFi ID name, only letters and numbers, no spaces. I didn't want to change my whole house so I did a guest setup calling it SENANETWORK and it found it My network for my house has a - slash in it's name.
it seems you can't have anything other than letters and numbers in the network name, and I heard the password too, but I didn't verify that. Maybe Sena should pay you the salary they're paying their incompetent employees. Whoever at that company should be fired that's in charge of writing these user manuals.
There is no need to clear out your Wi-Fi networks that you saved off from previous connections. Just make sure you’re not connected to some other Wi-Fi. If it’s persistent, disable auto join. Just want to point it out because it is unnecessary and for some people to create other hardships.
