I remember the one safe place in my neighborhood as a latchkey kid walking home from school by myself with my younger sister depending on me to get us home safely. While I'm 100% opposed to telling white kids they're as bad as slave owners just because they are white, I am also 100% in favor of telling white kids what happened (and what is still happening). I'm a white Christian conservative who was homeschooled and my parents didn't skip over the details of slavery in our country (even though they had every freedom to). Regardless of what is or is not being done today, every American should have an understanding of our nation's history. That's one reason I'm subscribed to Senator Booker's channel. He educates me and lets me see his perspective without attacking me. He doesn't put me in a box first, and educate second. And I much appreciate him for it.
I haven't seen any decline or omission of factual US history from my education, my kid's or my granddaughter's. I'm 72. Parents need to closely monitor text book selections for their districts.
