Seniors don't fall in love with iPods. They fall in love with music.

All who can should donate time or money for these iPods. They need to be in every nursing home in every community. Life, live, love. Blessings abound.

i still play the song my grandma would love to sing along to. a song when paid attention speaks of her battle with getting older. this brought back so many memories.

Let's not place to much emphasis on the equipment used to deliver the therapeutic sounds(iPod) but more on the technique that is used. Music in many forms makes for happy feet. Get 3 basic mp3 players for the price of 1 apple. Some people aren't brainwashed by Brand

many people to this day still underestimate the power of MUSIC and it's not just to the hearing ears either. it's why I can't stand people who restrict or try to erase all kinds of music.

They're not buying them, they got them through a grant and the rest are donations.

DO NOT CAST ASIDE THE ELDERLY As they cared for you when you couldn't so should you now care for them. Everything ages even you at some point too.

Can someone PLEASE do a parody of what reminiscing about Megan Thee Stallion's music would be like in several decades? Will help. Thanks.

This video certainly does demonstrate the power of the purposeful use of music. It is wonderful to see people enjoying life and sharing memories, but please be aware that when music is chosen without consultation with patients, their families, and a music therapist the opposite affect can be seen. When these programs are properly monitored and not abused they can have a very positive impact. Too often however, programs like this are established because they are cheap and all that is required once the music is loaded is to plug someone in. For high functioning people who can speak for themselves, this works fine, but imagine using them for a patient who experiences depression and is isolated, which is the side of long term care life that we won't see in the news. Programs like this, without proper monitoring, can aggravate certain conditions. Please take note that if you are interested in starting a program at a center, or for a loved one that it is best to contact a certified music therapist. www.musictherapy.ca/en/ www.musictherapy.org/

Yes. I think most will agree that the access to the music is the key point. Too much emphasis gets placed on certain "products". It's not the product that makes people happy. It's what it does, and there are many products that do the same thing. The access to music, and information in general can keep minds healthy and active into old age. We're filming a documentary about seniors learning the internet, and something as simple as RU-vid can brighten their day!

The specific piece of hardware doesn't matter as much as the easy access to music that these devices provide. If they don't still have or never had a record collection, radio stations do still play old music, but portable players and sites such as RU-vid offer something better. One of our favourite websites to show seniors is this very one we're on right now. Some of them are so happy to find their favourite operas with a simple search! (check out our "Hallelujah" video for a cute response!)
