I bought these 2 days ago and I have to admit, out of all the headsets, I have tried. These picked up on sounds I couldn't hear with normal headsets. I highly recommend these
Thanks for the review. I bought the 4.40 BT last week and I didn't what to expect at first since this set I my first Sennheiser headphone that I purchase. But after a few hrs or listening I was really pleased with the sound quality. Your review is very straight forward and to the point, best I've seen on the 4.40 BT.
I broke my Bose QC35 on travel, and had to buy something budget while on trip. I bought this one. All i can say, exept comfort and ANC Senns are way better sounding. Better bass, better mids and highs. Sound very warm and not fatiguing for long listening. I agree this one sounds more like 200+$. If you need well rounded sound in move, you cant go wrong. On sale they cost about 100$ and i claim those are best sounding headphones in this price range.
Picked this headphone just a month before. I returned Phillips latest 805bk with ANC which was compared with Sony 1000mx3. Amazed by the neutrality. Sound are crisp and clear, no enhancement. With lossless flac files. The bass is super sweet when kicks in. Hear the beats which you never heard before.
Steven K One by one people will find out for themselves that anything with Beats is overpriced JUNK. But not until a lengthy and stubborn resistance to trying any other headphone. I stopped suggesting better alternatives to people after I get a similar combined reaction of disbelief and anger. I now just use the fact of someone using Beats at the gym as an indicator of them being deserving of my pity.
I bought the noise canceling version of these, the earbpad are very soft but the opening is too narrow for adverage sized ears. They feel ok at first but after 20-min they start to hurt the top and front part of my ears. I did enjoy the sound, they may even sound better than the PCX 550.
zacch78 Hi dude! What version is the noise-cancelling one? I've checked on Amazon and since Sennheiser is a reputable brand, of course they have noise-cancelling hphones, yet they reside in the $150+ categories.
Thanks for your great review! I bought this headphones on vacation and coming from cheap bt-on-ear-headphones (40 € Panasonic, I do not recall the designation, with much better sound than can be expected for the price and clear shortcomings in materials and durability) and a pair of Plantronics BackBeat FIT (which I like very much using in the gym because of their durability and the low weight) the sennheiser 4.40 bt play in another league. I am used to watch movies and yt channels in english while my native language is german and because of the pronouciation of the voices it is much easier to understand spoken language. I don't like too much base and this ones are just right for me. And because of the very well designed ear cups the isolation is impressive - I do not miss anc at all!
I just bought myself one and I absolutely love it! Also snagged them at 99$, you got yourself a new sub! Repairing microscopes sounds super interesting too
Im waiting for them to come in the post. Was just looking around for the general opinion on the headphones. Out of the videos i watched. This will be the last one. Normaly i have to check a few videos to check I'm not getting over hyped / " sponsored" reviews. i feel you was to the point, honest and covered everything really well. Thanks for your review?
Sennheiser has always been form fallowing function and I hold them in very high esteem for that. In most cases they punch well above their price point especially the HD 400 and 500 lines, if you look around you can get them for a steal. And from there it just gets better with the 600 and 650 which need zero introduction and are basically the gold standard for their price bracket. And then you have the flagship 800s and if you are spending that much you know what you are looking for.
For the longest time I had the classic GL SR-60, and I just loved them. I usede them to death, over many many years (I'm guessing 10 or so), and finally had to retire them. Still being on a budget, i ended up with a pair of Shure SRH-440. Nice and lean, crisp sound with punch, but i missed the low end. While still having them, i got a great deal on the Jabra Move, and damn!!! They are so cheap and cheap looking, but to be frank they sound really good!! Almost reminiscent of the SR'60's. Maybe the memory is better than the phones - who knows... I'd still choose a wireless version of SR-60 over almost anything. Not finding that, I got the Sennheiser HD 4 40 BT. They're waiting for me at the post in the morning, so if anyone's interested, let me know...
Very useful review, I'm looking for a decent pair of cans for trips and everyday use and BT seems to be the way to go. I trust Sennheiser since I have owned other products in their headset line and your review kind of sold me on these!
What a coincidence, I was just looking for reviews on youtube for these guys. I've seen only about 5 or 6 decent videos, but you're trustworthy so I'll take your review into consideration. My choices are between these, the ATH SR6BT, the ATH M50's, the Skullcandy Crushers, and the Sennheiser 6xx. I'm favoring Bluetooth headphones though as oppose to a stay at home pair so the 6xx and the M50's are in the back burner unless they are vastly better than the other 3.
Brilliant review :) I am thoroughly impressed with these headphones, amazing sound, no distortion, comfy and light, decent battery life, replaceable ear pads. I managed to get them for £68 :) worth every penny.
Hey i find it pretty amazing that you are still in the RU-vid Game. I don,t watch regularly as in I saw only a few of you Videos over the Years but recently got back here. I recently bought the Sony Z7. For Mobile Use straight up HTC 10 with Focal Spirit Classic and Home Use: My Yamaha Speaker AMP and Sony MDR 7Z. Please don,t hate on me saving on an AMP. Still din,t decide which one but hey i,ve got Time.
favourite review of these. you also explained the wired cons and pros too much better than other reviews. plain and simple! do the buttons work when it is wired?
Got mine in "New Open Box" condition for $80 from Blinq on Ebay a week ago and I'm loving them. Are they as clean/detailed as my HD 598 SE or HD 660 S that I leave at home? No, but they sound pretty damn good for the price and I have no problems throwing them in a bag to take them on the go.
Thanks Tyll. Iget that BT 'phones cost more than wired models, but these are the same price as the ATH-MSR7 in my neck of the woods - no contest from my (admittedly limited) in-store listening with both models.
Great review but you left out the fact that these headphones come with aptX which is the difference between good headphones and great headphones (as long as the device powering them is also aptX capable).
SBC and aptX sound exactly the same - www.rtings.com/headphones/learn/sbc-aptx-which-bluetooth-codec-is-the-best Great headphones have aptX HD for Hi-Res tracks.
thanks man i have bought in in the netherlands and i have listened to it everything you say is true en i got more info about it thanks man gr frenkvanroy
Thanks for great video and advice ! Please, ( sorry for disturbing you ) how is clarity and strong in bluetooth phone calls, for the both side ? Is it mic strong enough ? Please answer if you want, I need your advice and opinion. Best regards and wishes and thanks ! 🍺🏆👍
Thanks for your great review, but I really regret buying this headphone. I mean, although the sound quality is good and the headphone is flexible and light but... It's not just about the material and even convenience. Do you know what I'm talking about? about the NOISES!!! As a person who lives in a crowded, rather noisy environment, I feel really disappointed with this headphone. I hear all the noises from outside!!! and when I try to increase the sound volume I feel as though my ears are gonna bleed. Besides, the earpads are small (as you mentioned) and even when it's not hot, they make much sweat.
Great review! A question: do they support multipoint? (I connect them to two devices, then I press pause on one device and play on the other without disconnecting/connecting). Thanks
They are not comfortable for me, very small earcups, big head tight, small regulation for bigger head, I set it to maximum and it's not enough, they are design for small thin heads. Why Sennheiser do not make bigger earcups like in HD 5xx, 6xx series and also make some open design Bluetooth headphones!!! Sound are very very good and super clean trebles, bass is also right.
I had the same problem. I grabbed my previous headset, ripped the earpads off and put them on, around the already installed earpads for extra comfort. They look like it was meant to be this way and feel very soft and comfortable. The sound is indeed amazing.
@@xenonwj2396 this headset already has a microphone mate. The cable I'm talking about is the one the comes with the headset so you can use it when it runs out of battery or while it's charging. Also this is my outdoors headset so that mic would be waaaay too abnoxious
@@TheBoostedDoge oh I thought you meant for gaming like a v Moda boom mic. I know the Headphones have 2 mics but they are not very good. Apologies on my end, thought you were referring to something else.
@@MA-fh7ui don't think so. The jack on the headset has a pin in it that's used to lock the cable in place. Also the jack on headset side is 2.5mm and on the phone side is 3.5mm so there's also that. Now I don't know if all Sennheiser cables will work, or if it's headset specific
zYzmrZIzYz I have pc360se, which are basically hd558 with a microphone. My friend has these and I had a brief listen. I'd say that the sound is fairly good, I can enjoy these on the go or in an office. One thing to note is that it has fairly more bass, I think I'd even prefer less bass for my taste. But it's not too much, I still enjoyed listening to them. But be aware of the potential fit problems, since those earpads are pretty small. It was comfortable for me, but might be a problem for some people.
Any thoughts about JBL E55BT or Pioneer SE-MS7BT? I'm considering buying a new pair of headphones and i doubt between the ones you have reviewed and these 2. I dont know if you have heard about them, but i hope you can help me decide :) In my country all of them are between 100 and 115 euros, so money is not a decising factor
@InnerFidelity I just bought myself the 4.50 version for 100€ on Amazon (~111$), which is supposed to be the same as the 4.40, but with active noise cancelling. At 3:27 in the video you say that, once you plug the cable in, you can't use it as a headset anymore. What do you mean by that ? Doesn't it have some sort of microphone ? I'm planning to use it with the wire only, because I don't want radio waves close to my brain, but if I have to unplug the cable and pair it before I can answer a phone call in order to have a microphone, it's gonna be a real pain in this ass and I'm just going to return it.
Tarun Kabra Yes , i will get the sennheiser because it delivers a better sound quality and has aptX , The crushers they say that the bass overpowers the vocals even when its all the way down its not for me.
have both if you want incredible bass bad sound quality get skullcandy,if you want very good sound quality and nice bass get sennheiser.Needless to say i prefer the sennheiser
Like nexxo mentioned these aren't senns competitor for the QC phones, Senn does sound stage reproduction better than anyone, but this isn't one of those sets. This is their "Urban" type line.
Compared them both in store. These are definately better. Bose has little to no bass compared to this with the same clarity in regards to the mids and highs which is impressive compared to the QC35s that cost three times as much.
Hows the bass of Sennheiser 4.40BT as compared to Sennheiser CX180 , Sennheiser CX275 ? Please reply ASAP . If anyone having Skullcandy Hesh 3 Please Reply too.
Hello I would like to know if these headphones work with the cable without the need of having a battery, that is, if they also work like traditional cable headphones
M50 if you don't need Bluetooth and you are doing advanced song or video editing. 4.40 is more enjoyable less tinny sound and wireless with built in amp also the bass sounds better than beats not overpowering but still strong. Overall 4.40 is best but get m50 if you need really accurate sound
I can't stand the highs on the M50 and M50x, they sound very metallic, strident and harsh. Tyll pointed this out in his reviews of them as well. Overall, very overrated headphones.
or senheisser HD 598 Cs, it is lighter and less clampy on the head but on the same level with m50x. BT 4.40 is a bit inferior and bassy than the both. The main diff in m50x , and 598 cs is the sound is near and far respectively. if you are average listener who just enjoy clear sound with details, these are headset or recommended on video. higher than these are wasting money unless u produce music or movies. I have three of them. m50x leather tear in hot weather. especially the head band. and I left my hd598 and 4.4 in office. my house is warm, not air conditioned. disadvantage of these headset are the ear pad, it crumb if washed in strong soap. I did that to both, my 50x earpad crumbling, I replaced it already with third party ones, more or less fine.
You can replace the earpads, but it will look very stupid and ugly since the earpads will end up bigger than the earcups. Also those are fairly comfortable. The bass is ok. I usually listen to hd558, which have very little bass, and my friend has these headphones. I actually would prefer a bit less bass, but it is still ok for me. I think if smb would want more bass than these, then there is smth wrong with that person.
Could you review its elder brother "HD 4.50 BTNC" as well or at least comment on its NC quality. I believe everything else has to stay the same between that and HD 4.40 BT. Correct me if I'm wrong. Thank You
Wanna make a bet my Superlux hd681 will sound better particular in the bass then those hd-4 40..i got both Sennheiser HD 580's and also the HD 600 and low and behold the Superlux digs a fair bit deeper down in lower bass levels... is without Question more alive sounding phone then both my Sennheisers when I directly compared them to the Superlux .. the Senns sounded well duller more distant and definitely less of the very deep bass stuff in those lower sub bass registers ..(what and was better if was asked the Sennheisers were doing better for me .. both Sennheisers were smoother but not by very much...lil more refined mids going up into the higher octaves ..point i making here is this - those Superlux cost me a mere stupid 28 bucks with some Gearbest points thrown into the pot at checkout.. un f#$%ken unbelievable .. i said how can this be ..
I tried the Superlux HD681s at a friends house and they were utterly shit comfort wise. If I had to live with them I'd shoot myself in the head in .2 seconds. The sound was okay overall but very sibilant and unnatural which was obvious right away. the HD580s or 600s will utterly destroy that piece of shit in every category except maybe bass amount. Try the Sennheisers out of a good tube amp and try to find the jaw you just dropped on the floor. The Superlux are a good value but don't even think it comes close to the senns.
There is nothing unnatural about them i stand firm on what i said. .For comfort wise? (right) not great but not bad either..Plastic? Sure is! the headband to the cups down to the cable is mediocre at best bordering on ugly in fact.. but there is something special regarding the drivers they do use...Of course i used my Sennheisers on my tube amps i do happen to own three high end tube amps all are well noted amplifiers and costly be it that.. does my jaw drop (Nope) only time an many times that happens when i go to my Stax SRM T1 with Stax SR-Lambda Pro and i use in conjunction (augmented) with the Oz bass panels two on each side used for ultra deep basses.. Is crossed over @ 40Hz.. the mid to upper bass to the mids to highs the Stax carries the rest of the spectrum from there.. Two old school Heathkit AD-1702 electronic crossovers used in that system..beyond the scope here so i'll leave it here ..Nevertheless i agree with you of course there is a huge difference using a tube amplifier on those Phones and right along with 1000's of other decent headphones.. .I do expect the Superlux to produce much more definition to it's already good sound Signature all though, due to its lower Ohmic Impedance: @ 32 Ohms it will play louder perhaps a little more mellow, somewhat tamed by those glowing tubes.. ah' will shall see when i do put her on the tube amp shorty as i just got the Superlux a lil while ago... .Been audiophile well over 30 years now i dont use walkmen's Nor Computer - portable Cd Players not even flack - Mp3 to test - listen- evaluate any headphones for my source ..
I wondering about deconstruction of this headphones. I need to know what inside and where is all wires located. Because when i buy this one in near future i need to upgrade them by set up a twist mechanism. Because...actually i really love this sound of this device, but they can not twist by 90 degrees so i can put them on my neck and use like a loud speakers) Do you know something about whats inside in the headphones?
Thank you very much for your reply! I was hasty and bought the sony before you even responded. But yes my first reaction to this headphone was excactly that the mids and vocals are in the background too much. And thats not a good first impression. Im lucky that I can send it retour to sony and get my money back in the first 30 days. I was testing the headphone out until now, maybe I just had to get used to it and it kinda worked but im still not satisfied with the sound will get the senheiser now for sure.
I dont really need the active noise cancellation. I have tried the senheiser 4.40 in the store but also some other headphones I was surprised by the JBL everest 700. I found that one really good sounding and only a little bit extra more money then the 4.40. The 4.40 was great in sound but sort of missing a punch to it, and the highs wernt that great indeed. Unfortunuatly i cant really find a good review of the Everest 700 I didnt buy it yet because I wasnt too sure of it being a good headphone. What do you think?
I have xb950, but the version on the cable. I like this sound because it gives a lot of fun to listen to. In my opinion you can hear vocals and high tones also clearly. Does this sennheiser have much less bass? I ask because the sennheiser is in my country much cheaper than sony.
I did buy the senheiser 4.40 in the end. I personally enjoy the sounds very much! It does have less bass but the bas also feels more ''real'' to me. That was the problem i had with the Xb950b1 the bass just feels a bit fake to me. But its also because I listen to a lot of rock music too and the guitars just sound better on the senheiser. The sony was good with hiphop and edm and such but not so great with rock.
It can be used on smartphones like LG Q6, however for the PS4, you have to use the audio cable it comes with by connecting it to the DS4. When trying to use and sync headphones via BT, it won't work unless it is a Sony or licensed by Sony.
Have 2 sets of these .. the sound is great . but both my sets have broke by the plastic earphones connection . I think its a Manufacturing fault . . its in the same place on both sets.. tragic really because for the price the sound is great . Wouldnt buy these again . Best advice dont buy them
Did anyone face drop connection issue while connecting? It repeatedly keeps disconnecting from my laptop. If I try after 10-15 second it connects. I have used other Bluetooth headphones in the same way. I didn't face this issue till now with those headphone. Seems like something is wrong with this headphone. I have tried reset bluetooth connection and paired again. still no luck. Anyone has faced this issue?
Ive owned this headset for around 3 years now and i can honestly say that even tho the sound is okay, the materials are absolut bs quality. the "auah on" and "auah off" voice is the same as my 15 dollars chinese workout headphones and the fake leather is wearing off everywhere. even the stitiching is fake. not worth more than 30 dollars honestly. this is not made by sennheiser
