I bought the HD6XX and 58X at the same time and preferred the HD58X. I'm a vocal (+Rock) focused person so both sound very good in that regard. But I recently also got a BlackShark v2 after listening to it in store and in my opinion the Blackshark has better resolution than the 58X and for my taste the better FR although they are kinda similar except for the treble boost and extension on the V2s. Soundstage is wider too, but that isn't something the 6XX or 58X is known about for. The Mobius is okay, but build quality wise so cheap that I returned them. Kinda weird to prefer a very "cheap" model of a gaming brand, but it is what it is.

blackshark v2 has more treble and bass. Resolution wise i think its probably close. The mobius sounds way better than both

The HD 6XX/650 and HD 600 are at their best with a Tube Amp. It's like they become a different headphone in a good way

I am looking at the HD6xx's and want to add a Tube Amp to the combo. Do you own them and what amp do you drive them with?
@JTB--
@JTB-- 11 месяцев назад
@@sn4rl277 I had the 6xx, then the 600 but sold both over time. I now have the HD 560s which are just as good as both or better imo. I use them for gaming and movies mostly. My only tube amp is the Schiit LYR3. The last version, not the newest one with SS too

@@JTB-- I like close back, but want a pair of open back cans. I have always wanted the HD6xx's and after my Senn Momentum 3's failed and received a refund from Senn an was like let do it. I need to look at the 560s, but part of me wants to experience the HD6xx's on a Tube amp. Such a cult following with the HD6xx's.

I'm running these with a jds labs atom amp+dac, and EQ'd. also using Dekoni's fenestrated lambskin, and imo aftermarket pads can work on these just fine to me in contrast with other thoughts. the natural, warm mids and the restrained but comfortable bass, which is often sennheiser's approach to bass, makes these just such a comfortable experience. they're just so comfortable, physically and sonically. Folk, blues, rock, sould and any vocal heavy music with strings are just absolutely where these shine the brightest. And for the pricepoint it's honestly just such a headphone still worth celebrating because they just deliver so much for the price. The only other headphone aside from arguably the Sundara's, these are just incredible at their price even in 2024. The value really can't be understated imo. for gaming, these are phenomenal for rpgs and really any single player game. The natural replication and warm coloring for vocals coupled quality level of detail and separation makes these really incredible for those types of games. However the intimate soundstage does not lend itself well for competitive fps games. Senny's 560S is the way to go for competitive fps games, which are even somehow cheaper than these. Some even say those make Sennheiser's 600 series irrelevant.

The Audeze mobius build quality is terrible. I was a kickstarter backer and after a year the headset clasp cracked and the padding deteriorated . Definitely not for gaming who constantly take headsets on and off. The problem with these reviews they don't consider long term use especially for a product that is expensive

lol the audeze mobius is my brothers that he also got from kickstarter backer. The headset does have not very durable design/plastics mine has also cracked so i dont disagree. But the sound is just so good I really like them

Nicely done bro, subscribed, I have the 58x on the original Zen stack, sounds a bit muddy to me, is it worth it to get the 6xx? If not, what do you recommend as an upgrade under $400?
@ryanhostudio

i just reviewed the audeze mm-100 its $400 and has a midrange focus tuning like the sennheisers but more detailed because its a planar

What about getting the HD6XX with Fenestrated Sheepskin Ear Pads to give the headphones a little bit of extra bass that the HD58X has. Would that give it the best of both worlds or would it just be better to go with something else at that point like the Hifiman sundara's?
@ryanhostudio

i would still just get sundara if you like bass, it’s better.

Hey Ryan, I have really been enjoying your channel as I get into the headphone game. If you have the time I’d like some advice on my next purchase. I’m about 2 months into the hobby so I’m super fresh. I just got some used pairs of Philips shp9600 and ATH-700x for $90 total just to figure out what I like in a headphone. Ive found that I like the mid-centric 700x for music and the shp6000 for gaming/movies. I also found I’d like a more intimate soundstage. I’m trying to decide between the 58x and the 6xx as my next purchase. Would the 58x be a solid upgrade from my current setup or would it be ‘worth’ it to get a budget amp (i.e., schitt fulla 4) and the 6xx. I would love to hear your opinion, I’m on the fence about getting an amplifier as I don’t fully understand the benefits of them or cans with higher impedance. Thank you in advance! My local prices for your reference: HD58x : $125 6xx : $189 Fulla 4: $109
@ryanhostudio
@ryanhostudio Год назад
id probably skip the fulla 4 and go for a hd58x or 6xx. Depends on your music taste. I would say 6xx would mostly sound like an upgrade to shp9600 and ath 700x, but with less treble emphasis and better resolution. The 58x would sound more different, with more low end bass/subbass energy that the other ones have less of
@ryanhostudio
@ryanhostudio Год назад
higher impedance cans basically are good because they are less prone to noisy interference from plugging them into sources (like laptops/pc/amps). The 6xx is 300 ohms and i can run it fine in an iphone dongle or laptop so you dont really need to worry about it to much.

the 58x compare with 6xx and the 600 series is really close in sound performance. 58x is definitely the best buy for its price that can out perform the 600series and sundara. I have all of them and prefer 58x daily use and will decide to sold the rest. I like your review anyway.

58x has better subbass than 6xx and hd600! It’s a good value, the upgrade for you would be the 660s2, it’s basically a better 58x but costs a lot more

I enjoy the neutrality of the HD6XX. At first I was taken aback by the bass. But as I've listened to it more, I feel that there is enough bass, but there's more of everything else now. So perhaps I just enjoy neutral sound. I don't have the other ones. I have heard the jubilee is good for gaming. But at the same time I'm not the type of person that's going to be buying four different headphones for different purposes. I do have the brainwavz hm5. As a closed back alternative. But now my wife took them. But I don't mind. I really enjoy my HD6XX.

people are used to overdone bass even for some people bass determine how good gear is, for me personally it took over 10 quality headphones to understand what real bass is how it need to be balanced with mids and trebles if its not you will never know how music was intended to sound you will get a fake image of sound blurred with too much bass

@@ryanhostudio Exact reason why someone may not like the HD6xx's. I have two Senn's cans and like the sound of hearing vocals and such on them. But if I wanted Bass I would be looking at a Drop HiFiMan HE4XX.

i just tested the newest version of the sundara (32ohm, 92db/mW) and i sent it straight back. very peaky in the higher frequencies, for people who are prone to fatigue on treble heavy headphones I would recommend to stay away from them. I just ordered the 6xx for 179 on massdrop, cant wait to give those a shot.
