OMG...tears in my eyes. I got their self titled album from a bin of used CDs circa 97/98. I was fucked up and spun. Suicidal. I had been raped in 1997 at age 27, and then my longtime boyfriend who I clearly loved more than he deserved, dumped me because of it. I was beyond heartbroken, traumatized and just a mess. I was searching for anything that numbed the pain. I was a single parent, and had to keep working and trying to keep it together but I was dying inside. This album a handful of other music, numbed the pain, gave me some commiseration, understanding and power back. I lived high in the Sierra Nevada mountains, so no TV service. Music was my near sole entertainment and I leaned into it hard. I had a decent stereo, amp/equalizer and bose speakers. I'd just put on music, lay on my living room floor, crank up the music, close my eyes and try to leave my broken body. It took 3 years before I was no longer suicidal. I never even knew what these guys looked like until today. 2 years after I was raped I would meet the man I would marry, but we were just friends for almost 4 years before we started dating. We have been together for 20 years now (married for 16), and he is my best friend and the healthiest, most respectful relationship I have ever known. Worlds from where I was in the late 1990's. Thank you to Sensefield. You truly saved a life. Your art matters. To anyone struggling right now: life does change and it can't suck forever. Change IS the one thing you can count on. Sometimes, it just moves painfully slow. Hang in there. Hugs to those hurting in the world. You matter. Because I said so, and I matter too!
I remember finding out Sense Field was playing near us on the same day. Within 15 minutes, we decided to drive two hours to a Melbourne, FL skate park to see them. I'm so glad we made the trip.
Thank you Jon Bunch. You're voice and lyrics continue to influence me and give me the strength to be a better person. Even though you're no longer with us in person, your spirit and influence lives on. www.gofundme.com/qmmyfwt8
The best i think, though there were a LOT of really great ones.Samiam, Shades Apart, Farside, Gameface Jawbox, Jawbreaker,Texas is the Reason; Sunny Day Real Estate just to name a few...
You can clearly see Jon was under the influence in this set. Not to say it isn't great but those of us that saw Sense Field in the 90s know that at this point he is a shadow of his former self. It makes my heart ache. JON BUNCH FOREVER
@@NOFB I agree, i never got to see them during any era, though i was a huge fan since around 1997, but i have to say, he/they are on fire here.Really impressed!
@@stewartdowouis9218 I agree, "Living Outside" really has some unbelievably good songs, "Burn", "No Medicine", "Feel What You Feel" and more.Kind of a forgotten record. No radio "hits" and no indie cred left after their major label (mis)adventures...
