when it says “you will become a cookie,” the chinese voice ahead actually says, “You will become *yourself* “

I love how after a “dead” body speaks to Sean, the lights go out and someone knocks on the door, his instinct tells him to yell “OCCUPIED” and so he does 😂

I love how after the "meet your neighbor " task the screen was shaking as if the character was trembling in fear. Nice detail

I love where Jack is like "I'm not going to trust a single thing in this game" and the second the game is like "eat a cookie" he's like "oOooOooOoooO 👀👀"

i think the cookie part of "does the tasty cookie make you happy?" "do you like making others happy?" and then asking if you want to become a tasty cookie is them asking "do you want to become a thing that makes others happy"? it may also be asking "do you want to become a thing that tricks others (into believing their happy and that things are alright)?" as that was what the cookie was to the character/player, since they used the cookie to train the character/player and make them think things were good (since they were rewarded for their hard work on tasks). i also think this ties into the wall carving saying "please god protect my soul" because it looked like an older carving from the condition it was in compared to the rest of the room, so it may have been from before they were brainwashed into believing things were "alright". maybe its put in that place (where the character will see before they go to sleep) in order to remind themselves that things aren't okay and aren't safe. this is just my wild theory and i have more regrading other parts, but i know it's probably way off as the game leaves much room for interpretation. this is just part of my interpretation of the game and i don't think it's accurate but it's fun to think about. thank you to anyone who read this ramble! i hope you have a good day/night, wherever you are!

Ok but how cool is it that you play as Valerie in this demo and then she gets possessed and you find her in the basement in the final game. That's a small but very nice touch

My theory when about when the speaker said "come meet your neighbor" and then the room turned red with load music, was for you to associate the monkey as bad so that you wont trust him or want to become friends/and or escape through. Thats why the player started shaking because he was scared, so now he will associate the neighbor as something negative and only rely on the speaker lady as someone good since she gives cookies.

It’s funny how they totally ditched the “wear a coat and gloves” in the finished Mortuary Assistant game.

The message on the wall in the last game said “please God protect my soul” Edit: this makes a lot of sense to why the speaker was asking about the body and consciousness and then reference that they weren’t happy about what you wrote in your “bed.” I feel like they’re trying to take away your idea of “self”

Jack, as freaky as you thought your neighbor was think of this: as soon as he took one look at you he noped right back into his hole.

I’ve woken up from being in a coma and the start of Sentient made me so uncomfortable by how it captured what it was like waking up. My brain/conciseness was awake and clear but my body wouldn’t respond. So I remember seeing the inside of my eyelids but having to fight to get them to finally open - and the long start of this with the ‘light through eyelids’ and the sound brought me right back to that moment it was so similar. FYI Waking from a coma it’s like your consciousness/brain is fully normal No longer synchronized with your body. Plus when you’re in a coma they put a tube in through your lungs to maintain your oxygen level which temporarily warps your vocal cords so you can’t speak at all. It’s scary because you don’t have any idea what’s happening or extent to which there may be damage because people don’t even realize you’re mentally that awake and conscious yet. It takes a few days to be able to speak and regain control of your body again. The first day your body is awake but your body isn’t and you’re aware but people don’t realize. I recently had a family member wake up from a coma and was with her when she was waking up. Just like with me her blood pressure and heart rate went through the roof even though she barely move and they didn’t really think she was conscious yet. The nurses were rushing to sedate her and while they were getting approval from the doctor I realized what was happening. So I took her hand and told her what was happening, that she would regain control of her body and that it was me speaking from my own experience (she had been there when I had woken up from my coma). Suddenly her stats stopped fluctuating, everything normalized and her body was calm. When the nurses came back with sedatives and I explained what happened. I stayed with her constantly go to the next days and continue to speak to her like she was fully awake. When she finally was able to speak again she thanked me because she had been terrified and didn’t know what was happening but she heard what I said and it allowed her to peacefully let herself recover after 💚

I've watched Jack play The Mortuary assistant so many times that I can talk in unison with him and this has only just clicked with me. In the demo you play as Valerie, not Rebecca. Who's Valerie? She's the woman that is locked in the basement in the full game because she got possessed! 🤯 my mind is blown right now x

Sentient seems like an amazing game, and very interesting to say the least. I definitely think that the player is an advanced AI of some kind. My theory is that you're viewing these events through the eyes of an advanced AI consciousness that's been placed within the parameters of a separate simulation program, due to the fact that there are no widows or doors, and the only opening leads directly into another cell. Other than that opening, there is no other obvious way that you could have gotten into your cell. Also, it was suggested that you have no body. If that is the case, I'm guessing the purpose is to see how the AI will respond to various stimuli; with the major focus being on realistic emotional response, and metaconsciousness.

Sentient was one of the most unnerving experiences I’ve ever had. Asian horror doesn’t do jump scares but I kind of wanted one because the dread and anxiety was just overwhelming. I’m sorry Sean, I couldn’t keep my promise. I’m a fake gamer 😭

Maybe the “self” is an AI gaining consciousness, and the room is not physical, its just a render of a test environment and ppl are throwing in imputs to test/train the AI. The introduction of the “neighbour” could be a test on AI's interaction with others or a test if AI can feel fear and threats.

Oh wow! Watching this version of Mortuary Assistant, to the 2nd time he played it, to the final version… I love seeing how the game evolved.

Sentient needs to be made into fully fledged game with a larger story, I found that game so intriguing and hearing Jack’s perspective and theories on it made it even better 💜

This is my second viewing of someone playing Sentient, and I've noticed something - both players were immediately conditioned to stand in the center of the room, when the creepy TTS was talking. Also.... Cookie

The timing of these ads has me scared 🤣 As soon as it said "close your eyes", my screen went black and an ad played and it was a kpop video so I was like "does the character see kpop whenever it closes its eyes"

I love reading the comments theorizing about Sentient. It leaves so much to be discussed. One thing that came to mind for me is that what if the captives are gradually breaking down your character with the hopes of somehow transferring their consciousness or soul to the monkey? That could have implications for a sort of immortality like in "Get Out". And the monkey host is being portrayed to the player as some scary, powerful thing that wants to consume them, which establishes some sort of superiority and objectification. Idk just a fun thought.

For the last game It says “人工知能” and means artificial intelligence so it’s probably a robot like Jack said ~!

I feel like the audience itself was conditioned a bit by this game. Considering it’s 10 at night and I drove to get a cookie after this.
