***[SUPER CUSTOM]*** Serek Lincoln Bass / 34″ Scale / Alembic Activator / Roasted Ash & Maple proud owner of this beauty ! I can't wait to get it. Thank you SEREK !!!!
Really informative video on a topic there isn't much info on, even online. I have the lusithand and love it but don't have enough cash for an alembic! Found the channel recently and enjoying the content a lot
I like the subtlety of the Alembic system and especially with the tone rolled off without gain. I also like its filter a tad better over the sound of the Luisthand. However, the Luisthand system sounds killer and is more aggressive and mid-heavier...a more "wide open" sound and it has the bottom end to go with it- especially with all 4 coils engaged (yowsa). The Luisthand system should cut through a mix somewhat better and is a more complex sound (although the Alembic retains an a slight edge with its high fidelity). I would go with the Luisthand equipped bass as I think it has a more dynamic and powerful sound (even though I would attempt to tame the mids just a bit). You sir are a credit to the luthier community and Serek basses are killer!!!!!!!
Wow, this was an awesome demo, and just the one I needed! I'm a bit of a fan of the Delano Xtender pickup, but in this comparison, I prefer the Alembic setup by a mile. It works perfectly well as is and allows for very useful sounds in all settings. The Lusithand preamp sounds far too resonant for my taste in pretty much all settings. I wonder if this is caused by the pickup or if it's just how the preamp sounds. And I'd be curious how the Alembic preamp would pair with the Delano pickup. I'm planning a custom bass build with a filter preamp paired with a sliding pickup. Something that would actually be a perfect match for the Lincoln body shape since it's inspired by the Gibson Grabber/Ripper basses! 😉 A friend of mine builds sliding pickups with a very flat response and construction which are a perfect match for this type of filter preamp. But I guess it won't be one by Lusithand then. Besides Alembic and Lusithand, there are a couple of other options out there, and a custom-built preamp is another option.
Sounds like the lusitand has a resonant peak at the cutoff even in the flat filter mode. It's really just personal taste, but the alembic sounds a bit more "natural" even with filter resonance on.
I'm really sick of this new youtube thing where it just skips forward in your playlist if your adblocker wont let it play ads. Took me TEN tries to get this video to play!
