Serena Williams - Queen of the comeback (part 4) 

The sequence from 7:35 to 7:54 was absolutely incredible to watch. Probably the best match the Williams sisters ever played. Once they call it quits, will be one sad day for the tennis world.

For me she was at her most delectable. yet powerful in 2008, full fledged African almost bionic queen, haters can't comprehend! Genetics, GOD given. I wonder what will happen to these haters, when African born and breds with Serena like build, but of Sharapovas or Davenports height in Cameroon or from Eastern Nigeria starts playing tennis for real?

everytime i see that point versus venus...i just smile..serena did her thing..i mean i know she lost that point but it was so amazing to see her run from side to side and give her all lol

I wish i could see Venus playing in this form. Her level drops very a lot due to her illnesses.

I believe other than her sister Venus, her toughest opponent was Ms. Justine Henin, who gave her many challenging matches. They both were always very dominant, had great movement, power, shots, and sportsmanship. I think the difference was Serena's serve, which will be missed, as it is/was UNPREDICTABLE and a force to be reckoned with.

a decisive watershed match between Williams sisters because in 2008 US Open, Serena had 8 major titles while Venus had 7. But after this match, the sisters' tennis careers went on divergent trajectories .

I wouldn't consider the 2008 match against Venus a comeback but she did push through that match.

@ffallenaangel With all due respect I think you missed the point of the video. Calling me an IDIOT because I didn't make the video the way that YOU wanted it is very low class. You obviously missed the fact that I generally only show rallies that end in winners, or rallies on key points or with amazing shots. It was the key points that mattered, not which games were won and the video demonstrates that Serena plays better from behind and the key points better than Venus.

this was probably the best match the sisters have EVER played against eachother that rally was INTENSE!!!..too bad it just demonstrates how Venus cannot close out a match when her nerves get the best of her....

I understand that, but there were alot of other matches similar to that one serena has played, it shouldnt be called a gift only when venus is on the other side of the net...well i dnt think we will agree on this but thats fine...i still think serena deserved those for her tenacity mental wise, its part of the game

The 2008 USO match vs. Venus was in the quarters, not semis. She beat Safina in the semis and Jankovic in the final.

Steffi Graf is the queen of comebacks. 1) She won 4 slam finals even though her opponent had served for the match (FO 87, Wim 91, FO 96, FO 99). 2) She won 2 slam finals against Navratilova after trailing her 57 02 (Wim 88) and 36 24 (USO 89) respectively. 3) She beat Novotna in the famous Wim 93 final with Jana 4-1 in the lead in the 3rd, serving. 4) And MJ Fernandez led her 43 (serving) in the 3rd in the FO 93 final. When Serena was down in slam finals she usually folded like a cheap tent. To even COMPARE Steffi and Serena regarding their comeback qualities is an insult to the great German. But such is the current nationalistic woke culture in the USA. Sad!

Is this what this is about? sorry if ure offended by what i said but it has nothing to do with venus...ure still missing the mental factor which is the main thing im talking about and everyone knows it...if venus could have matched serena on that then sure we can talk like that but we all know venus isnt there with serena in that field...as much as i love venus i know that and i know mental ability is probably the biggest factor in player- I recently experienced the difference for myself

I'm not disputing the difference in their mental edges though...that's a given. The big sister rarely wants to kill the little one...she wants to protect her. Little sister on the other hand, always wants to kill big sister (Serena even admitted all this). So at the end of day, your point doesn't negate mine...it supports it! "Venus made Serena's life way too easy...which is probably due to Venus' lesser mental edge." Maybe if I say it that way, you'll see what I mean.

True true....but you must disagree with the belief that Venus is by far the better grasscourt player of the two when they are playing their best...for if you agreed, you would see what I mean even moreso. Serena even at her best should be made to struggle MIGHTILY to get a win off of an in-form Venus on grass.

I love Serena AND Venus, but I can't help but feel that Venus really let Serena win that US Open match.

The Venus vs Serena match was not a good match to add. Was it a great match, yes but it didn’t contain an amazing comeback as the rest. Serena won in straight sets so there was no comeback, duh!

looking too far into it. I only put a question mark on the match we are talking about (which is the biggest question mark of them all), and all of their Wimbledon matches in which Serena won. So really that only means 4 matches against Venus in slams that probably should have gone Venus' way.

@davidlesli Yeah, I kind of felt sorry for Venus too. She played better for most of the match, ,just lost all the "important" points. But she did kind of choke a little in some of those set points she had. All credit to Serena though. She hung in there and capitalized on her oppertunities. Serena can get outplayed in many of her matches and still find a way to win.

We're watching why SERENA is the GOAT. What's happening here is that VENUS, big sister is giving little sister a lesson. VENUS, SERENA always says, is her toughest opponent & brings out the best in SERENA. The fact that the only way SERENA won is because she challenged & review made the difference. I never like watching the WILLIAMS SISTERS play against each other because there's ULTIMATE LOVE between them. But you have to admit, we're watching why SERENA is the GOAT & SHEER TOP LEVEL WOMAN'S TENNIS when these two step onto the COURT.

I've probably watched way more than you...no offense...but I probably have. This match...is one of the hardest to watch, and many agree with me....because this is one of the few times that it's pretty clear that the winner should not have been Serena. And more often than not, it's Venus on the other side of the net when people believe this to be the case in a Serena match. I'll let the 8 set points in one set and 2 in the other speak for themselves....especially the 8.

I never enjoyed/enjoy seeing the WILLIAMS SISTERS, & for that matter any two sisters/brothers playing against each other.

with your theory to me it means we should just take away probably ten of serena's slams - we've seen her get through some horrible matches against good players in slams, usually in the quarters...

I just like the smile on Serena's face when she won the challenge. It's one of a cunning person pulling trick after trick

Thiss inded one of the toughest matches in history to watch. This is one of several wins Serena had over Venus that should not have been.....Venus practically gift-wrapped 3 or 4 of Serena's slams.

When did I say she would steamroll her? If you look back, you will see that too many of those finals between them were straigh set wins. If you can sit there with all honesty and say that those scores alone are not indications that Venus made Serena's life way easier than it should have been, then I sir do not know how else to explain it. No one ever questioned Serena's mentality, but you sure are downgrading the fortitude of Venus whether you know it or not.

Im happy Serena won bc Venus' lame ass most likely woulda lost to either Safina or Jankovic...she be choking so much these days
