Big Thanks to the USTA for uploading this match were history has been made Serena williams clinch her legacy along side with the all time greats of the "Chist Evert queen of clay" and "martina Navratilova one of the greatest in women's tennis", i think the 2014 Us open Run was epic since she lost the past 3 majors before of it to hit 18 GS that was a quiet of story to make and soon very soon in 2019 she will make it to hit that legendary 24 or 25 GS still one page left to be written for this awesome athletic.
As it stands, she and Evert are virtually neck and neck in record after record at this event. They share those 6 wins , but Evert has 31 consecutive wins over Serena's 24 consecutive wins. Chris ended her career at the US Open with an astounding 101 wins and 13 losses in 19 appearances for 88.6% win/loss ratio, reaching the quarterfinals every year and reaching the semifinals every year but twice. She finished her career with 9 finals in 19 attempts. Serena has so far acquired 106 wins ( the most in tennis history male or female) and 14 losses and 10 finals in 20 years for 88.3 % ratio. She threw in a few more losses in the Quarters, and that 1998 early round loss still haunts. Great champions both! How many losses will Serena accrue to reach #7 and her 11th final (if she does) in the next few years? Time will tell us.
When Wozniacki came on the scene she talked smack about Serena, Serena put her in her place with her game! They became best friends and went to each others weddings, Serena lets her game do the talking for her, just ask Sharapova!
@@thelaurels13 It's obvious you're unaware of their history in the beginning! After Caroline made a public apology on social media to Serena somehow they forged a friendship which surprised me. Sharapova was in the mix too, she's the one who started it. Google is your friend, you can find everything, I know it to be fact because I've been watching tennis since the 60's!
@Jacob Watson Nope, this was when Sharapova started the roumer about Serena having an affair with her coach in France. Caroline was dating the golf at the time. Both Sharapova and Caroline's relationships crashed and burned, but Serena said nothing and the rest is history. If you want to know the ends and outs Google it, I'm old and don't remember all the details but had nothing to do with dressing up!
But she didn't face even one top 10 player. Much depth? When a 43-year-old Kimiko Date beat Pennetta and Muguruza in that year? Two players who would win slams in 2015 and 2016 respectively? The 2010s were the worst clown era since the mid-50s.
I like a lot of players not necessarily just American players, I like Caroline as well. But what would we do without Serena, she's kept Women's tennis alive for us Americans. Hopefully Coco will take the torch one day, but it it be a sad day when she retires, haters just hate, it's truth.
The tournament where Serena didn't lose not more than 3 games in all 14 sets she played....an incredible achievement when all of us think winning a grandslam without dropping a set itself is a great thing.
I' have read a lot of unpleasant commentary written about the incomparable Serena Williams! For whatever reason people chose to be negative because they know she's the GOAT (greatest of all time!) This match seems lack of passion from both players; it makes me wonder if its bcuz their great friends off the court.. No engery. I feel like Serena is giving Wozniacki a chance to showcase her talent and push her to win. Too bad Wozniacki do not have that fighting spirit.

Well done by Serena. Wozniacki wasn't bad either. By the way, I couldn't help noticing it: on her WTA profile, it says that Serena weighs 61 kg. Looking at her, I would say over 90 kg would be a more accurate estimation.
