In a rematch of their 2012 final, Serena Williams defeated Victoria Azarenka 7-5, 6-7 (6), 6-1 to win her fifth U.S. Open title and 17th Grand Slam title overall.
During 2012-14, Serena was so dominant at the US Open, only Victoria could push Serena. US Open were so lucky to have back to back finals between Serena and Victoria. Both were classics. I would say 2012 was a better match, but this was great too!!
@B M-Y Sharapova only beat Serena 2 times. Sharapova got a walk over because Serena was injured from playing doubles and singles. So you really can't give Sharapova the same credit as actually taking the court against Serena and beating her. Serena may have beaten Sharapova with the injury, because Sharapova got absolutely destroyed by Muguruza in the next match.
This is awesome... you can tell Serena really wanted this title... but when I tell you both were giving their ALL. I love it! PS: Venus is looking FLAWLESS!
not crazy by the little skirts the women often wear. why not shorts or just below the leggings with a fitted top. i'm not lesbian but these women are top athletes, yet dress like 3 yr olds. just sayin' and really a meh subject but it kind bothers me when i see a match.
Always loved SERENA & VIKKA SLUG-FESTS. These two women brought brought out the best in each other's game and mutual respect. This is TENNIS. To think they're both mommies now... WOW ! And STILL playing consistently better than today's players.
@@Hussein_Nur are you crazy?? Compare the names who were in the mix then and their accomplishments with current "elite"and go watch some matches on YT. Back then, during QF of womens Grand Slams people sat in front of the TV with popcorn and coca cola to watch sports spectacles. These days it doesn't happen in WTA, rarely in the finals only and there is no "clash of titans" anymore (WTA). No stars, personalities except for two maybe three names - most of them: veterans. What's your age if I may ask? Your answer is very uninformed so I assume you are very young. If not, then I must say it is just plain stupid.
@@marcinpapke To your question, I only started watching tennis at 2011. And you are merely being opinionated. Some people like so many players stepping up and winning titles, some like yourself prefer a few players winning 50 grandslams, thats predictable to me, not enjoyable at all. Womens tennis right now is equally good. For example a #100 ranked player can challenge a top 20 player. In 2000s, it was 6-0 6-0. Tennis has gone a long way since then. Womens tennis has become better and better.
No these days they just ain’t consistent and can’t keep the ball in watch matches between Kim Clijsters, and Lindsay Davenport The 2005 Wimbledon final The 2002 french open final The 2002 Aussie final These were regular occurrences back then
Whoever designed the skirt part of Serena's dress did a poor job by not taking wind into account. Serena herself looks uncomfortable when the skirt is constantly blown up, the same thing happened when she defeated Sharapova at the Olympics.
It's not the first or second, time every match serena played an mary carolla commentate she always had a hate for the 👑 go back and look I think it's 2005 or 2007 Australian open with Maria Sharapova
I scrolled looking for this comment because I thought it was just me. She wasn’t nearly as complimentary of Serena as she was of Victoria. Even on points Serena won she was still praising Azarenka more.
Serena said that lady tennis players should be allowed to take thier shirt off on the court! Serena please spare us! Don't ever take your shirt off on the court
