it’s so weird considering that Bertens improved so much and started winning big titles never made such a GS performance since then. It seems it’s easier for her to be an underdog in slams than a favourite
I love this commentator. So fair, no loaded comments, no vailed racism, no favouritism, just a very balanced informative commentary. It's so rare, and so, so lovely to listen to him. I'm a 55-year-old tennis tragic and I've devotedly followed tennis since I was 12 years old. Believe me, this guy is exceptional. Well done Serena. Well done Bertens. And well done to the extraordinary commentator, who's actually just doing what all sports commentators should do. But this guy is just good at his job and is a professional ...
This tournament never should have existed. Players were forced to play in quite horrendous circumstances. And I speak from experience as I was there from R3 to SF. Weather was in average 12-16C and forced to play on wet damp courts. 3-4 hours interruptions were more common than continuous play. HORRIBLE.
It was a difficult tournament. They had record amounts of rain in Paris. If memory serves me, Serena ended up having to play the last few matches with little rest between. Throw in the fact that wet clay really neutralised her serve and voila!
US Open 2014 matches get blocked straight away unfortunately. I've also seen a few people try to get WB 2019 matches up but they're gone within days usually!
Pre-pregnancy and almost dying 😢, Serena would likely retired with 25+ Grand Slams, but she’s still the top GOAT, even some of the haters has acknowledged that! She has a lovely little family, but I wish she would’ve started her family after retirement, because of the close calls with death!
