This was a Venus loss that was very difficult to watch for me. So many chances and she just didn't take them and gave in to Serena. But, that is why Serena has 23 grand slams.. she's just tenacious.
It's so sad that when Venus seemed ready to get back in top of their rivalry she had that horrible abdominal tear and then the disease came shortly after that too. Venus deserves so much more.

Hmm I’m not sure, the mental side of the game is a major part of tennis, and Serena definitely has Venus beat there - it’s why Serena’s won so many tournaments when not playing her best. I’d also say serena has Venus beat in two very important areas: serve and return, there’s no contention in my eyes for the return, serena is just more effective at putting opponents under immense pressure. As for the serve, maybe in its prime Venus’ 1st serve was comparable, just because she hit it so hard, but Serena has always had better disguise and placement, and Serena’s second serve is far better than Venus’. In the ground game, I think peak Venus was the better mover, and possibly better at spreading the court down the lines, but Serena had better use of angles. Obviously Venus was much better at net, but I don’t think she utilised it enough. Overall, the serve and return are so important because they can win you so many free and easy points - maybe Venus had serena in the rallies, but Serena always had the 1st couple of shots of each point better
actually not. Osaka has a game similar to Clijsters which hurts serenas game a lot to add to that Osaka has a very good serve and that is the reason why she has so much success with Serena. Clijsters serve was readable for Serena, osakas is too but the precision is what makes her even more effective than Kim . you don't have to put down a young growing champion in order to put your favourite on a pedestal. Clijsters with lesser but very effective ammunition used to give Serena a run for her money although she lost those battles based on nerves a lot osaka is a slightly better version of Clijsters and that is why she is having more success agains sterna. and you will be absolutely foolish to think that serenas game is not much much better than her best years in 2003. the girls today hit way way harder than in 2003 , run down way more shots , have bigger balls and are lesser intimidated , and also serve a tad bit better serenas serve today is way more effective than back then. todays girls can retrieve this level of service from Serena today, today serenas serve is way more unpredictable and unreadable. Serenas volleys are lethal and effective today, her forehand and back hand are much harder or atleast precise today.... she had to grow with the growth of the opponents in the game as well. Osaka currently is better than Serena, and be kind to give people their due. just like Justine was better than Serena for a few short years from 2004 to 2007. that doesn't change the fact that Serena is the greatest of all time, but she wasnt the best all through . there were opponents who had their moments too .

You must be delusional to think 40 year old serena of 2021 is anything close to the player she was in her physical peak in 2003… serena back then was the best mover on tour after Venus, now her movement is a weakness. Serena was fitter, she was less tight in big moments, she was better at net, just in every way a better player. Serena’s serve today isn’t the serve it was in 2012-16 which I agree was better than in 2003, but since her pregnancy serena has barely averaged above 60% first serves in any tournament. Of course it’s never going to be the same having had her abdominals sliced through for a c-section, but don’t insult peak serena by trying to compare her current game to that

No she won't. Back then power game was new. Now all top players are fast strong. They won't get blown. Osaka's forehand much better than venus and serve is as good
