the commentators in this match made it sound like serena couldn't handle singles and doubles at the same tournament, and she ended up winning both lmfao
I totally agree with you...they were all giddy they just knew Vikka had this match tied up in a nice big bow tie...they forgot who she was playing...Mary Fernandez, Mary Carillo, and Bert Haber I think that's his name all hve problems when Serena is playing no matter who...they're hoping she go down not the G.O.A.T...I think she always bring it up a knotch give her opponent something to wonder what's next.
She did break the open era record. That 24 from Margaret court really doesn’t count. Look up the history about it. I have no doubt she was a great player, but Serena’s 23rd open record is huge!
Serena went to the brink so many times at this tournament and then won the whole thing. 2003 Loit 2003 Clijsters 2005 Sharapova 2007 Petrova 2007 Peer 2009 Kuznetsova 2010 Azarenka The 2003 final with Venus was also close and she nearly went a set and a break down in the 2005 final and I believe 2-0 down in the third in the 2010 final? She also scraped through 7-6 7-6 in the semis in 2010 against Li Na. She finally won the tournament without any trouble in 2015 and 2017.
Serena went to death door from embolism came back won countless slams, serena stuck on 23 talk about the younger ones who retired slamless, when haters love to hate I'm a lover of tennis from serena retired that was it for me
Watching this I noticed how her and Sabalenkas grunts go all the way on the other side of the court. Just long delayed annoying grunts 🙄..that should be hindrance.
The WTA has a low level of play among it's best players. Serena is 40 and is now just a mediocre player like the entire WTA. What is all the hooplah over Osaka beating a 40 yr old woman in tennis, shows the low level of play and low skillset of the women's field. Serena you finally caught up to the league. You are now mediocre as the rest of the top players. You should have 29 or 30 majors by now. You played around and did not take it seriously as you thought your level of play would remain above the field. Now you're stuck on 23 and that will be your place in history, behind Court forever!
What about men's tennis where only three players win at the Majors Djokovic, Nadal and Federer aren't exactly spring chickens either. Imagine thinking Serena is a mediocre player, the competition has obviously caught up to her because she's slowed down a bit. When will we start seeing this happen on the predictable and frankly boring ATP tour?
@@tremaine861 I'm not sure. Hopefully it won't take Djokovic long to surpass Federer and they all can retire so we can follow the younger breed of players. Playing longer is not an issue unless you're not winning. Take a lesson from Brady. No one wants to see him just make the playoffs if he can't win the big one. Serena, hint, hint ..semis is not cutting it
@@kelvinbrown7993 but see Brady is playing a team sport. All he had to do when he got older was pick the right team and become a 'vital contributor' to be considered amazing. The pathway for a player in an individual sport is not the same.
@@tremaine861 perhaps, but the point is he's playing to win the big one not just to have a good season. If you can no longer do that maybe time is up, inevitably that time comes for all the greats. Accepting it and moving on obviously is a tough decision for Serena as she is delusional to think she can still win a major
@@kelvinbrown7993 it's a lot easier to have a good season in a team. Serena is still playing tennis because she believes that she can win one.Only time will tell if she can or not, til then I'll keep watching.
