Why would people make fun of you? That’s ridiculous. Our older son was bullied when he was in the 6th grade because he had matured early. He started shaving when he was only in the 6th Grade. Bullying is horrible.

Your story made me cry, I can relate a lot. People definitely underestimate you if you are quiet. It's a big mistake, still waters run deep as they say. I had extreme shyness growing up and I was bullied hard at school. It hurts so much when you are growing up because like you said, when you are a kid all you want is friends. Being socially isolated feels like a massive rejection. Especially if you were abandoned in some way (even unintentionally) by one or more parents like I was, it effects the future of your mental health and the psychology of your attachment style. I think you will be a great mentor and you can pas on what you have learned about life so far. You will be a great father on day too.

Thanks for speaking up about bullying. You are probably reaching a lot of young people who need to hear positive messages. I was bullied, too before any social media (am 60+ yrs old). Wasn't just at school, was at home with a sister (have 4 sisters). I turned the negative stuff around for a positive way. I stuck up for kids being bullied, I to this day offer kind words to complete strangers who look like they're having a bad day, etc. I also, like you said, followed my own path, and don't regret any of it. Keep up the good work!

There is nothing wrong with being a quiet person. That means you're strong and can deal on your own. With that said,I've never been bullied.They don't want to unleash a sleeping giant. But us quiet folks we're always trying to keep the peace. Because we know at any moment we'll blow up from the things we hold inside. We're like a ticking time bomb. But you have to control yourself and know, if i do this it won't be good. Let shit roll off unless your life is in danger. Just treat people the the way you want to be treated I'm 50 years old now, and been this way my whole life. But when i was youger i was more dangerous because i couldn't understand my feelings. Even though i was quiet i had a violent attitude, probably because of my surroundings. That how i grew up, in the late 80's and 90's. Stay strong young King, keep being positive. I was bullied throughout my schooling because I was autistic and very skinny. Plus, there was a period when I myself became a bully, but I promise you all I am deeply ashamed of that. But I digress. Tim, you shouldn't worry about any of those people who bullied you growing up because chances are, they're now watching your content and therefore kissing your arse.

I grew up with a verbally abusive mother. I had been 18-years-old old and recently graduated from high school when my mother and I got into a huge fight. She told me to get the hell out of the house, and I never looked back. I was estranged from my family for nearly 25 years. Yet, even though I was away from my mother, the seeds of doubt had been planted. Only at that time, it was my own voice telling me I wasn't good enough, I wasn't smart enough, I wasn't pretty enough, I wasn't skinny enough. It took me many decades to learn to love and believe in myself. Stay strong. Don't listen when the voice of doubt enters your mind. Look doubt in the face and laugh. You are still at the beginning if your adult journey. Don't listen to the naysayers. You can do anything you put your mind to...anything and everything is possible.

Thank you for posting this. Our son, now 35 got his Bachelor of Science in Psychology 7 years ago. 10 years after he graduated from high school. He was determined to keep at it. He was diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome when he was 4. And he was semi-impaired. We spent time finding the right school for him year after year when he was growing up. And he was bullied. And as his Mother, it was like a stab in the heart, almost worse. I mean, even at some of his private schools. Even the teachers.

YES, and let's talk about Workplace Bullying- That's one of the most complicated of all. People who excel on their jobs will get bullied if you don't have a good support system. I am a survivor of workplace bullying. You have to have a support system, and believe in a higher power. Document EVERYTHING . And know that Human Resources is not going to help you, and they are not your friend; they only have the companies' interest. The people who bullied you will NOT be reprimanded if it brings a lot of attention to the company.

You emanate such kindness. Maybe you could speak at a YMCA or after school program for youth.

I got made fun of because of my vocabulary. I got here from Hungary and I just learned everything I could. I was 7 and you know you had to be smart in Hungary you just had to at least that's the way I remembered it. And I was having a hard time making friends so I had to dumb it down or I would be alone or picked on. I would even pretend that I didn't know words if I had to read something out loud at school. I stopped talking as much. And then I stopped doing things all together because if I was good at it I was afraid people would pick on me. Jesus thank you for restoring my courage. And my friends thank you so much for sharing your experiences because it gives us a way to have some sort of catharsis ourselves

It’s hard for people to believe in what they don’t understand. The most important thing is to believe in yourself. I was having doubts when my first husband walked out on me and left me with 3 kids. I kept asking myself what did I do wrong, until I realized it wasn’t my fault it was him with the problem. I swore to myself that I could rise up and take care of my kids and myself. Well we made it , just keep telling yourself you can do whatever it takes and don’t worry about those that don’t believe in you. As long as you believe in yourself you will make it , it’s not easy but can be done. You are a very intelligent kind individual keep up the good work and god bless you, I believe in you! You're right about how people perceive someone who is quiet. People thought I either was stuck up or slow and I was bullied too. I didn't get into fights, I just daydreamed through school. It does stick with you. It's good that you are able now, to help others find their voice. You may not have set out to do that but life does have a way to put you where you need to be for you or where you need to be to help others.

Let me tell you about me. I have stutter since I was a kid I never got bullied. As matter of fact I remember being in school at lunch and I would sit at the able with the nerds and the kids who were bullied because the bullies knew I did not like bullies . So they I did not drink, smoke or cuss. So when they came over to say how uncool I was. Reply was if I'm so uncool why are you guys ttrying to hang out with me

Quiet doesn't mean you are not strong... I was shy, until I went off. You can add to what you are doing everyday..... Learn something new all the time, keeps your mind busy and expanding. Eventually you will fill yourself up, in a good way.

I hear you, bullying is way too common, even when this old lady here was little. My whole life changed when my family moved to a different city, different part of the country away from my aunts and uncles and cousins. Everything was different. I had a serious southern accent and we moved to the midwest. I immediately became a target. It was a catholic school, church in the same building. I told my mom and she said they "teased" me because they liked me. They didn't like me. It was lonely and miserable. I was angry and had no outlet. The bullying went on every day for years. I think it was in 7th grade, I had just had all I was going to take and I got into two fights. Girls fight nasty. Even when beating up a boy. All that anger came out. I'm 65 years old, and honestly all that affected my whole life, but I raised my kid to be peaceful and defended her when she was catching crap. I worked hard and was self employed most of my career. I got a therapist. You are so wise, and so much farther along the road of growing and healing than most people your age. I'm really proud watching you work this hard, keep the drive and ambition going and helping other people. Peace and love to you, Tim. And thank you.

I was bullied to. Not physically so much, but I was chubby, unathletic, wasnt that great academically. I was moved from my core friends at the beginning of my teenage years and put in a total strange situation much different from what I was accustomed to. Parents divorced around that time. It still hurts me now, even in my 40s, and affects me to think back on how painful it was. I always wonder how different and better things could have been. I was always an "Old Soul".

I graduated high school in 1997 and throughout school I was bullied for not being rich and being a big guy tall and huge I had very few friends I got along with the younger classes in my high school and I've been out 27 years now and back then it was horrible and now with the technology bullying is so much worse but I've had like three class reunions and I never have attended any of them because it's a sore spot with me and I have had a couple people who had bullied apologize while it took a lot for them to admit there wrong and apologize I still felt bad but thankfully as I grew older I can deal with it better than before I hope and pray anyone who is getting mistreated will realize you all matter and you all are unique in such a way that makes the world a better place

People bully because they are insecure with themselves. Many times if they have been bullied, they do it themselves. It is a vicious cycle...or may come from a very dysfunctional family. Role models may be toxic. There are alot of these kinds of people...unfortunately. 😳🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🙄🤢 In the end, it speaks more about them...than the person being bullied. You just have to be true to yourself & not let those people bring you down with them. 👍😊

I was being bullied too growing up

I am anti -bully. As a teacher, I helped a lot of people who had been bullied. I then approached the bullies and tried to change their outlook on life. Now, my youngest has been going through some bullying in school. It is hurtful and can cause damage. Keep talking about it! You will reach people! Love ya!

Bullies SUCK! When I was a kid in the 70's, I had glasses, braces, and acne that was so bad that it had to be treated by a dermatologist by age 9. Some kids were cruel. I am 52 and it sticks with me to this day.
