Find the part at Amazon here: amzn.com/B009AA... Step by step how to service an air bag sensor on a 2007 Silverado Z-71. It's actually not that hard. Took about an hour.
This video was a great help to me in repairing my "Service Air Bag" message on my 2007 Suburban k1500 Z71 with 184k miles. I listened to the video twice and then proceeded to repair the problem with a driver's side sensor for $85 from Advanced Auto. The "bulge" on the sensor is exactly what I found on my sensor. I also checked the bad sensor with an OHM meter and got a reading of infinity. I also agree that it is a good idea to disconnect the battery prior to performing any work on the Air Bag system. Thanks so much.
Thanks for posting this I have my truck into the dealer right now for a recall for the airbags. The dealer called me and said they completed the recall work but I need a new sensor. They quoted me $475 to repair it. “no thanks” was my reply. And after that call I find this video. thanks again
Soo so sorry guys...... Lmao I'm JUST now about to fix this! I posted that comment 2 YEARS AGO ! AND I'M JUST GETTING TO IT! Wth. So anyway, I'm on my way to the store 😂😂😂😂😂
Thanks for posting this video saved a lot of time and money. I'd like to add that removing the plastic skid plate really makes connecting and disconnecting the plug way easier than leaving it on.
This video makes me happy. That same air bag light came on while I was driving home tonight. I was worried Id have to shell out a few thousand dollars to clear it
Replaced both of mine today on 2007 GMC Sierra after dealer diagnosed both as bad. Watched this video and saved nearly $700 off dealer quote by ordering the parts online and installing them. Less than an hour start to finish. It would have been faster with a ratchet wrench. I am a DIYer, but not usually on the vehicles.
I've got the same truck and just this week also started getting the same tire pressure sensor and air bag message. Someone told me that the reason the air bag message came up was cause I just recently hit 100k on odometer. Whatever,,,, I like you answer better and really do appreciate the heads up with this video.. tanx
donald johnson did you ever find the problem. I just hit 135k. Airbag sensor or course and the tire sensors. I can’t get them to read the pressure after many failed learning attempts.
My airbag message came on at 100,000 miles on my 2007 GMC Sierra too. Coincidence? I think not!!that's why it will just stay on. My Chevy dealer wanted $140 just to diagnose the issue and then more to fix once the issue was determined. Screw GMC!!! When it's obviously a common issue, our government should make them fix it for free since this issue is obviously a scam
Excellent , that's what you got to do to say money ! , and you saved a lot of money by not taking it to a shop, let alone the dealer. And the special feel for irregularities by using your finger , sure paid off... Good job.👍🏻
Just swapped my drivers side sensor out of my 2007 Suburban. As stated in the video, the sensor was protruding so I figured that was the bad one and the swap out worked like a charm!
well after changing out the air bag sensors and come to finding out that that wasn't the problem I put the original ones backb got my money back cause they're expensive, I started checking the plugs underneath the passenger seat. I unplugged them and sprayed them with wd40 and reconnected them, after and few days I guess the truck computer took care of the rest cause the air bag warning notice is no longer showing.
where can I find the passenger sensor bec I have bought two sensors and I reset it and it was good for a day but next day turn back on so I'm guessing it's not a sensor it might be a plug like you said..thanks in advance
If a car has been hit at any time it might have disabled the seat belt! If that's so the belt won't retract or latch like it's supposed to. This happened to a friend's 2011 Silverado, when he hit a cow one night!! He had to replace bot seat belts to get the damn light off!!
thx for the video, i pulled both sensors out there is a very slight bulge in both sensors. Both seem identical. Anyway to test the sensor? Maybe both are bad
Bro that wasn't a save. 😖 no disrespect, you were already looking into the problem on your own when you sat and watched this video........ so next time, CONTINUE working on it on your own and DO THE LABOR. I gotta be honest it sounds like you SPENT about $375 to SAVE IN LABOR.....on a job that might've taken you an hour to do on your own (and I think labor these days are at about $70 an hour?). I can't stop typing things into this box because my mind is absolutely blown right now lol.... but.... ugh! No disrespect.
You think the manufacturer would make it a little bit easier you get to a safety device why so much money they seem to all fail and we put up with it it just angers me it should be a lot easier I wonder if you should unhook the battery when you're working with the airbags
Mine does that at every beginning of winter. It just goes away after a few days/week. Probably a mixture of colder air and condensation triggering something
So can anyone confirm a bad sensor has a bulge on housing, mine does? Can these sensors be tested, I have 1 sensor? I'm way to cheap to buy a scanner right now and auto stores will not scan because of Corona. Came on after I was done washing my truck after replacing cab corners and rockers that were welded in, I disconnected battery and computer before welding. 2006 2500hd work truck.
I have a 2007 Chevy Suburban. The door chime alarm, turn signal clicking sound and all other audible sound the vehicle usually makes are not working. I there a module or relay that works all of these? Where is it located?
Daniel if your still having trouble with audible vehicle sounds check to make sure your radio speakers are not dead. Use balance and fade to check each. Most sounds on 2007's come from speakers and stock speakers didn't last long.
What was the code that you had for this. I have a B0020 -2 passenger instrument panel air bag deployment loop Stage 2 short to Ground. Any help would be help full. Thanks
So, I went over mine, and it seems they both have a bulge to them? On the left side however, the bolt does have some surface rust. So could the left one be faulty? From moisture? Any thoughts?
they come and go. Keep looking. they didn't sell them the 1st time I was looking but I checked back a couple weeks later and they were on sale again. Price point should be around $68
Lmao. ALL your lights are on why does it matter if airbag one is on too. Lmao. I have lights on and I really don’t care as long as it does not effect my truck driving the lights can stay on. Seems like every week my truck wants a new part and throws a light in my face. Lol. Well they can all stay on. Don’t care really. Just had airbag light come on and I’m not spending more money for that sensor. 😂😂😂
