Not a fan of sucking up the oil through the dipstick, don't see the point, and you never get all the old oil out this way, plus it's a good idea to check the sump plug for any metal particules, simple way to see if there is anything grinding inside the engine, it will be stuck to the magnetic sump plug. Also did you ever get a look at the Cambelt condition? :)
I would always drain oil from the bottom. you risk leaving all the worst of the old oil and any metal fragments in the sump which will build up over the years if you always change the oil in this way
I've got one of these oil vacuum pumps. They are generally pretty good but the success rate seems to vary from engine to engine. I change oil more regularly using one too as I'm not convinced it picks up any sediment off the bottom of the sump.
Leaving 5% odd old oil makes it less sufficient, when I do an oil change on my old car, I remove the sump it drain, then remove the sump, clean replace seal, sump nut and oil ring.. it is a 1973 VW 1303s, but that's my way and oil is changed every 2500 miles.
Deusche Auto Parts reviewed one of these oil pumps and it was alright. There is always a bit of oil that the pump doesn't get but it's irrelevant. And I prefer the other method.
Hi Paul another great video and the seat is looking really good now and well done for doing the service and hope you are staying safe and well and hope you make a good profit on it and have you found another car yet then
Hi Paul, good to see you moving some cars on,seat looks good.Have you had your meeting with copart yet? if you have are you doing a video on it,i think a lot of subscribers would be intrested in what copart have to say,i certainly would as copart have more excuses than the goverment and that takes some doing. One thing i would like to say is that i think subscribers would have liked to have seen a much more in depth service, including brakes ect.Keeep up the good work.
Hi Paul, I dont suppose you know whats going on with the v5s at copart do you? I've brought a car and in the details it says it has a v5. But its not in the car. Will they send it out to me? Tried getting hold of copart but its hard work getting any reply from them. Thanks
Bought a small pump for when I had a Smart as they have no sump plugs and only way to drain the oil, I must admit I take my car in to change oil every 6K as don't trust BMW long service intervals
I can't see why you did this as you have to take the plug out and I can't see why you took the oil filter out and then run the car as you would off put all that bad oil back in the new one 🤔
