Set DJ Carl Cox - SONIGATE 

A laptop computer and the computers in the DJMs (or any of the computers found in the industries' leading DJ hardware for that matter) is a ridiculous argument. Comparing "laptop djs" vs a "real dj", or anyone who doesn't use a laptop but uses the computers in DJ hardware is like arguing who is better because they drive a 2014 Prius as opposed to a 2013 Prius. Except its usually the idiots driving the 13's bitching and moaning to the drivers of the 14'. Its absolutely absurd. They all use computers nowadays. Almost everyone in clubs nowadays uses computers to DJ. Yes their are exceptions, but by and large computers are controlling the music and people are controlling the computers. ANYTIME you see anything w Pioneer, Allen and Heath, Traktor, Ableton whatever. Its all the same, virtually speaking. One person may twitch there hand on a turn table with a little more ease or with assistance now and use one less button to do whatever and...oh well....they aren't really DJing.....

there is no sync on cdj2000, only on cdj2000 nexus and that only keep the bpm the same, with laptop it will do everything for you, bpm and drop the track on the first bar ect. being a dj is more than beat matching anyway, so so much more

the time is gone, when djs were used to do everything analog. nearly nobody is interested to take his whole vinyl collection to his gig if he is able to do the same without carrying 30 pounds of vinyl with him. the only thing i dont like is when they just play one song after the other, this is not a dj, i was able to do that as i was 12 ;D

Vello FfM if you mix vinyl disk or if you mix digital with 1/2 analog 1/2 digital synthesizers is not deciding who is a better dj, but I guess everyone here is sure that david guetta is a cockface haha

To sum up, if one song is 123bpm and the next you wanna play is 125 you will pitch it down so it's now 123bpm like the one actually playing and so and so

KLAUS Prime guess he talked bout´, that these things are bpm controlled so they are not necessary, but yeah . . every good dj is using those things.

if you cant do it without these gadgets, you are not a proper dj in my book. Whats next? the machine suggests a set of tracks to mix in next based on key, tone and style? maybe heat and CO2 detectors to gauge the size and excitement of the crowd for you?ffs

They don't stay at 0% they are all different, the reason you don't have to mess around with the pitch so much is because unlike other cdjs they are nearly 100% accurate in reading the bpm so once you set it, it is correct. Also these do not have the sync function on them, I should know I have a set

Yeah im talking about when nothing did any reading and setting of BPM for you you see. Have you ever mixed two vinyl records together with nothing but the pitch faders and your fingers? I first saw Cral Cox play in 1994, he mixed that way on 3 decks, which is skill.

yep, that's what I started on back in 1999 :-) technic sl1200s, still have em. I think anybody learning to dj should learn to do it by ear first, then use software,

it certainly doesnt seem like its a much fun, theres no sense of achievement if anyone can do it maybe im just getting old..

I know what you mean, but nowadays its more about cutting and effects ect. on the fly, that's the way I see it going anyway.
