Hi, I have exactly this problem but due to the newer version of Unifi, I cannot find the settings you are adjusting. Can you provide a new video or explanation showing where the allowed authorisation access can be found? Unifi now refers for isolation stettings to traffic rules, but I don’t know how to set them. Thanks in advance.

Nice Vid, but cant get it to work. must be me, I've tried every vid out there and Unify simply wont allow printer to work accross multiple Vlands.

Thank you very much! Your video solved a problem I have had for a while. Alowing my guests to access the main network printer. Ubiquiti support told me it was impossible because of the nature of the guest network. Even though the UI have changed since you posted the video, and I had to search a little, you pointed me in the right direction. Guests can now print as they wish but they are still blocked from other devices on my other networks. Many thanks again.

This is a great video on a topic of great interest. Many thanks!! But UniFi has updated the Network to version 8.x.x, where the menus have largely changed. Do you plan to make an update?

YOU came just in time I needed to do this lol. now just so I can learn why port 5353 when it comes to mdns? I'm learning so I don't know how this works but it works lol

Perfect! Glad it it helped 🙌 Port 5353 is used for name resolution on small networks on the multicast range. It basically asks all devices directly instead of looking at a DNS service.

I just started with Unifi, and noticed that the new interface is completely different than your video (and others that I have found). I have the same issue with my Guest VLAN. I would like my guests to be able to print to my printer on the main VLAN, and use AirPlay. Would you be so kind and update your video. Cheers, Doug

I have never really done a side by side test with it turn on and turn off. I dont see any impact on my network.

Thank you so much for this. Do you know how to make this happen with my setup ? Edgerouter-edgeswitch-unificontroller. I have my client vlan50 and iot vlan107, have my airportexpress acting aiplay device on my vland107 but cant stream from vlan 50. How do i apply this settings on my edgeouter ?

Great video! Some of the settings are gone in the new UI. Where did they move "Allow Authorized Access" to?

Profiles - Guest hotspot - scroll down to the bottom. You can find a lot of functions under "profiles" now.

After turning on mDNS, setting an allowed IP on my guest network and setting a firewall rule. I reconnect to my guest network but the printer does not show up at all on my Mac or iOS device. I must have another firewall rule that’s getting in the way. Can’t work it out though :(.

My iPhone now DOES see my printer which is on its own VLAN and SSID, and when I attempt to print it seems to initiate, but nothing ever happens, and the printer doesn't ever indicate it's receiving data. Any ideas?

if you set an Android TV with Airplay on your IoT network and you want to use Airplay mirroring with your iPhone or Mac that resides on Main LAN... you can't...i mean if you try you will see that the SONY Airplay TV device will be listed as a supported device but when you select it a blank black image will be displayed on the display of the TV. i have set as first rule the ALLOW Established/Related traffic..and as for last rule the BLOCK intervlan communication between RFC1918 vlans... i have made some tests and notice that Airplay it works when you create a third rule that ALLOWs the SONY TV intervlan with the Main Lan device that mirrors the display......so weird...so Airplay Mirroring needs a bidirectional communication between the client and the server device...

i dont see anymore in the 6.2.26 version of the controller the option "Allowed Authorization Access". Also in the latest controller version i was able to access the Airprint printer from within Guest LAN without creating an MDNS Guest Local firewall rule, but only ione LAN IN rule Allow access to the Guests users to the Ip of the printer..

They must have removed it from the latest version. Have switched back to the old interface, most likely it is there?

@@InsideWire this is correct..i dont see why to have this option included from the moment you can use the firewall rules to do so. It may creates confusion authorize/deauthorize subnets externally of the firewall Section dont you think?

I can see someone less technical using this without needing to know ports etc. The software should be clever enough to realise the authorise and deauthorise stuff..

Thanks for the tutorial - I have one very odd problem though. I followed all your steps as best as I could tell (my unifi console looks a bit different). I can connect my AirPrint printer from the guest wifi, but NOT on the regular LAN wifi. I've tried creating a firewall rules to allow MDNS on LAN local and Internet local in addition to Guest local. Could you suggest what might be the cause of this? Correction - I can sometimes see the printer on the guest, and sometimes on the main wfi...but it is inconsistent and when I switch between wifi, it is generally only see on one of the two wifi networks at any one time. - super weird! Correction 2: Wait a little while, then the printer is visible on both main wifi and guest wifi

@@InsideWire Unfortunately not. Working on main wifi, not working on guest wifi. (Left it for an hour or so between joining each network)

Hi mate, nice video. I came here because I experience some problems. I’m having an brother dcp-1612w printer. I use 2 unifi ac nano hd accespoints. When i’m connect the printer to internet it is showing for about 1 minut. After that i cannot see the device or add it at configuration screen or my phone with the iprint app. Do you know what can cause this problem?

No problem. You already have mDNS enabled right? I have no come across this before. Not seen a printer just drop off the network before.

Problem solved, seemed like the room with the printer had some very thick walls. Unlike the singnal was ‘strong’ enough, it seemed to impact the signal. After adding another accespoint the problems were over. Thnx voor reaction!

Im guessing you want to use the iOS device to play on the SONOS? I have not tested this with SONOS, but would assume it would.

@@InsideWire I have not done this in a few years not on a USG, but from what I remember setting it up on a pfSense box it needed the IGMP proxy package PIMD installed along with 5 or 6 ports opened from IOT to LAN subnets.
