Chalk test, then add 5psi to the front, and if light/unloaded optional remove 5psi from the rear. let me know your thoughts!

Glad I watched this video. Just rotated my 24/12.50/35 . Was woundering why my front tires still looked almost brand new and my back looked worn.

Were you running low pressures as he suggests?
@bdhmbre

@@hoobeydoobey1267 yes. Lower pressures, especially when daily/city driving, reduce how much your tires scrub while turning. Also cushions aggressive throttle and brake applications.

I just got 285/75R18 Duratracs on a 2020 Tundra TRD PRO & did the chalk test which to make all tread lay flat I had to go down to 36psi front and 31 rear. There is hardly any bulge in the tire on front or rear which makes me think that this is an acceptable pressure. Rides fine.

Question: What about while towing? I'm guilty for over-inflating, with 295/70r18 (34") tires towing 13k lb toy hauler I go to 70psi (tires rated for 80) because I want to minimize the sidewall flex which can be very scary when winds hit the side of my trailer...my whole family can feel that and it's not fun. As a result I over inflate to reduce sidewall flex. I'm probably wearing tires faster this way, but it feels safer to me. Perhaps the 2500 coil suspension is the biggest reason this is happening?

Emailed your company the other day about the steering issues on a used, lifted 3rd gen Ram I bought recently. Air pressure was the first thing they suggested along with your beefy track bar. I was shocked to learn how low the pressures should be on oversized (from OEM) tires. Ran a chalk test yesterday and 50 psi in front as they rec'd showed even wear. On the rear your guys rec'd 35-40. I ran chalk at 40 psi and the center chalk was worn off more than the edges so I need to reduce to 35 for even wear. If I understand your rec, the procedure is to find the psi at even chalk wear then add 5psi to the front and take out 5psi from the rear. Thus, I should change to 55/30?
@BrianLampright913
@BrianLampright913 3 года назад
I didn't think I was running too high of a pressure unloaded until I watched this video, I usually drop to 50/40 with 35's on my 2500 Cummins. I noticed my Nitto's are wearing out VERY fast, with 20k miles I'm down to 7/32 which means they will be worn out by 30k. Center appears to be wearing faster than side. I just recently dropped to 45/35 for the winter, but it seems I should have been at lower pressures all of the time and maybe even lower than 45/35...I'll try the chalk test at that pressure.

I use the tire manufacturer's inflation table after having weighed the front and rear of my truck empty. When I tow, same thing; inflate for the weight the tire is actually carrying and your ride will improve as will your tire life. I used the AEV Procal to drop the required pressure in the TPMS. BTW, great videos and great products!
@hoobeydoobey1267

I weighed my truck with weighed 7700 total, 4440 front, 3260 rear. So divide each axle weight in half and find inflation for that half weight?

Hey Don, any advise for a 3500 megacab dually? I'm up one size(Toyo AT/2, love em!) from factory tires. All stock otherwise. Planning your soft rate coils, shocks and rear leaf packs. Unloaded ride is STIFF! loaded 1500+ is much better!

navseal345 not really that’s my whole point. It’s super simple. Main point is do the chalk test front and rear to find your ideal pressure, then add 5psi to the front tires!

I have 37x13.50r24 Toyo open country rt trail f rated max psi 95 and I don't carry heavy loads in my truck and after the shop lifted my truck and added wheel/tires they left them all at 36🤷🏽‍♂️.. I feel like I need to add more air because when I look at the wheels I see that the sides are a little higher than the middle..can you give me a ballpark figure of what might be a decent range?

So, I just got a brand new set of Falken Wildpeak AT3 tires in 35x12.50x20 and they are mounted on a 2021 Ram Limited 2500 with factory 20” wheels. I’m never loaded and I’m just wondering what to run these tires at for everyday driving. I see the consensus is 45/35; 50/40; and 35/25. I just want the best life out of these tires, aside from rotating them… Thank you!

@Christopher - I have a 2021 2500 Laramie with 35x12.5x17 Toyo AT3's. Did the chalk test and turns out 50psi front and 35psi rear, unloaded, is the ticket for my truck. I could probably go a little lower in the rear, but I'm happy with 35.

@@forevertexas76008 Same results I got on my 35 NittoT/Gs on an 07 Ram 2500. But in this video, he's saying to raise the front 5 psi and decrease the rear 5 psi after finding even wear during chalk testing, correct? Since 50/35 is even wear, I need to change to 55/40?

I have toyo open country c/t 35x12.5x17, on a ram Cummins 2500 only way I can get the tread to Lie flat is to over inflate the front tires by about 5-7 psi. They are max 65 psi and are rated the same or even maybe higher then the factory tires. Any thoughts? I did the chalk test when I installed the tires. I run the back about 60 psi.

Yeah there is no way you should be recommending people to run a F rated tire at 24psi in the rear dude.. I know your a smart guy but that is absolutely ridiculous. 40 should be the absolute minimum for a 3/4 or 1 ton truck. Also he front should be more with a diesel wig all the extra weight..
