Regional and Oberliga South 2023/24 - Regional League Men South
TV 1879 Hilpoltstein II: TTC SR Hohenstein-Ernstthal II
Sunday, March 10, 24, 5:00 p.m
GAME STRATEGY:
-I found that when I tried to turn the corner and use the forehand from the backhand side in the match he was too good at blocking me wide and would lose the points.
-I also found that playing from one step off the table also resulted in him blocking me around too much.
-My strategy was to stay close to the table and play backhand to backhand, after my serve he would usually push long and I would open with Backhand and try to stay in backhand. When he served I would try to flip with backhand and play backhand to backhand.
-When I was serving to his backhand he would usually float one a little bit high to my backhand, I felt I could loop over the table but ended up missing a LOT so I started to serve short to his forehand and I didn't have to deal with this ball.
I will try to do a verbal commentary on future videos but just wanted to get this video out and get the ball rolling again!!

The evolution of the art of choing is getting better, great stuff! Always a joy to watch your games, I never fail to be amazed at how quickly you get around the table. I'd love to have a rundown at the end of these matches, what you felt went well/wrong, any tactical changes you consciously made throughout the game, etc. KUTGW!

Your forehand was really good this match. When you're able to stay close to the table you're really able to put a lot of pressure on your opponent.

Hi Seth, great match, well done. You seem to take control really well on your receive with your backhand flick. Really curious about your experience in Germany. What number are you playing on the team? Do you feel much pressure as i know the german clubs have fans who show up to watch games so quite different to playing individual events. What are your goals for next few years and how high do you think you can climb on the German TT ladder? I've watched a lot of lower league German TT and level is insane in Divs 2/3/4. Anyway, keep it up! John

Are you playing for Hilpoltstein2? Great! I often watch videos from Steinbrecher(stonebraker). I like this team very much, and I took training at Alexander Flemming.. living 50 km from there. But I am not too good, playing in the lowest league. I have to watch more tutorial videos from you, that helps. Thanks so much for that and much success for you in the rest of the season!

Congrats! A very good play from your side. Your opponent has a very good blocking skills and you were loosing many bh balls in the first part of the match. I think what helped was changing your bh ball placement and spin, and trying to utilize your fh as much as possible. I'd love to hear your "story" about the strategy and tactics during the match.

I trusted that my backhand would start working it felt good but just kept missing but I kept going, I was serving to his bh and he would give me this really medium long high ball to my backhand and I kept a shooting it out, so I started changing my serve to his forehand and the ball he gave was cleaner for me.

You do a lot of flips on the serve return. Is it specific spin you look for or do you just flip everything and say "I'm flipping this one"?
@PechPongMatches-bx2qe
@PechPongMatches-bx2qe 3 месяца назад
I just decide to flip and if it’s under or side I lift more and if it’s top I play over the ball flip. I have to guard against the long serve mentally.

Hey Seth, huge support first of all, I have two questions. Are you considering trying an wtt event and doing like a video about prep for it and everything on your main channel, could be cool! Also your thoughts on Chinese rubbers on bh?
@PechPongMatches-bx2qe
@PechPongMatches-bx2qe 4 месяца назад
Hey I have no plans for playing WTT right now just focusing on playing tournaments and league I know I will perform well in and building up that way. I think on BH Chinese rubber is good for flicking, pushing, counter looping. But not so good for blocking, if this suits your game and you want to kick more on backhand than block I think it’s a good idea.
@TimeForGamers
@TimeForGamers 4 месяца назад
Awesome Seth, totally understand, but who knows we might see you on wtt one day, which I think you deserve. Also thanks, yeah I'm currently trying Chinese on bh and it works quite well, but if not I'll go back to hybrids, thank youu!

Forehand counter on fire this match. Also serving a lot of reverse pendulum, more than I remember. Specific to opponent ?

Thanks yeah forehand was on fire, I guess it’s opponent specific if they have trouble with reverse I like to mix them in.

Open your racket angle and swing more vertical, use the opponents speed on the ball and only focus on lifting up!
