This is the first video of your I've seen, I love the tool tip edits and how you edit in audio from the games as though you are living in the sims. It's definitely convinced me to subscribe, its such a fun approach to a sims video
Sim dying in CAS is so unsettling and terrifying. This whole scene gave me an experience or a sense of a very vivid dream while having a high fever. I still cannot really understand what is real anymore. I think I’m a bit broken...
That little CAS animation he does at 20:40 seems to be sped up, which makes me think he might be panicking? (Sims can enter a state of panic when around a fire, which makes their animations speed up 2x - if you've ever seen a fire in TS2 you probably know what I'm talking about)

I did notice someone else uploaded a short video clip of a Sim freezing and that was actually the first time I became aware of that, so then I was thinking 'what if I did the opposite instead?' XD
I've been trying to limit it to just neighbourhood stuff (to avoid reinstallation,) and it's hard going against my instincts haha, but there's so many interesting things to test so it's conflicting.
You can access to some CAS items. In modthesims there is a category called "unlocked" or "maxis lost & found" there are some hairs, clothes, and items like the CAS paintings/pictures and the window :)
Oh yeah I did read about that section but didn't really look through. I noticed you could download some stuff that was just in beta videos and a broken snow globe with the Goths in.

this is honestly so wild lol. i haven't been able to watch the complete videos lately because of a concussion :( but i've been skipping through them from time to time and they're so interesting! i've always had this fascination with corruption/breaking games and i love the sims 2 but these are like.... never seen before :p love your videos!

Yeah I should have tried that really. Something tells me they wouldn't have gone to the normal photo room lol who knows where they would have ended up. 😂 Will probably try that later. I'm still reluctant to try certain things like saving Sims from from CAS but I probably could have entered the lots since I have backups of the neighbourhood and I think the Sims end up in the neighbourhood files only as well.
oh man, Blightgate is such a good name for a sims town, I love it. Also I totally get the anxiety because ts2 is already frighteningly good at corrupting itself, let alone messing around with stuff you definitely can't normally mess with
Thanks as always for the exploratory videos! You're right, this is completely unique; I've never even thought of messing with CAS like this. I'm that the sims can't die in CAS, because when they keel over from cold they don't die, but not reacting to the fire is also interesting. And if they can't die, can that code be repurposed for other lots to make your Sims death-proof...? 21:40 is when the poster disappears, by the way! I think it actually was consumed by the fire. That's crazy. The way you pronounce 'plumbbobs' is so fun :) Might just be because I'm American; I've always said the "plumb" bit to rhyme with "dumb".
I think there could be mods that do that but not sure. I know the InSimenator has the option to make Sims fire proof at least, and you can freeze motives not sure about death proof in general though. I actually think if they don't die in this lot it's probably just because most death involves an interaction or or motive decline. Oh yeah I did wonder if it was the fire, but I had no idea paintings and stuff on walls could be burnt. Yeah I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be rhyme with dumb tbh like plumb-ing and I thought about that after. I just always pronounced it that way before I started hearing people say it for some reason when I was younger, so it's kind of a habit but I don't think anyone else does that. 😅
The Sims 3 uses the create a sim lot too well several lots if you include expansion packs whereas the Sims 4 just uses one Create a Sim Lot which is just void.
Oh interesting I thought CAS wasn't a lot in The Sims 3, but I do have that installed so might have to look through the files and stuff. In The Sims 2 there are actually a bunch of CAS screens too for every expansion (plus YACAS for uni hoods,) in the game files, but only the most recently installed one is active in the game.
Ooh that is an interesting idea, although I think it probably wouldn't do much because the Sim with the cutscene would have to be part of a playable household for it to work. When I used the move objects cheat before to place a Sim I'd moved into the CAS lot into the room, they never showed up later when I loaded CAS. The only Sim that showed up was the stray hybrid-pet I moved there and I think it's because they weren't part of the household so you can make visitors to the lot wander around as usual but I haven't tested that with a normal visiting Sim yet. I just think that's how it works because like I said I saw one of the vampire townies in someone's custom CAS screen.
Any Game starter disc version or UC version does work as you listed. it modifies the registry keys to tell the computer your game is the AGS version. can make up to 3 AGS versions on top of your main save game. only one it can't remove for UC is masion and garden.
I know I'm not sure what I expected to happen but it really wasn't that. I thought it either wouldn't work or the fire would just happen and that would be that within the room but it completely messed with the camera lol.
Yeah I'm not sure why I didn't do that I was kind of distracted I guess lol. I just uploaded another video where I experiment more in CAS, and you can see the other room during parts of it and also the 'other room' in some parts lol.
broken sims and bugs don't phase me but somehow seeing CAS from other angles is so freaky to me lol. I feel like im snooping in God's bedroom or something
Yeah The Sims 4 especially with re-shade is pretty good for photoshoots or random cinematic stuff so thought I'd make use of it since I wanted to build an avatar for videos. Shame the gameplay isn't as good as in 2 and 3 though.
I had this at 14:56 where the camera just moves away too or the sim looked to the wall and idk why .-. I guess I had an Modconflict but I was shocked and first thought my Game is broken XD
@@CalipersandTongs Yeah funny thing was that none of the mods i had actually modified the camera or something in cas so I was really wondering why that happend... after I put out the supernatural mod (sadly) it worked again idk with what it conflicted that cause I just had mods like notownies or other completely different mods on it
Thanks :) I did actually have a fourth video planned where I was trying to get Sims to give birth in CAS a few months ago, but I couldn't get it to work so I kind of abandoned that. I might make more CAS videos one day though and plan to make more Sims video in the future.

Yeah if you have seasons installed the Sims randomly freeze all the time for some reason if you don't use any game starter when you edit the lot (time seems to move weirdly in CAS.) I thought that was funny though so just left it. Also stray pets wander in if you don't disable pets. I think that's why it let me bring the wolf onto the lot for the Dying in CAS video (though later when making the abduction video I found a way to get certain NPC's like bartenders onto the lot.) I had to use and/or create mods to do all the create a Sim videos though.
Some other ideas for killing off sims in CAS. *Flies - Putting a bunch of trash into CAS could cause death by flies. I'd guess that this won't work as they'd need to walk around to do this and they still seem to be doing the interaction which attaches them to CAS. *Hail - Having a sim set the weather-machine to hail then reusing the lot could cause death by hail. *Starvation - Having some evil snapdragons could cause this. *Fright - Ghosts do seem to interrupt sims from their current action however the issue is getting them active and ensuring that the CAS sim has low enough needs to die. Evil Snapdragons should lower needs enough, meanwhile using the weather machine to set it to lightning or using the insiminator to spawn the ghosts beforehand seems like the best bet for this. I wonder if any of these will work.
I tried killing some Sims by flies in another video but it wasn't happening and they ended up dying from starvation lol. I'm not sure how much mess you have to create but it's never happened naturally in my games for some reason lol. Might try some of the other methods though. I've decided that what I'll do is just record the death and then force the game to close using ctrl+alt+delete or something that way it won't save whatever weird stuff happens with the Grim Reaper and should be OK (in theory.) Also I think evil snapdragons are just in The Sims 3 unless there's a mod? Speaking of mods that can cause death there is another one I might use that I remembered about recently.
Evil snapdragons are actually from Sims 2, you can make them with the flower arranging bench if the sim has a golden flower arranging badge. They're more likely to turn out bad if the sim has a low aspiration. Death by flies requires a rather large mess and it requires that it's been there long enough for the green stench to come off of it, usually I find that making use of move objects on to duplicate large amounts of trash piles is the easiest way to get it.
I don't think so because the good thing about the buyable fire is you can save and exit the lot after placing it, but the fires in normal gameplay freeze out those options unless it's on a owned business lot I think.
I think that just happens with some Reshade presets. I've noticed this as well (if you mean in The Sims 4.) For me I think it's usually with the shadows on custom content objects, but it happens more with some presets more than others, so try some different ones and see if it changes things. If all the shadows aren't working though than I'm not sure since it only happens with some things for me.
Oh I missed that somehow and picked it because of the fire in the background and searing, but I can read a small amount of kanji/hanzi including that one lol since it's used in 花火. Kind of immersion breaking in a way to have a real world language in the game.
If the buyable fire can set them on fire that could work, but you can't save with normal fire sadly. I'm going to experiment with it more later to see if it's possible for Sims to catch on fire with it. I think it's supposed to be possible but it's kind of a buggy mod apparently that causes errors when interacting with the fire. Might be possible to tweak it too, but I don't know much about gameplay mods really besides minor edits I made to one mod before.

Someone recommended me a bunch of them on reddit recently, and they have been useful for CAS on a wider screen. I might make a video on that at a later date. It will probably be at least two videos from now though since I've been struggling to get something to work for my latest video so it's taking longer.
Basically a bunch of Sims in this corrupted neighbourhood act like pets instead of Human Sims because their data got messed up, so they're kind of weird hybrids.
