Setting Up Base with xB! - HermitCraft Vault Hunters - E02

After Decked Out and now Vault Hunters, I've realised... I just really love watching Hyno run dungeons.

When u find a spawner with no chest, it's probably a dig pov need to dig all ores even dig in vault stone to find some ores that are hidden behind it.

I don't remember what was told on stream, but some of the "junk" from the chests can be turned into decorative blocks. usually you gotta craft it in a 2x2, and then you can stonecutter them for decorations, some can be combined, like ornate + velvet bricks, to create even more types of decorative blocks, and they can all be later melted down in the soul diffuser for more soul shards!

I really like the overlay comments. Crazy how much there is to learn, but how quickly you are picking it up.

Random tips: POAs with no chest have vault ores like Larimar and Beniotite. You mine the vault stone to reveal them. The wood chunks can be combined 2x2 to make a wood block. Same with other items found in the different chests. The vaults are built like a diamond. 4 rooms in each direction max with rooms filling in the space. It's so fun seeing Hermits Vaulting! Good luck and have fun.

VH does have something similar to WAILA, it's called Jade. If you haven't rebound the key try pressing numpad 1 to enable, or numpad 0 to access the config. It can be a little annoying in vaults with the default placement due to all the info that some vaults share (e.g. scavs) so might need to tweak the position and size.

So fun to see you guys struggle to figure everything out xD here's some quick tips to help y'all out ;) 1. Follow the questbook! Lots of progression tips in there that'll help you on your way. 2. Always bring 1 or 2 stacks of building blocks with you to mark your path and get to hard to reach POI's. My advice would be to always build some kind of mark when you enter a new room, to remember where you came from 3. Yes, you do want to loot every room. Omega rooms are very rare so it's not worth the time to look for them. 4. Easiest imo is to just go in a straight line from your portal until you reach a dead end, and then go one room left or right and walk back afte that. 5. Probably the first knowledge you're gonna want to unlock is the vault compass. Hope it helps and I'm waiting for the next episode, guys!

Im loving the vault hunter episodes, its always fun to see a new player play the modpack and learn the ropes

idk if it is just me, but missing out on you crafting that new tool at the end kinda takes some fun away as a viewer! the whole experience of vault hunters is to upgrade and explore yada yada. Making yourself a new modded tool and placing the affinity things on them is exciting, especially since you stated that it was amazing in the vault you ran on stream....

I’m so excited to see more of how you and xb and all the other hermits play vault hunters! You were asking about applied energistics and using it in the vault - a number of items aren’t allowed in the vaults, and will say so in red test in the item’s description. A good example of this is boats - some of the alpha testers are speedrunners so boats got banned from the vaults so players have to find a different way down to the main level. I’m looking forward to your next video!

You're getting the hang of it pretty quickly! Most of the pack questions you currently have will be addressed in quests further down the line, so you can just keep going and enjoy the ride! I usually listen and glance at the screen while playing the YT videos... your little text notes on VH and decked out runs keep me on my toes, haha.

Use 1 skill point for “dash”, it is quite useful in vault and you can use elytra without rockets

Wooden Chunks, Gilded Ingots, Etc etc etc, all those common loot items that have a "soul value" of 1 are considered "vault junk". Most of the vault junk can be crafted into blocks using a 2x2 recipe, vault sweets require a 3x3 recipe. There are a few other items that aren't really useful except for as decorations and are mostly useless. While all of these items are "junk" they are still 100% worth picking up as much as you can, which will get much easier in time. As each of these items has a Soul Value of 1 that means they can be "scrapped" by a Vault Diffuser and turned into some a soul dust like item that is 1/9th of a Soul Shard. So 9 of those junk items can be crafted into a Soul Shard which is EXTREMELY useful to buy some really good gear or useful rare items from the Black Market. Also at the end of the day these can also all be used for building and decoration as they all have some very very nice textures and coloring that work so well with the vanilla pallette you're used to.

Love the series. Really hope you both would stick with it despite the learning curve. Genuinely this modpack is so much fun. Please look into pouches,backpacks. Those are early game items. You can have multiple in inventory with whitelist of items that can be set. It makes looting easier ❤️ thank you for the entertainment

26:09 The spawner was probably behind a wall. Those usually come with good loot (not guaranteed).

The small wholes that lead to nowhere are we’re chests can generate but they don’t always. When they don’t generate they are just pockets that lead to nothing.

These "spots" with spawners are so called POI (points of interest) and there are 2 kinds: chest and ore 🔥

The different types of chests have different loot tables. They are all useful for different things.

while vault hunters does have sophisticated mods, they worked with the dev of sophisticated backpacks to make "pouches". they're not as OP as the backpacks but they look great. you have to unlock them though

Good tip is to activate a mod called jade which will provide you with an overlay that tells you what block you're looking at.

Grave/tilde is what I use for Vein Miner... I unbound Q as throw held item and rebound it to Y. Then I made Heal bound to Q cuz it felt really familiar amd comfortable after years of playing Diablo 3. Finally for the basic 3 important binds, Sort Container Inventory... i have it bound to F personally but I have heard recently that a lot of people bind it to middle mouse button which I might give a try myself.

Do yourself a favor and keybind sort inventory to like caps lock or something you can hit with your pinky finger. It will save you the need to click it in the GUI. Saves a headache as well.

Hypno over here using big brain plays grabbing all that honey/comb blocks cuz "it's it's pain to make"... I really wish my buddy and I had thought of that, but noooo we had to manually farm it out. Luckily Animal Pens do work with bees... ish... it still takes far too long and is a pain... grabbing it off the walls of a semi common vault theme, BIG BRAIN moves!!!

So in my VH world my base was built in one of those castles as well and where your storage is is where I setup my first drawer system

It opened up my eyes I saw the sign.

I'll never understand ruining a build and the vibe for storage space when you can simply dig into the ground like 4 blocks or so and make a basement space to store everything while keeping the build entirely intact lol..

VH is my first modded and I just was able to unlock Applied Energistics but realised I know nothing about it! lol No tuts in-game as well 😥 I am looking forward to learning from you about it in this series hopefully! I picked it cause I set my base beside a meteor and it looks like the materials are for AE. Anyway, I am enjoying this series!
