4:00 you didn't need to dye the glass Impulse! The recipe was just cycling through different kinds of glass to show that any kind can be used :D

For the vault gear, you need to check not only the base stats, but also the extra ones. For example, your axe has a LOT of extra damage, and one of your pieces of gear has two extra armour points, so it ended up being better than the ‘upgrade’. Just something to watch out for, because they do stack :D

Here's a tip (Opinionated hahahaha) Put priorities on your passives, Str haste and speed. Those thing are permanent and you can abuse the str early on as you can 1 hit almost everything with a good weapon. Haste is a good choice for going around and mining stuff as you can do it faster with it. speed is speed, you can greed more with it hahahahaha. As for the active skill: Heal - lvl 4 Dash - lvl 4 Javelin - Lvl 2 and you can play around with the skills (Oh, you can swap the javelin with Fireball if you want to use a wand) as for the expertise Max the Fortune 1st. It's great for collecting ores and gems then you can go for the bounty hunter for fast exp

Don't forget, that the javelin deals damage in proportion to the item you are holding while using the ability. So hold an axe or sword while you use it.

I just downloaded the modpack and oh my goodness does it suck you in. I wound up playing for 4 hours without even knowing. Can’t wait to learn alongside you Impulse!

Any glass would have worked to make the jar. While using JEI if you're at a crafting table you can click the little + by the recipe and it'll place it in the grid. You cannot remove animals from jars. Press 1 on the number pad to turn on Jade which will show what block/entity you're looking at on the top of the screen. Though it will cover objectives while you're in a vault. Right clicking crops with a hoe will harvest in a 3x3 area. Diamond hoes harvest in a 5x5 area.

Such an interesting series! I love seeing the hermits switch up their series lately! We are being SPOILED lol 😆

also! animal pen sheep farm great for emeralds early with shepherds! roundabout 200 sheep in the pen, when sheared will give around 5 stacks of wool (estimate, top of my head, and there are diminishing returns after that). 2 shepherds, and 3 pens of sheep will keep you in emeralds and vanilla repairs (mending xp) until you don't need them anymore. if you get easy villagers researched later (1 block villager farms), you can cure and use the same shepherds for emerald gain in there

Finally.. a trickle from the drought of VH content.

Some random tips: right clicking the search bar of JEI while there is text will clear it, also pressing ‘a’ over an item will bookmark it. Anything with the red damage text scales with whatever you are holding, so make sure to hold your weapon when you cast javelin. You can set filters for your pouches so they don’t pick up random blocks you don’t want. The vault compass can be unlocked with one knowledge star and it is super helpful. I find it more efficient to rely on it instead of blocks and/or torches. It is a great idea for a first unlock. Navigating vaults can be daunting at first and blocks are reliable so saving up to invest in double pouches (maybe even stack upgrades) is also a good idea, bigger pouches means it’s easier to get more loot. You mentioned this in the video already, but unlocking storage mods is also super important. I feel like there’s so much I can say but I want to see what you discover/come up with on your own! Super excited for this series!

Impulse you're doing AMAZING! Considering how overwhelming it must be for someone who has never played modded and/or followed the series, you are really killing it :)

So great seeing Hermits joining Iskall in his modpack. I love the server collabs normally, like the Life series, but watching Vanilla experts learning whole new ways to play is a completely different experience for the viewers. Thank you for taking part in this diversion!

This is absolutely fantastic content! Thank you for doing this, would love to see you and Skizz duo this one day - there is a sky vault version. Please never do hardcore though as it sucks knowing you can’t finish it

imo, this is a great modpack to be introduced to mods in, my husband and i only had played terrafirmacraft in the way back, and this scratched many itches! we like to skip the first room in a vault so we have something to loot if we are back there with time to spare. when you get into different vault objectives (monoliths, etc), remember you can always walk out if you can't finish (especially come scavenger hunt objs), or you might just go into a vault to target resources. keep an eye out for oddball resources while you're in there also. so much fun watching you all play!

i love watching all the hermits playing vault hunters after watching iskall basically be a pro at this, its great seeing people be normal at the game. impy ur just like one of us

i don't know how others but i would honestly prefer 40 minutes episodes of vault hunters, for example 20 min "normal episode" and 20 min running a vault

Inventory Management Tip: with your first knowledge point, unlock Simple Storage, which allows you to craft a network of cables that will pull your entire inventory from a hidden room of chests (expandable) to a single block point that is searchable and accesses all your items at once. A must for the plethora of things you have to manage in VH.

If you wanna avoid too much poison with the slimes, dont kill the smallest form since like vanilla they are harmless to you until you kill them. Also do remember to look at all your sub stats on any gear/weapons you identify. Using H to check your character info you can easily see what gear does what such as how much attack power, defense, etc. Also dont forget to enchant your vault gear to increase the life on them! They dont get anything like Mending but it is still a good idea to enchant for things like feather fall and aqua affinity. Javelin also works off your held weapon so more dmg on a weapon more dmg on the javelin. For research you need knowledge essense, that makes shards which will in turn make stars. You do also need vault ores like larimar and beniatite which is great to focus one if you can because it is a crucial item for most of Vault Hunters. Overall youre doing great so far for your first modded, VH is definitely a lot to take in so gl 🎉🎉

With the crops, if you just right click the crops it will pick what is ready to harvest and automagically plant for the next harvest. It's witchcraft. And I love it.

for storage the best combination is drawers + refind storage/ applied energistic (AE) , but AE is more expensive (espically early game) so maybe worth investing in later

JEI Tip, Pressing on any item will give the "uses" of the item you have selected (ie, the vault meat you tried to cook needs to be crafted before becoming actual food so clicking on it will give the recipe's it can be used in) :D enjoying watching you play modded finally impulse!

Impulse, the JEI recipes cycle through all the possibilities. When it does so, the common version usually works as well. So when you crafted the animal jars, the glass didn't have to be dyed yellow. Any kind of glass would have worked!

Teensy bit of advice :) The tiny slimes don't do any damage until you kill them and they spawn a poison cloud. So I just ignore the smallest ones unless I need the soul shards.

ive played vault hunters a few times in the past, but decided to boot up another world when i saw that hermitcraft was playing. i died during my first three vaults haha. before you get all your utility abilities it can be pretty difficult, so it's part of the gameplay experience, like a right of passage

Greed is good. The (dylans) people love to watch you earning items from quests and looting chests in vaults. Would love to see more of that content in the vids. Hey Impulse. Big fan of your work, and I'm glad you are playing Vault Hunters. I just had a tip which might have already been mentioned, but the smallest versions of slimes (those have been the most frequent slimes for me) cannot hurt you in the vault. So you can safely ignore them and that way you get away with not having so many poison clouds.

You can craft an elytra btw! And you can use dash instead of rockets

Watching iskall is fun because he knows everything, but watching you figure this out as you go is a lot of fun too! You're doing great, Impulse!

btw, the javelin skill uses the attack damage of the weapon you have in your main hand when using it, so it's always better to use it when you have your axe out, since it does 16.5 damage.

9:00 I watched your Livestream video as well and you were looking for emeralds for a while. Might be a good tip to know --- Mystery boxes from the vault give emeralds and diamonds. You have 2 Mystery boxes in 2 separate chests haha 😊 it's the one that looks like a gold square with a question mark (like from Super Mario) Loving this series Impulse! Have fun!

Javelin's damage is calculated off the attack damage of your selected inventory slot, so make sure to hold your weapon when shooting your javelin. I like to use the same keybind as the slot I use for my main weapon

Good tip with JEI, you hover over the item and hit A on your keyboard to pin that item on the left side so you don't have to look it up again and do the same to get rid of it.

You can always resume this series on your second channel, remember nobody is forcing you to upload on your main channel and you don't have to end the series. Second channel aren't only for live uncut twitch thing, they can also be for experimentation and long side series

When it’s changing items in a recipe like the jar, it says under what you need, like it said “accepts any Minecraft:glass” so you could just use any glass

Hi impulse! When you’re checking your gear you can hold shift and it will compare it with your current one! Also, some abilities are based on a stat called ability power, while others are based on your attack, Javelin is based on your attack (which you can see in it’s description) which means if you’re holding your weapon it will do a lot more damage when you use it. There is a very cheap item called target dummy which you can attack and try different things on!

That is a nice first magnet. Almost 5% copiously from the start will be a great help.

best tip i can give is to start heading back when you hit 5 minutes, thats enough time to just purely walk back and if you arent far from the first room you stil have 2 to 3 minutes of looting, also if you have a sand themed vault collect the sand in the first room before starting the timer, you get around 5 stacks of sand, both regular and red

From all the newbie POVs, I think I liked this one the most.

So, I highly suggest a collab with Iskal on building the “best storage system in the game” together. Iskal is highly skilled at making really, really epic storage systems that result in near creative-menu-like access to almost his entire collection, regardless of physical location I’ve been watching VH since season 1 stream 1. He has dedicated entire episodes / significant stream time to cool storage setups in every season of every series and legitimately appears to enjoy it a lot. 😊

For storage if you want a super early storage solution go for simple storage it costs only one knowledge star and you can connect all classic minecraft chests with cables from the mod and view them all with link cables. For the mod you only need a Storage inventory and a Storage Network Root (just place them next to each other). It is quiite a begginer friendly mod as modded goes. The recepies are really cheap too. So for early game storage managment it is really a great choice. It helps you with viewing what is in all connected chests. So in the beggining like pre lvl 40-45 it is a great storage mod. After that you can go for Refined Storage with a combination with Drawers and Collosal chests.

Vaults are really good source for a lot of normally hard to get items. Book/bookcases, Anvils or work stations. Even glass/wool/wood can be found in some rooms... So I wouldn't worry about making any farms. The only items that is a bit hard to get at first is emeralds, but a trading hall isn't to hard since you can pick villagers. Also a lot of the modded blocks, like fluid pipes and tanks or mekanic plates/blocks, etc... are in the vaults as well.

Vault hunters is definitely great for streaming. So fun to play. It's fairly hard to make videos for from what I've seen. If people don't know what it is, it's really hard to explain to others until you just play it yourself. But once you start, it's hard to stop.

Watching you roll through the early stages of Vault Hunters makes me want to open the pack up again (server I was on went quiet); it's always cool seeing the new system click in someone's brain. Can't wait til you start getting those mods open - not sure the world is ready for Impulse with Create!

Where are all the famous Impulse farms. The other Hermits need you. Totems for vault dolls, fish farm for alter, mob farm for gunpowder. There are easy modded ways to do them but early game the good old impulse vanilla farms get it done. The hero we need.

14:40 it dose 16.5 dmg since it has the extra +5 attack damage, you can always check your stats screen to compare equipment aswell if its no obvious which one dose more

It hardly matters if you fail this early; that merely teaches you how to improve! Your chat guided you well, but here's an additional tip that may have been slightly glossed over on that first toe-dip you did with everyone together: the vault crystals will always take farmable, and mineable materials from the vanilla game. As long as you build up auto-harvestable crops, peaceful mobs like with the cows in that one-block pen, and eventually work your way up to the hostile mob farms, you'll always have the crystal resources to try again. Don't get caught out with a total lack of the Rabbit Foot item for instance; you'll want a bunny pen sooner than not just in case. The best starting storage to accommodate these is the Drawers. 😉

Pain. The small slimes are friends. (They can't hurt you unless you hurt them.) Pain. The boots from your third vault are a downgrade. The one you had equipped had +1 Armor, +1.5 Ability Power(healing and other skills) and the max +8% Item Rarirty (over the new ones lowest +3 Item Quantity.) The new ones had less durability, slightly higher potential(which wouldn't matter atm), and 6% knockback resistance. Not so painful is that chestplate. Advice against pain, the icons below some abilities are specialties. Read through them as they can alter your skills. But you can only pick one. There is stuff you can use to undo the choice, but still.

Love seeing you get the hang of the vaults!

Using JEI you can save recipes by hovering over the item you want to save the recipe for and pressing "A" and it will appear on the left side of the inventory/crafting screen

Another thing is that you don't need to kill the littlest slimes, they actually can't damage you, so there's no point in killing them, because if you do, you run the risk of getting poisoned, so since they can't actually hurt you, no point in it.

15:33 the reason your javelin here didnt do much damage is because its damage is based on the attack damage of whatever weapon youre holding in your mainhand, which was at the time a vault crystal (not a very good weapon)

The effect cloud from the slime can be countered by being above them as it usually wont climb blocks and can even be removed by placing blocks level with the cloud to move past

If you use the vanilla jump crit with vault weapons that have on hit effects like healing cloud, cleave, slowness cloud, ect then they wont activate. Iskall talked about that in one of his streams so just be aware of that.

The cow in the pen will get bigger the more you breed it with no upper limit on the size. And you can automate wheat farming and the feeding after unlocking some mods. Use this information responsibly. (this goes for all animals in jars, so it might be funnier with a chicken)

It so rare to see a Minecraft youtuber who genuinely doesn't know how to play modded and im here for it.

18:33 1) Axe - Correct choice 2) Helmet - Correct if you’re going for a magic build for the increased ability power. But you went down an armour point so I personally wouldn’t have switched out. 3) Chestplate - Again debateable since you lose 3 armour points. But the extra stuff the epic plate has makes it worth it based on my build style. 4) Boots - Incorrect. You loose 1 armour point, 1.5 ability power and 8% item rarity. Not worth the change at all. Be careful to read the prefixes and suffixes and implicits in full. Or you accidentally downgrade when you think you’re upgrading. Sidenote: The magnet you have currently has Copiously on it. Arguably the greatest modifier in Vault Hunters. Do not switch that out for a while.

Enchanting tables, books and bookshelves, anvils, lecterns, chromatic iron, and sometimes even regular vanilla diamonds can all be found in abundance inside the vaults. A quick shortcut to low level progress is to keep your eyes peeled inside the vaults and just yoink stuff. Village rooms are the best source, but honestly they're not rare in common Points of Interest.

Baby slimes in the vault are friendly! Best not to kill them so you don’t have to deal with their poison clouds

Coins can be stacked on the floor so they don't take up invintory space

You can get strength 4 for 4 skill points, level 3 dash is also pretty nice

for starting off you should use drawers for storage to have neat storage

For inventory management, a lot of those tool tables in VH have slots for your coins and other crafting materials, and they can stack pretty high. Please use those slots to clear out items from your chests and inventory!

Tip: don’t kill the tiny slimes, they don’t damage you but if you kill them they still give off a poison cloud like the big ones

You should try out Jade. It is the mod that shows what you are looking at. Definitely a must have for new to modded players. Default key bind for Jade settings is numpad 0. It has bee fun watching all of the vanilla hermits playing modded for the first time.

Javelin does damage based on the weapon youre holding, which is why it did almost nothing to the skeleton since you were holding the vault crystal

Add looting to your sword when culling the herds in a a jar.

Vault diamonds are super valuable, so you definitely want to keep them!

As you’re getting into building there is an item called the Trowel that is simple to make and it places a block from any blocks in your inventory allowing you to pick a few blocks to make a nice building pallet and place them randomly without switching item positions

if you hit "a" while your mouse is hovered over an item in JEI then it will bookmark it for you and stay on the left side of that screen. Hitting "a" again will remove it from the bookmarks. Also right clicking an item in JEI will show you recipes that item is in and hitting "u" while your mouse is hovering it will also show you the item's uses.

If you are confused to what things you're looking at you can enable JADE with Tooltip! It shows you what block/entity your looking at. Try it out, I believe the default button is G and then you can enable tooltip and move the box around with the anchor settings so that you dont have it in the top center. I usually put my box just underneath the minimap coordinates. Don't tell Iskall tho, he hates it ;)

By the way you can just use normal glass panes for those jars if the items in the recipe changes it’s usually because there are a lot of color and texture variations so just assume you can use the simplest form of that item so for example if it is like hexagon green stained glass you can probably glass

The different types of gear, apart from the top few rows of stats (the implicits) also have the prefixes and suffixes that count to the total. That axe you have, for example, doesn't just do 11.5 damage, but has a +5 for 16.5 total. At the end you also swapped boots, eventhough the old boots had 3+2 for 5 armor instead of the 4 on the new boots, + the old set also had some other modifiers that were better, so maybe consider swapping back.
