I hope you enjoy this May Notebook challenge and the setup of my B5 Stalogy. Just a reminder to dust off any notebooks you've been saving up for a special occasion and just USE THEM! It doesn't have to be perfect. Just enjoy them and let them be fun tools for growth. How many notebooks are you currently using?
I have been feeling lost for the last few weeks and watching this reminded me that in the chaos of life emergency and big changes I kind of ignored all my notebooks. Thank you for sharing so much inspiration and for reminding me that I need to start using my notebooks again.
I always love watching you set up notebooks and your little planner binders. Thanks for the chance to win the giveaway. I love using all my notebooks and this is a great reminder to use the ones I've bought.
Love the notebook challenge! I checked my KU and realized I'd already checked out Ruby Roe's book after a twitter recommendation. I didn't know Roe was Sascha Black though. I've just moved so my notebook collection is in multiple boxes/bins/piles at the moment. I'm trying to "just pick one" rather than searching through the boxes for the "right" one.
This Notebook challenge was very stress-relieving for me. It was something about your voice. Anways, I haven't been keeping up with any notebboks in a while but this video has definitely given me a boost of motivation to get back into one of them. I think I'll just start with freeform journaling. As always, I love your videos❤
I appreciate the encouragement to and suggestions for dipping into our backlogged and partially used journals. It's true that anything we want to use them for is special because it will further our goals by focusing our thoughts. I always enjoy seeing what you're up to with your journals. Thank you!
I'm swapping desks (from a large desk to a standing one) and, digging out the large desk to get it out of the house, I uncovered a stash of notebooks I didn't know I had! It was a delightful discovery, but oh wow, do I need to start using more of these books more regularly. :D
Hi Sarra! I am obsessed. You're such an inspiration with notebook setups. I started learning how to create die cuts and stickers thanks to you. As well as become a better author, not only as a writer but an individual. Thank you for helping me to change my life and my outlook.
This video was so fun! I have watched your notebook challenge videos for ages and I love how you make setting up notebooks an art form! I recently set up my very first traveler's notebook and had a lot of fun watching back a ton of these videos for inspiration.
I love how you’re always encouraging us to think of new ways to use new notebooks and start over if we need to! I have so many note books that are a combo of all the things 😂
It was such a joy to watch this and see you getting into your books. Every time you post a notebook challenge I get excited to reunite with paper. Thank you for everything you do for us!
I always love these videos, they spark ideas! I would like to see videos of where you have the planners and journals in your home and how you use each one in real life (ie-if mine are on a shelf, they stay there and if they are on the coffee table they get buried. When I find a moment to write, I can’t find one 😂)Thanks Sarra!
I bought a websters pages composition cover and i love them. Composition notebooks are cheap so i feel less anxiety using them and having them be perfect. And they look cute because of the notebook. Highly recommend! ❤
Love your notebook challenge videos! Something about your invitation or permission to use the things we love inspires and motivates me like nothing else does! Thank you! ❤
I know you already have a series on editing your novel but I was wondering if you were going to do maybe like a walk through or overview of your process with The Disappearance of Vanessa Shaw? Maybe an updated version? Has your editing process changed at all? Just curious and I think it would be pretty neat to go through that process with you :)
Yes that's such a good idea! My process for several things has shifted a bit so I'm thinking of a full updated series on how I go from idea to publishing.
I love this so much! I "reboot" notebooks all the time. All the time. I swap out systems and notebooks at least once a quarter, and the process of setting something up is almost more important, sometimes, than the finished result. It's meditative, and paper is such a lovely medium.
I have the same Kiki Delivery Service notebook. It's also sitting on my nightstand because I haven't decided on what to put inside of it. Hopefully we can find something fun for them.
I have so many notebooks and planners. Always start them and never finish. I love your encouragement to just use them. How do you find the time to be so organized? I know easy once you start…it’s the starting and focus that are hard for me.
Very interesting. Mostly we spend too less time on daydreaming and realining yourself to your ideal life. The problem is, the life takes you in a direction, without asking you if it is your dreamlife. Question: where you've bought or what is the brand of the black B6 notebooks cover? I like it. Gr.
Earlier today, I moved my current set of TN inserts into a different cover for a bit of a refresh (and to bring that particular cover out of retirement!). The four inserts I'm using are a smaller (~A6) sized grid notebook that I'm slowly turning into a hand-drawn monthly planner; a horizontal weekly with the week on the left and a notes page on the right; another, bigger grid notebook that's been my bullet journal; and a writing journal that's just a teeny bit bigger than the rest of them. All of them fit nicely into this A5 snap cover I bought at Walmart several years ago (I think around the time the Notebook Challenge started!) Before that, I was carrying the monthly, weekly, and bujo in a smaller cover that didn't fit them as well. I decided I want a writing journal in my planner so I can jot down ideas or journal about my progress without having to dig out a separate notebook. I've been playing with notebooks and planners all day today, so this video came at the perfect time! 😁💖 Thank you for making these videos and sharing your ideas. They really help a lot. And speaking of what types of videos I want to see: all of the above! Writing, planning, vlogs--any kind of video you make, I will watch! 💖💖💖💖
I love watching your notebook challenge videos because it relieves the tension/anxiety I have around my half-filled and unused notebooks/planners, and inspires me to find new ways to use them!
I saw a washi sticker tape roll on temu which had gorgeous dragonflies on it and I immediately thought of you ! Your notebook challenge videos give me a lot of ideas to use my journal . I personally prefer to have one planner and one journal but this year I think I want to try separating my journaling up a bit
I love these videos. They make me so happy. I need to set aside time to journal. I always get on a roll then something happens and I stop again 😢. I love A&O notebooks. I love that nothing bleeds through.
Finally getting to sit and watch this! I love the idea of a notebook you can come back to when the time is right. I have one that was a planner from 2020, undated but says 2020 on the cover, and I love the layout so I keep trying to find ways to come back into it. And I find that sometimes the best use for precious notebooks I've been saving is to give them away! I get all tied up in feelings if I try to use the really old ones, but it makes me happy to send them to others instead.
I've never used a notebook like this to plot out or keep track of anything for a book... but I've gotten so many ideas from you and I'm excited to try it!
I've never used an Archer and Olive. I keep thinking I should get one. The pink binder you showed looks really interesting. Do you think the pages from a coiled Erin Condren would work in it. I really like the idea of being able to add pages without having to uncoil and recoil everything.
It seems the universe is working in both of our lives with resetting our view of not only writing but life’s journey. Just today, I looked at my new traveler’s notebook and wondered what I could use it for- and eight minutes later your video appeared. Thank you for sharing this journey with all of us! I’d love to see more videos on notebook uses in a writer’s life.
Thank you for the reminder to get out my 'saved' notebooks. 😊 I have a couple I'm looking forward to using. And I'm always amazed at how much decoration you can fit into one notebook!
I love what you did with the B5 Stalogy! It looks completely different, and the purple cover-oh my gosh! Just wonderful! I bought two notebooks tonight, and I have no idea how I'll use them, but this definitely gives me some ideas!
For the book club - Could you consider doing live streams with contributors from the HB community? Like, a few guests to talk about the book with you. If you rotate the "facilitator" role to different guests, then you don't bear the full responsibility for generating questions/content.
Oh I love the Kokuyo Campus notebooks and paper!! I find that I take sheets out, write on them, then stick them back in the binder. I also recommend the student day planners if you want a great vertical planner.
I am always so excited to see these videos from you! This is how I originally found you and then became a fan of all things SC! You are an incredible person and so relatable and real.
I love that you do these notebook challenges! You keep me going and encourage me to want to do more. thank you! And that yellow notebook with the scooter - so cute!
I Love your videos so much. I personally mainly use digital notebooks just for convenience's sake. I actually just recently got my first Erin Condren planner, but I got it from Target. As for how many I am using, I would say about 6. Three of them are specifically for three separate story ideas. LOVE you!
I recommend the SIgno for writing on black paper. Better consistency. You could also use your black notebook as a canvas. Write your notes on journaling cards and insert them, either by pasting them in or using photo corners to keep them in place. Also, a beautiful dragonfly vellum would fit perfectly in that black notebook as a tip in. Continuing capture options. I use Roam Research to capture my random ideas. I also use it as my second brain. There's a great interview with Rider Carrol on how he uses Roam Research and how he uses it to capture Kindle notes (if you also do edits that way).
Thanks, Sarra! I am always wanting to see planner setups, planner reviews, and how you’re using all of them. The notebook challenge is always a pleasure to watch. Thanks for creating these videos!
Every time I watch these notebook challenge videos I get so excited about my notebooks. I haven't been using one lately, but I really want to get back into it. I love how you refer to it as a hobby because that's what it feels like, and it does make me happy. I've been using notebooks from Michaels for a reading log and for a very loose monthly planner. I like the notebooks, but it's more fun to have variety, so I may throw another one in. Also I'm a Sacha fan, and I loved her Anatomy of a Bestseller.
Hello from India 🇮🇳, i really love watching ur blogs sply notebook challenge. I just love decorating the planner its gv me immense happiness. They looks so pretty n i enjoy my writing journey. Journaling is my happiness, stress buster n joy.
I will happily gobble up all the content you release! I particularly love the writing videos though. I find your videos soooo inspiring. I'm not a colorful person, I like all my clothes, accessories, office supplies to be pretty neutral colors. But that Stalogy setup is speaking to me! So excited for the craft writer's book club, and I would vote for it either to be in zoom or a live format. :)
I have 8 journals currently that I use as notebooks. I got them all from Melissa Power's Amazon shop. Just incase anybody is interested in what in the world I use 8 journals for here's the list: - 2 minute micro sprint plan/5 minute journaling (With Tracy The Revised Writer) - Plotting and Chracter Work (My Writers Notebook) - Other random Story Ideas while I am working - Word Count Tracker - Plot Changes and notes for editing - Cup O Positivity (During Jenna's sprints Friday and Saturdays) - Self Care Prompts (During Jodee Dean Daniels, and Melissa's Sunday sprints) - Intrusive thoughts while I am working (A technique I got from Melissa's last workshop on unlearning negative thoughts)
The Kokuyo Campus notebook!!! I want one. Sacha's book sounds amazing. I'm going to need to get a copy. Thanks for another inspiring notebook challenge video!
I got an Erin Condren notebook for my Jewish studies with my Rabbinical staff during the week. I just finished Demons Forever. I loved it! I just ordered books 7&8 of the Shadow Demons Saga. I can't wait to read them!
I use the monthly spread on my bujo to put a checkmark for each sprint i do for the day. I track my time instead of my words, because I'm trying to stay away from too much toxic productivity. One hour of work is the same effort regardless of how many words i end up with.
I love how the B5 ser up turned out. I'm with you on re-purposing notebooks. I have an old ducking stalogy which I started my 12 month life journey in last April and never continued in and I've been waiting until I was in a better place mentally and surgery free before I picked it back up. Thankfully I'm st that point now :) plus I am going back to uni in Sept to finish my masters degree :)
