I have reset my Essentials A19 Bulb multiple times and my bulb still is not recognized by App or HomeKit. I have as instructed reached out to support and have not received any assistance beyond instructions to reset the bulb. I requested that they send me a new bulb to exchange for the defective unit and they never reply. I have 10 other Essentials that work fine now I think I should return all of my Nanoleaf bulbs.

Im enjoining the new Essentials Bulb. Easy to setup and works great with my Apple Home Pod using thread technology. I just ordered two more bulbs to add to my home.

For anyone looking to buy these to use with their Echo/Alexa devices; These bulbs and strips are NOT compatible with Alexa without a Mesh boarder router. Currently the only 2 devices that can act as a boarder router are the Apple TV 4K 2021 and onwards and the Apple Homepod. I learned this the hard way because Nanoleaf is so shady with their advertising and being honest with what devices they actually support. If you read the fine print on the Nanoleaf Alexa skill, it clearly states it's ONLY compatible with shapes, canvas etc. This means all the lighting in my house including my canvas, is controlled my Alexa while my 2 essentials bulbs in my bedroom can only be controlled through Siri/Homekit on my Macbook and iPhone. Nanoleaf should be more clear with what devices they can support as they themselves don't directly state what devices their products support and have been claiming they'll enable support for Alexa on their essentials line for a couple years now. These bulbs and strips primarily use Bluetooth even though they are thread enabled and should connect to my Echo devices just as easily as they can connect to my Macbook and iPhone.

I bought 4 of theses after checking (more than once) directly with Nanoleaf that they would work in conjunction with my light panels, canvas and shapes. I clarified that I meant they would work with rhythm scenes and told yes. They don’t, I felt a bit conned as when I queried this I was told they will eventually in an update. That’s a bit cheeky.

Loved the Nanoleaf bulbs until the most recent firmware update. Presently I'm in the "firmware loop", contacted support and they have been slow to respond and of little use ... referring me to their literature and videos.

I am doing a small testrun to find out, which lighting system I might pick to equip my complete home with, so I started with simple bulbs from different manufacturers to see, how comfortable the installation process and daily-basis use feel. For nanoleaf I picked two A19 Essential bulbs. First setting up via smartphone app was really smooth. But that's already it. It becomes unreachable shortly after the first connection. Getting the bulb to Factory-Reset (red flashing) works at least 50% of the times and I can reconnect after that. For another 5min of usage. The usage of Nanoleaf app regularly kills the phones WiFi connection aswell. I am not really convinced that I would be smart to fit more complex elements into my system, if the entry-level communication between an rather basic bulb and the own app already performs on this disappointing level :( RGB brightness is lackluster, white quality is pretty fine though and the packaging is nice. Will regularly check for information on updates and PlayStore reviews, but I remain sceptical. with best regards

I just bought essential lightbulb. I connected device on Nanoleaf app, and when I press + key to make a schedule on it, app keep says "You have to add device to make schedule." Should I reset the bulb?

Nest device is necessary to access all the features. Using your Pixel phone's assistant won't allow you to do very much.

Just received 2 bulbs and thery're paired with a HomePod mini - however when I say "turn lamps red" nothing happens - seems to work fine with any other colour and with the Nanoleaf app... not sure what the issue is.

Once you pair with HomeKit and the Apple HomePod mini with thread I am unable to get it to work with Google Home. We're a mixed house with Apple Homekit and Google Home devices from Apple HomePod minis to Google Nest Hub Max.

@@thenanoleaf Hi are you sure it's supposed to work? I did some digging and it seems that essentials lineup does not support scenes? It was not very clear in the app but the scenes playlist states very clearly the a19 is not supported..

They work over wifi, but you have to be on the same wifi network as your Bulb in order to control it. So if you aren't home, you would not be able to control the Bulb.

Bruhh how do I take them off of thread, I bought them before you switched to thread and ever since you switched I’ve struggled to get google home to work with them, they are always offline even tho they work on Apple home kit and the Nanoleaf app

I've tried to pair it with my Google Account and Assistant (I'v got Google Assistant SoundBar at home) but it does not work on my iPhone, only with Siri (but I don't have HomePod and don't want to) and not with Google...and the support cannot give me a solution...thanks...

Ive been trying to get the bulbs to connect and stay connected for over a week support send you the same video on how to add and reset a bulb that kool but i didnt think i had to factory reset a bulb and re add it every single day for it to work for maybe an hour! these things arent cheap and when they say get a thread border router device and you do and it still doesnt work i feel like i just got conned into buying their products Globe electric cheap works and never had issues the passed 2 years!

why does my 2nd homepod (which is a seperat thread network) not appear in nanoleaf? I can‘t connect lightbulbs to my 2nd thred network. only bluetooth. trying to fix this since 1month + 😭

Just got a new bulb that I'm going to get delivered tomorrow to pair with my light strip and shapes! Can't wait to further extend my immersive lighting experience, when I get six more next week, if this one works out well! Oh, and for those of you looking at the note about the thread border router, Please note that since this video was uploaded, around the middle of last year there came an update to the Nanoleaf Shapes Controller that enabled it to become a Thread Border Router itself! So, that's very awesome - my light strip has been recognized by the Thread Network as shown in the Nanoleaf mobile app, and works fully with my Alexa device and the desktop app, allowing for even more immersive content through my computer! It will work with any router that is running on 2.4GHz! If you are looking to use your Essentials Bulbs through Thread, you will need a Border Router. Without it, you'll only be able to connect your Bulbs through Bluetooth, which isn't as reliable. This article has a list of compatible Border Routers that you can use! The real question is what happens when you have a new AppleTV 4k on an Eero 6 with an Alphabet's Google's Nest Home Hub Mini 2. With thread on all these hubs, ahem, border routers, will the bulbs talk to Alexa, Google, and Siri? My Hue, Ikea, and Sengled zigbee bulbs already talk to all three.

Why do you only have multi-buy offers for a pack 3 A60/E27 bulbs whilst the A60/B22 are only ever sold singularly? It seems rather disingenuous, especially in the knowledge that most people would have bayonet fixtures, any plans to make your pricing fairer?

Frustratingly lackluster connection through wifi and is impossible to use with Android devices with connectivity issues. Will be returning, UI is unhelpful at best

This doesn't require A smart speaker of any kind, only your phone, I was able to get mine to work with the nanoleaf app with just my phone.

i do not understand how THREAD works! i have NANOLEAF SHAPES and GOOGLE HOME but not thread border router! i can add essentials to my app but it rarely connects and it is unusable! also it doesn't apper on my NANOLEAF DESKTOP APP!

Yeah I just bought two of these because they said they work with Alexa. Guess what, they don’t. There is an Alexa skill that they just added but it doesn’t work at all. I should’ve known by the one star rating it got, the skill that is. For only being an 800 lm bulb, though, you can tweak it to get some decent brightness and colors out of it, but it doesn’t hold a candle to a LIFX 1100 lm bulb. But they are cheaper. They work great with HomeKit, but I hate HomeKit and try to avoid using it as much as possible. Drives me nuts when these lights say they don’t need a hub, but then force you to use HomeKit. As others have stated, sometimes these bulbs work, other times they don’t. I’ve reached out to customer service multiple times and their only solution is to refer me to this video, even though they know I’ve tried this step before. These are the worst smart bulbs I own and with the lack of reliable tech support your making a big gamble on this product. It’s not unusual for the nanoleaf app to report the wrong on/off status either, so you may never know if the lights are really off. It’s dumb, but sometimes the only way to turn these off is to unplug the lamp.

Hey Brandon! We're so sorry about this 💚 Your frustration is justified 💯Not sure why they asked you to do another reset even though you already did one. We can see here on your ticket that they've already followed up with you on Saturday. Asking you to send the defective bulb to them before they send out a replacement to you. Here is what we'll do. We'll escalate your ticket immediately. This way, you can get new Bulbs without having to go through all the hassle of sending out your old ones. Hope this helps! Easily the worst product I have bought. Bulbs don’t get recognised by apple home app even though I have home pod mini setup. Bulbs and app is super glitchy. Half the time bulbs are in unreachable state until I restart the app multiple times. Unfortunately I ordered through apple and 14 day return period expired. Wouldn’t recommend.

Hello and sorry for the trouble. Were you able to check for the latest firmware, also the wifi frequency because we have reports of users router defaulting to 5ghz and Nanoleaf only works 2.4ghz. Also please check if you have the latest iOS update. let us know if that works for you..

I bought these and I couldn’t have been more disappointed. I have a google hub and an Apple TV 4K. My google home assistant never found these bulbs, the firmware for 2 of the 3 bulbs wouldn’t download. I bought Wiz bulbs to replace them and the wiz bulbs worked great. So it wasn’t anything to do with my system or network. Plus I spent 25 DAYS email the customer service and all they did was send me some RU-vid video links and never addressed the firmware issue. Terrible customer service experience. I asked for a refund even offered to send them the bulbs, but all the offered to do was replace the bulbs which I didn’t want bc they DID NOT work with my google home set up despite being advertised to do so. Such a bad customer service experience zero help or value added.

I am currently dealing with the same process i got 3 bulbs got them online for 4 hours and since than its been a constant game to get them connected either thru the nanoleaf app or google 10/10 dont recomment for android and google users. Customer support did the same sending me the same videos that dont even work after the first few steps i guess they ignoring me now HA oh if u go and buy the shapes the bulbs will connect and work flawlessly ha i got conned into that spend more for them to not work at all!

These bulbs don’t work as advertised. Thread seems not to work. I have it set up and it’s just as slow as the straight Bluetooth connection. Every time I open the Nanoleaf app it tries to tell me about the advantages of Thread, but not how to set it up properly. The settings tab indicates that I have a Thread network enabled and working but the bulb is painfully slow to respond. Waste of money

Nanoleaf is garbage with no customer support. 3 bulbs and none of them will connect to either the Nanoleaf app or HomeKit. I’m going to throw them way.
