Finally someone who uses Siri to control a bulb in a video. I couldn't figure out if you "had" to use an App but not Siri. I'm transitioning from the Homepod which isn't very "smart" so thank you for the demo :)

Yeah, I like the Nanoleaf bulbs because you can just directly use them in HomeKit with no extra app.

I love my HomePods spatial audio sound with Dolby Atmos. Not gonna give them up just yet 😊.

Thanks Guys, I had to reset my lights as they stopped working after an update, I couldn’t use them with HomePod for weeks, until I saw this video and saw the reset trick by turning the light of and on. It’s now working with Siri again, and not saying accessory not found anymore. Thumbs up 👍🏾

Thanks for the great video :) For these bulbs to work, do you need a smart light switch? If not, I’m order to turn the bulb on and off via Home app/HomePod, does the switch need to always be on? Thanks 😊

Check daily and order them even if the date is far out on delivery. That is how we found ours.

Thanks for the video. Mine are still slow despite the HomePod mini I have. They often show as unavailable and sometimes disconnect from the network completely. Will probably need a few software updates before they are reliable.

In my experience it’s actually the HomePod’s fault and not the lightbulbs. Unplug the HomePod and plug it back in. Just power cycle the lights for good measure.

Be sure to install the Eve app and check the devices in there to see if they are connected via Thread or Bluetooth. I do it in the video. How close are the bulbs to the HomePod mini?

Thank-you for your video. If anyone can assist, I have a few questions: 1) Should you (or do you need too) download and add them to the Nanoleaf APP FIRST, before adding them to HomeKit? 2) If added the globes to the HomeKit App, without them being in the Nanoleaf APP, can the firmware updates still be performed? (Or are firmware updates ONLY DONE in the Nanoleaf APP?) 3) Will they connect to a HomeKit network that does NOT have any Thread enable HomePod devices on the network? (Assuming you only have two HomePod 1's on the network) Many thanks

Do they automatically connect to your HomePod Mini when you connect them to your HomeKit? Or did you have to connect them in a different way? I’m new to smart house appliances and have always wanted to have Siri do everything haha so if you could give me a detailed explanation that would be great. Thank you.

Loved the Nanoleaf bulbs until the most recent firmware update. Presently I'm in the "firmware loop", contacted support and they have been slow to respond and of little use ... referring me to their literature and videos. Now they want a video of me doing a factory reset on each bulb and then they will consider(?) replacing the bulb(s) if I pay the shipping ($10.00 US) each. So if you have any ideas on how to get out of the "firmware loop" it would be greatly appreciated.

I’ve got 4 of them spread around the house. I’ve also got 2 HomePod mini’s that are supposed to improve how they work. I’m fed up of walking around in the dark. 80% to 90% of the time they are either unresponsive, updating or unavailable. Not got time for joining forums try to solve troubleshooting. I need a product that works out of the box and Hue seems to do the trick.

We now have two homepod minis and I added 3 more bulbs since this video. I'm very happy with these and plan to put more in a few more lamps.

The Eve app has a Thread section that shows you everything in your thread network. I don’t think the nanoleaf app has that.

I want to use them for my apartment, but I’m worried it’ll be using too much electricity. Do I have to keep my light switch on to turn them off from my phone, and does that mean I still get charged for keeping them on all night?

I asked HomeKitGeek and he said most smart LED bulbs consume less than a watt when turned 'off' but the switch is still turned on. Hope that helps.

Will these work with both Google and HomeKit? I use both ecosystems, mainly so I have one as a back up, but wasn’t sure if Nanoleaf would work with both simultaneously

I think so, but maybe not 100% right now. Nanoleaf Shapes will likely be needed or a firmware update from Nanoleaf for the bulb itself. IIt is configured to connect to an Apple Thread network atm. The nanoleaf shapes are getting a firmware update to be a border router soon, and I think that would allow you to add shapes to Google and then get access to all the nanoleaf stuff with thread. This is all just a long term guess, none of it has been officially announced yet

They actually act as a router and will pick a leader. Highly recommend these.

I bought these and I couldn’t have been more disappointed. I have a google hub and an Apple TV 4K. My google home assistant never found these bulbs, the firmware for 2 of the 3 bulbs wouldn’t download. I bought Wiz bulbs to replace them and the wiz bulbs worked great. So it wasn’t anything to do with my system or network. Plus I spent 25 DAYS email the customer service and all they did was send me some RU-vid video links and never addressed the firmware issue. Terrible customer service experience. I asked for a refund even offered to send them the bulbs, but all the offered to do was replace the bulbs which I didn’t want bc they DID NOT work with my google home set up despite being advertised to do so. Such a bad customer service experience zero help or value added.

Thanks for the video but I am about half deaf yet your intro music about blew me out of my chair. Why do you-tubers think obnoxiously loud music makes their videos better? It just means I have to turn the sound down and when you start yapping I have to turn it up.
