Setting your temperatures on the Worcester-Bosch Style combi boiler 

Yeah - low flow temp is absolute rubbish in this extreme cold weather. We upped ours from 65 to 68 and the house gets warm in about an hour. In our previous house we had an old fashioned boiler with numbered dials. We always had it on 4 at the start of Winter then upped it to 5 when it got really cold. It's trial and error really as every house is different.

Sounds like it's doing the pre heat function. I agree it's not easy... I know a few people that sit in the cold, because they don't know how to regulate the temperature...

Hi Matthew, could you expand on your observation? The water setting on the boiler shouldn't be set above 65°C for the central heating? Is that the return temperature then? I'm thinking that a difference of 11°C (min) suggests that the output would be 76°C. Have I got this right cos I've currently got that set at 75 rather than 65. I assumed I was setting the boiler output temp and not the return.

Hello. Is this why these boilers go to a maximum flow temp of 60 degrees? What if I want the flow water hotter, is that just not possible?

@@habkam I feel your pain mate! I've just had a Worcester Bosch Combi Greenstar 4000 boiler fitted and it looks as if My water bill will be skyrocketing due to the amount I have to run to waste because the dratted hot water NEVER gets hot. The fact that I've also had a thermostatic shower mixer fitted just adds to the frustration, wish I'd never bothered!!

It needs connecting to a controller where you can turn off the heating.

Combi boilers are on demand water heating, not used with a tank, so no need for a timer.

Should have an external controller/thermostat which you can switch between Schedule/Manual/Off - Manual will turn the heating off leaving the hot water on demand.

If you press the eco button while you setting up the numbers for water or heating

60 is the maximum for this boiler, I have the same one.

All combis waste gallons of water - slightly better if you switch eco mode off but still nothing like the old days of the hot water tank!

Do you have an old house? The boiler might be close to the bathroom but there could be a huge system of pipes the hot water goes through first

@@SKOMPAS no it's a 70s built small 2 bed bungalow, the pipe run is short.

Turn the hot tap on for one second and back off - this starts the boiler heating the water; if you're near the boiler you'll hear it continuing to run even though no water is flowing after the one-second burst. Wait about 20 seconds and then turn the hot tap back on. This doesn't get you hot water any faster, but saves both water and gas: you're not pouring so much water down the drain, and you're not wasting gas running extra cold/tepid water into the boiler while it's warming itself up to the set water temperature.

You probably have eco mode on. This doesn't preheat the water but heats on demand. It is slower yet results in lower gas usage - good for your wallet and the environment.

They vary, mine has a valve on the underside that you pull down then turn to pressurise the system, the instructions on my Worcester Bosch are on the inside of the door cover to the controls.

On my boiler, 65degrees is a preset for economy, but it's not warm enough in my house, so I've adjusted my boiler to read 70 degrees... But you can set it higher, if you need to.. Hope that helps!

Normally linked to radiator size, bigger rads - switched out all my singles for doubles - does not use more energy just gets the heat out more efficiently.

@@shardlake Thanks - will look to upsize some of our rads for sure (the room with the fancy vertical designer rad is the worst!)

@@shardlake Yeah, the previous owner of our house put in some vertical designer rads - form over function if you ask me. I'll get them switched over to some proper big uns.

@@MrAndy9572ac there was an electrical problem so I called the company and they sent an engineer out to fix it. It’s fine now. All you need to turn it on is the thermostat, if that doesn’t work, call the boiler company who installed it.

How do you turn the heating fully off?

Not if you want to waste water and get a high water and gas bill.

This is a combi boiler (on-demand hot water), so I understand that 'OFF', as referred to in the manual, actually means ECO mode (i.e. pre-heat mode not switched on). The user manual is pretty confusing, TBF!!
