This was an early 70's song. A lot of their early songs were mystical songs and in Freddie's fantasy land. Bunches of great songs came out of the early albums of Queen IMO. Thanks for your reaction and I love your channel. If you have not listened to "See What A fool I've Been" It is worth a listen.

This might have been Queen's first hit song. When he was a little boy he would make up stories about this imaginary place where they would go. This song is supposedly about that.

An expanded rendition, planned to be included on the album Queen II album, was publicly premiered when Queen was offered a sudden chance to appear on the BBC’s Top Of The Pops in February 1974, & was rushed to vinyl 2 days later on Feb. 23rd. It became their first chart entry after gaining airtime on BBC Radio 1, peaking at #10 on the UK Singles chart, which in turn persuaded Freddie to take up Queen as his full-time career. Thank God, right??

Hey Rigby... This song was the basis for the entire sci-fi/fantasy tales of the first two Queen albums in that the songs Freddie sang on these albums were written by him and based on the stories he related to his little sister growing up on the beaches of Zanzibar... the "Ogre Battle" of the "Fairy King", the "Black Queen" and the "Great King Rat" were all based on this song... BUT... if you really want to hear an amazing guitar riff, try listening to some of Brian's solo works: "Last Horizon", "Another World", "Bijou" (which was a Queen song), "Resurrection", be sure to watch the video of him doing finger-tapping like you've never seen before... OR... you could expand your reach and dip into a little of Roger's solo works... also amazing!! Roger would never shy away from being political or controversial like Freddie did, check out "Gangsters are Running This World" or "The Unblinking Eye"... His latest album came out last year (actually Oct. 2021) called "Outsider", it has several wonderful songs on it, check out "Journey's End", or some of his earlier work like "Tonight", "Beautiful Dreams". or for something a little humorous, try "I Am A Drummer in a Rock and Roll Band"... NEEDLESS TO SAY... keep rocking the Queen train... you will NEVER EVER regret it... blessings.

This isn't my favorite Queen song at all. It's not bad, I wouldn't skip it, but it's debately not great. At least not for me anyway. You really, really need to do White Queen. It 100% needs to be the live performance at the Odeon in Hammersmith. Their performance of that at the Rainbow is good, but the Odeon performance will break your brain.
