funfact : they premiered getting closer for the first time by performing it in MAMA! when they started performing everyone was confused like "wtf is happening" it was the 1st dark concept for svt... that era was crazy.

okay but saying "i can't get a breath" during the getting closer lyrics section is so crazy because the korean title "숨이 차" means "out of breath/breathless"!! the name fanchant for the song is so long (since it also goes backwards) that carats are quite literally running out of breath at the end of it to fit with the theme of being breathless 😭😭

Sorry for all the comments lol, I just have strong feelings about Getting Closer. Dude. I cannot even articulate the way Caratland blew up when they dropped it. We had gotten very little of DarkTeen (Dark Seventeen) by that point so I and many others had our worlds absolutely ROCKED by this song 💀 You just had to be there. It was INSANE.

Fun fact, in Home's fanchant they told Carats to sing the chant in the first chorus in a high voice because it's Woozi's part and the chant in the second chorus in a deep voice because it's Wonwoo's part. You can hear Carats deepen their voices in some live performances it's very cute

the home choreo with the house was hoshi's idea. if i remember correctly he randomly came up with it. he is such a genius:)

Home is the only song from SVT that won them the most trophies from korea music programs. It won triple crowns on both Music Bank and M Countdown, meaning it was no 1 on the chart for 3 consecutive weeks on those music shows, and the other 4 trophies came from Inkigayo, Show Champion and Music Core. I really like this song, it brings peace into my soul when I need to listen to something comforting.

I recommend a Japanese song marathon with songs like falling flower, not alone, 24h and so on. Dance practices would be awesome too for this!

45:36 ok so.. back then, i wasnt a carat yet (ulted another grp) but then i discovered this song. it was so good n soothing i legit listened to it every night to get myself to sleep. the message touched me deeply despite not being a fan of them.. after 2-3 yrs i then became a carat n it added an extra layer of attachment to the song. until now it's still one of my most fav titles tracks from svt. i know when they do concepts they fully commit to it, but this song.. the empty parts, the antidrop, the atmospheric feel, the lyrics, the choreo, the mv.. it all ties so well to deliver such a beautiful message. actually it was so good that it won soo many music show awards during its promotions

in my opinion, home has one of the best svt bridges like it really gets me everytime. every. single. time. i listen to the song, and yeah such an underrated choreography (tho tbf they have LOTS of immaculate choreos) the mv + song's production as well were *chef's kiss* aLSO lyrics-wise, home is definitely in my top 5 of all time. what i really really love about svt (esp woozi) is that they have such a beautiful and poetic way in expressing themselves individually and as a team in their songs.

both of these songs were such big points in svts career honestly. getting closer was one of if not the first full "darkteen" concept theyd ever done and it was genuinely insane. the choreo is one of my favourites as well. home was such a gamble in the industry when it was released because of the production choices woozi made - such simple instrumentals for most of the song then an anti drop on top of that. that was like unheard of before home dropped. i really applaud them still for these two tracks even if theyre not my all time favourites goddamn are they proof seventeen can do anything they put their minds to

For me "Getting closer" is THE MOST SICK SONG🔥 of seventeen. Now I wish somehow somewhere you both can watch the fanchant of getting closer because CARATs killed that everytime 💯

'getting closer' is what made me a carat. they performed it during mama 2018. i had no idea who seventeen was but they won me over instantly with 'flower' and 'bring it' and then 'getting closer' sealed the deal. i didnt know that it was unreleased at the time. all my carat friends were freaking out

GOD i remember the way they dropped Getting Closer on us. No mv, nothing. WE SAW IT AT AN AWARDS SHOW (MAMA). i remember watching that entire awards show in full and literally freaked out seeing DarkTeen for the first time. it was so starting especially when Home (title track of the same album) was released and we were back to the seventeen that we knew. Getting Closer basically ended every single carat out there, definitely one of the more memorable MAMA performances that live rent free in my head. Home on the other hand .. when I saw a breakdown of Home's mv and choreo, i definitely started crying. Home is literally the most perfect title for a song with those lyrics and the choreo symbolism was so.. I'm not over it honeslty.

Yeah Home kinda gets me every time, too. And Getting Closer gets me hype and impressed every time. They just are too powerful. Home is a song that really touched me during the Killing Voice, too - one of the songs that sent me slipping on into the Diamond Life. It feels so sincere and vulnerable and comforting all at the same time.

welcome to what i consider the mid-point in SVT’s discography! a fun fact about Getting Closer is that they premiered the song at MAMA and the audience had no idea what was going on. they had Clap but Getting Closer was their first actual “darker” concept at the time so people were shook lol. it was sooo new for them but it still had that SVT stamp on it. fyi the previous album before ‘You Made My Dawn’ was ‘You Make My Day’, they are sisters :)

when I saw the title I already knew that this was gonna be a rollercoaster of emotions. getting closer has to be one of my favorite performances because of how sharp it is and their dark concept wrecks me. home is just.. home. the production, the dance, the lyrics just all gives off a homey comforting feel. Every time I listen to home I have to prepare myself for wonwoos part in the beginning of the second chorus because it's just automatic tears for me as a wonwoo bias. Getting Closer was what sealed me in as a Seventeen fan though i did not "fully stan" them then. Clap was what made me go "oh they are a good group" while Thanks was what made me like them. I only watch MAMA for perfs of groups i like and when they performed Getting Closer i was shooked and hooked! They even literally broke a stage performing Getting Closer hahaha! Also, Getting Closer solidified my Vernon bias. For Home, i really like the lyrics because it really is something else when you find a "home" where you can't only laugh but also cry. I actually think it's harder to find a safe space where you can freely cry so those lyrics always hit for me. Regarding the diamond pattern, they always do that in a lot of choreos. Getting closer to this day is still one of my favorite songs! the production is insane, the choreo?! Also yes Bri Home gets me every single time I listen to it, I was crying along with you all 3 times XD Even without reading the lyrics, just the way they sing it along with the track you can just feel the emotion. I don't know if you have ever heard of it or looked into it but there is a thing called Frisson that some people get when listening to music! (Its the chills/emotion that just happens sometimes when you listen to certain songs.)

SO, SO, SO HAPPY you reacted to Getting Closer!! It's not everyone's cup of tea, per se. It's been said it requires an acquired taste to really like it. HOWEVER, I totally disagree.
