Great video. I Reilly enjoyed it. Could you provide more or an explanation on how you were able to make body line. You were using the hammer and dolly but i'd like an explanation on how that tequnique works. I saw how you used the tape line to help form the body line when sanding.l the filler.

Ithink if you read directions on some newer fillers they say for use over bare metal only . The one I use will stick to any metal. Oldays primer and bondo may have a hard time sticking so Chrysler came up with the epoxy thing In professional shops they dont use it any more they use metal to metal primer. I did not know people still used epoxy until I watched some utube stuff. It is a good adhesion promoter in the old days we used it on new parts and bumpers it would still work for that.
@LakesideAutobody
@LakesideAutobody 9 месяцев назад
Good points Roger - your right most shops go direct to metal - filler and primers - no epoxy 1st. Thanks for your comment :)

Professional RUST Repairer... HQ in MICHIGAN... that is job security!! It's heartbreaking how many late model trucks and cars rot here. : ( Question, and I know nothing about welding, but will water get in that lap joint? Will that be more prone to rust in the future than a butt joint? Why a lap joint over a butt joint on that patch panel? ( just curious, not second guessing a professional). Thank you for all you do and sharing amazing content and videos!
@LakesideAutobody
@LakesideAutobody 11 месяцев назад
Here's a good video explaining in better detail than I could explain here - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JIIonJOVro4.html All or most quality body shops use a combination of lap and butt depending on the area you are welding. Lap for areas where you can tap the seam down butt for more rigid areas like door jambs, rockers, edges, etc. I think lap lasts longer than butt actually - probably cause you can tap the seam down and the filler acts as a buffer between the seam and the finish. You really don't want a seam right under the finish - most likely the seam will end up showing later on.
