DIME has a tutorial that shows to lift the top portion up over the machine without removing. Them you can adjust your quilt and then just place the top hoop back on. Prevents having to completely remove the hoop

Thank you, Bonnie. I love your video. The title of the video is “Magnetic Hoops for Em,broidery - Yes or No?” and it certainly answered my question and then some. There are many other videos going into greater detail on other embroidery subjects which I most certainly will seek. I particularly liked the part about handling and hooping quilts and want to return to it. So in this comment I’m giving myself a hint as to where that begins: 12:26 Hooping.

Thank you for the review i've been wanting a monster hoop! I have a Babylock Ellisiomo BLSO and wanted to know if I can use the the largest hoop because I'm getting into quilting and would like the convience. I'm told my machine has a 7.9" x 11.75" sewing field. Does this matter? As you say they're expensive and I don't want to get more then I can use. Thank you for your show I just discovered you and will be back often. '

I Googled those needles and it looks like they're basically the same type of needle--just different names really. All are flat backed. Two out of the three are definitely 75/11 in size. Here's a good article on comparing the first two: sewingsupplywarehouse.com/organ15x1.html As for the last one, it looks to be an Organ needle made for Brother machines (again flat backed). In Emily’s instructions she tells you to use two sided tape on the top hoop and stick it on the top of your quilt sandwich exactly where you want it. Then it is perfectly aligned and won’t move and from there you can more easily slide the bottom hoop to where it should go. Kind of hard lining up that bottom hoop just right by feel only. Did you try her method? Looked pretty easy in her video.
@SewInspiredbyBonnie
@SewInspiredbyBonnie 6 лет назад
Yes I did use her method (her instructions are easy and very clear), but I still had to feel the bottom hoop to make sure the two hoops were aligned if that makes any sense. While the double sided tape allows the top hoop and fabric to be aligned perfectly, if the bottom hoop isn't just under the top hoop things won't be where they should be. =)

I, too, was so confused-still am on magnetic hoops. Bought 5 x 7 and then 8 x 8. I ask Dealer of Babylock for the Monster 4X's Magnetic and she said it was but nowhere on the box does it say 4 X's as in DIME pictures of the box--just says Monster but floating towels etc. It does still 'scoot around' a bit and yes, you have to hold that hoop if you have to change your bobbin or remove it before you are done embroidering. I, also, am disappointed that for the cost of those thoops it comes with 'paper' measure you stick on and hope you get it right. I did extensive online searching for this product and it comes down to the Letter and Number of the product that will fit whatever machine you're looking for. Again, one came from dealer of my machine and the other online Amazon during Prime deal or Black Friday deal.
@SewInspiredbyBonnie
@SewInspiredbyBonnie 6 лет назад
You definitely want the "4X stronger" on the packaging for the Monster hoop for thicker items like quilting and towels. It holds things the best. I talked with Designs (you can call them and get your best clarifications there) over the phone. I Googled it or found it on the DIME website. I thought going directly to the source that created the Monster magnetic hoops would be my best source of information of which style is best and what to look for in packaging. I was told the "4X stronger" replaced the older models.
@peadee8770
@peadee8770 6 лет назад
Thank you for your response--yes, I realize now that it should have said 4X's stronger now, but, emphasized my question to my dealer 'was this the new one that is 4 X's stronger and she said 'yes'. It was the only one she had and I think wanted to sell it and she knew I wanted it. No where did it say 4 X' strong but had the new picture on packaging. Hope someone else reads this and realizes to make sure it says 4 X's stronger right on the front picture. I bought 2 heavy magnets and use it at top and bottom to help it.
@SewInspiredbyBonnie

Now I understand. I thought you might be saying that but wasn't certain. Thank you for the clarification. =)

Thanks for the quick response. Which one do u use? (needle) Cus your machine is a babyock? I have the brother dream creator 5100. Only difference I believe is mine doesn't have the scanner, but they gave me a mini scanner to use. Oh thanks for the video. Got to get one of those snap hoops
@SewInspiredbyBonnie
@SewInspiredbyBonnie 6 лет назад
The machine behind me is the Brother Dream machine. For embroidery, I normally use a 75/11 sized needle but it really depends upon the fabrics used and such. Needles for BabyLocks and Brother machines (and so many others) are completely interchangeable. Singer machines (older models) use a different needle entirely as do some of the commercial machines or sergers. =)

@cathiewilcock9233 6 лет назад
We know that magnets can wipe computers memories. With that in mind, is it a good idea to use these on our beautiful machines? Aside from that concern, they appear to be a great way of hooping easily & I could be tempted. I'd welcome your thoughts...
@SewInspiredbyBonnie
@SewInspiredbyBonnie 6 лет назад
I had heard the same thing many years ago and asked my dealer back then if there would be a problem. He stated "No". Embroidery machines and computers are similar in some ways and very different in others. There was an excellent article written about magnets and computerized sewing machines (which includes embroidery machines) here: fashion-incubator.com/magnets-wont-break-a-computerized-sewing-machine/ Rest assured, these magnetic hoops will not harm your embroidery machine. They've been on the market for many years now on every brand of machine on the market without issue. Hope this helps put your mind at ease. No worries. =)

If you are pinning all your (sandwich) layers together the fabric before you put in a hoop, I wouldn’t think it would be a problem with the fabric moving.
@SewInspiredbyBonnie
@SewInspiredbyBonnie 6 лет назад
You're right in stating with pins, the fabric sandwich is fairly stable; however, with embroidery pushing and pulling (and sewing faster than regular sewing), there's a slight give that you want to make sure hasn't shifted at all when hooping and aligning one section to the next. Also, all those pins need to be removed prior to hitting "start" on your machine. So while the sandwich is in the hoop, it's no longer pin basted for that section.

Amelie Scott Designs is the name of her company. The founder is Christine Connor and along with her husband, they have perfected the art of quilting with an embroidery program on a layered quilt. I have design book 1, 3 & 6, plus her Military Designs. I have done 10 of her designs on quilts I have made and have had successful results. Although, I do not have a Snap Monster Magnetic Hoop for my Bernina just yet, I do use my Mega hoop and it works quiet well. I have enjoyed Christines designs and how nicely they stick out.
