I always refer back to this video when making king sleeve blouses or shorts that require a sleeve placket ~ it’s absolutely the best video there is on how to do this classy addition to a sleeve. Thank you Angela!
This is a brilliant demo which I found when I couldn’t t follow instructions in a commercial pattern I had bought - just couldn’t make sense of it. Then I found Angela and couldn’t have been happier. As a bonus, her diction is extremely clear and a pleasure to listen to.
I don't sew a lot,but I learned and sewed a blouse cuff for a friend's daughter watching one of your videos and it came out nicely, I couldn't believe it. I always feel confidant to sew, since you teach the lesson clearly from beginning to end on how to do that one part. Thank you so much Angela for your service.
Thank you so much. Sometimes I think I go on a bit! I don't like to leave things out for beginners who are watching and of course it's easy to skip through.
ANGELA KANE Sewing TV "I don't like to leave things out for beginners who are watching" Yes it's true, it's a quality of a teacher who teach it correctly. I think your style of teaching is good for everybody. I like your attractive voice too. :)
these sleeve placket tutorials just saved my week. I was struggling so bad with a "Truly Victorian" pattern and the instructions on the sleeve plackets. english is not my first language and the instructions were not clear to me. but this video (and part 1) really made it look so easy. thanks a lot for saving my blouse that I'm making.
Thank you for making this so clear. I've been a bit nonplussed about plackets in the past but your calm instruction has taken the puzzlement out of it. Thanks again.
THANK YOU Angela! I've done this many times, but not for years and I was blanking at the pattern piece. Your tutorial is amazingly easy to follow Merry Christmas.
I'm getting ready to sew my first ever placket with this tutorial as it's the best one I've come across. Very clear instructions and can't be beat as it comes with it's own template. Thank you. Cross fingers this novice sewer will master this technique!
+Natasha Terran I wonder if you managed to get your placket done? I have just done my first two and found them very difficult, if it wasn't for Angela's video I don't think I could've done it at all. So thanks again Angela.
it seemed so complcated in the beginning, but when I started doing it, I realised that its very very easy! Thank you so much for the video, that its also very beautiful.
Like everything. There are so many different ways to do things and you just have to try things out. I agree this is a nice neat method and I've been doing it for years. Thanks for your comment.
This was a great tutorial! I would love to see a video about doing this on silk / slippery fabric. I always have issues forming the point and keeping everything in place with those fabrics.
thanks a lot Angela, I was in trouble with my pattern burda 7767 for the sleeves, the way they proposed their sleeve placket didn't pleased me at all and I tried a lot of time to make it well but without good results. Thanks to your video, I will sew a beautifull sleeve placket ! Thank you for all.
This was so much better than trying to follow the paper pattern I bought. Thanks so much for the free template. I've tried 4 times and got it wrong every time! Now I think I have got it in my head.
Angela, thank you for your new video. I love watching your techniques even when I'm not involved in a sewing project. You have a wonderful teaching style and I'm looking forward to the new videos you promise! (I'm a member of your site but have not sewed a pattern yet... yes, it would be easier -- perhaps more precise also -- to have the seam allowances included in your patterns!)
This method is amazing!! I was sewing a little shirt for my 8 year-old grandson and the pattern I was following had me do a "continuous lap" for the cuff opening. It looked awful, really bulky & spoilt the shirt. Then I found your tutorial, it was a godsend. The shirt looks really professional now. Thank you so much.
Finally! I tried this placket a few months ago and it was just awful, now I finished it with your help. I already joined through the website a while back...but this is EVERYTHING I needed right now. Thank you sew much. ❤️❤️
@@angelakanetv oh I never thought of it like that, English is not my first language. But nonetheless your tutorial helped me finish my placket. The first placket I tried was from a sewing magazine, and it was not helpful at all
thank you for this tutorial. I have been trying by to do a layered cuff all afternoon on chiffon material. I think I will now convert it to your planket x
Thank you. I use this method for all plackets. It is also great for necklines. You can download the Free Template here if you haven't done so already. angelakane.com/free_sewing_patterns/ Thank you for commenting.
Muchas gracias por compartir sus conocimientos desde que sigo sus videos estoy aprendiendo un montón y dándome cuenta que muchas cosas hacia mal, bendiciones.
I'm enjoying the membership so far, I would very much appreciate a sew-along for a man's shirt. It would be great if you could increase the size range on your website to say 3 or even 4XL, you'd capture most of the male population. I've had to use a Kwik Sew pattern as the ones on the website don't go large enough for me. Many thanks, Colin
Very nicely explained. I would love to see a mens suit sleeve jacket with a placket taken apart then put back together but still keeping the placket on the jacket or maybe even seeing that part of the pattern as it would be different than a shirt placket.
+Ahlam Murshed Hi Ahlam, the shirt placket template is free, just register - angelakane.com/free_sewing_patterns/ Scroll down the page. Thanks for commenting.
Thank you very much for commenting. This all helps to get good recommendations on RU-vid. I plan to put many more of my In-depth tutorials on RU-vid from now on.
Dear Angela Kane, thank you so much for the lesson. I have learnt a lot from your RU-vid posts. could you please upload how to sew Men's shirt as well? Many thanks. Sefanit
Hello sefanit, Have you watched this playlist - ru-vid.com/group/PLU_hpXrimvBeLcSQP88RAHca7cLxLeMWi Although it's aimed at women, the process is much the same. Reverse the front buttoning and apply the Shirt Sleeve Placket.
Thank you Angela. You made that look so easy. Ive never sewn a placket its always looked so complicated in sewing books. Your videos are so clear/concise and I would love to see more free videos on RU-vid. By the way, do you teach sewing in the UK? Also which Bernina machine do you use? Thanks again x
Thank you very much. I am getting myself better organised to do more videos more often. I'm glad you are finding them useful. I only teach online. My Online Sewing Patterns are my main business and the tutorials are a bit of a by-product to encourage sewers. I've been sewing with a Bernina machine since I was twenty-one (a few years ago!) That was a 720 Record and I still use it. I also use a Bernina Artista 200 which I have had for a few years. Most of the features of which I don't use! I'm thinking of upgrading although I don't really need to
This is excellent. I now use this on all my shirts. How would this work if the shirt was lined? I want to make a flannel lined canvas shirt with your sleeve placket. Thanks
bxman Sorry, I'm a bit late with this answer. if your shirt is lined, I would probably treat both layers as one. Your shirt sounds lovely. Have you make it yet>
Angela, I have made a few 'test' plackets with your instruction. It took some practise but I'm getting better at it. Now the problem is that the top placket covers the under placket but the under placket hits the right side (i.e. not centered under the top one). What can cause this?
MsLesset Hi, yes I too made so many test plackets while making this video to get the template right before I published it. Firstly, did you use the template download from my site? angelakane.com/free_sewing_patterns/ It's a free download but you have to register. You have to be super accurate about the slash line and the stitching lines. If you follow exactly, the under placket will be centred. Pay very close attention at 1m 23s of the second video and the folding of the under placket.
ANGELA KANE Sewing TV Yes I used your template, thanks for that, that was great help! And indeed, one has to be very accurate with the machine (i.e. take it slow). I have done quite a few and I nailed it. It also takes a lot of ironing (with the tweezers) but someone could hire me now to make plackets as I consider myself a PlacketMaster! Thanks for your instructions and videos!
Leanne Geurts Thanks Leanne, the PlacketMaster! It's a great method isn't it. I've used this method for years. I did a lot of research and trials to get it just right and to try and explain it easily. It's not logical. It's a 'trust me and do as I say' method :)
Hello Miriam, This pattern is very popular - a sun dress with a button through top - angelakane.com/sewing_patterns/patterns/sun-dress-sewing-pattern-783.php. Also, you can't go wrong with a classic shift - angelakane.com/sewing_patterns/patterns/shift-sewing-pattern-763.php or princess line, panel dress - angelakane.com/sewing_patterns/patterns/princess-line-dress-sewing-pattern-715.php.
Hello Angela, Just love your patterns and free one too, and it would be nice if your patterns included the seam allowances for us, not to old women (65) and love to love clothes and give away to my friends and family......I am disabled, but still try to stay busy, and I love sewing, crocheting, jewelry making, gardening as much as I can......THANK YOU AGAIN.........GOD BLESS FROM FLORIDA
When are you going to make a video showing you're making the men's shirt? I'm married to a big man -- sleeve length: 38", chest: 64", and neck: 22". I know how to lengthen the front and back pieces. Shirts at the big & tall men's shops are quite limited in style and colors. Would you please help me? I would greatly appreciate it.
Hello Lynn, I'm getting many requests for more men's patterns at the moment. I would love to have much more available and I am working on it. Certainly men's shirts are a priority and a good range of sizes would be very popular. I hope you can wait! Thank you for your feedback.
Hi, Yes, I have a sew along series for this shirt. It starts here - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mgHIqY8_sS4.html. It's a bit long winded but goes into great detail. I made it quite a few years ago. I'm a lot more concise these days! Thank you so much for commenting.
