Hi: I've been using invisible polyester thread since the mid 1970's. Yes, I heard all the horror warnings about the thread yellows with age(not true), you can't iron clothes at high heat( really, high heat, I hardly ever iron fabrics and if I do its at low temp.), can't use it in the bobbin case(not true, I've used it as bobbin thread easily). Once I discovered this miracle, I've never bought regular thread, except for metallic thread for decorative stitches, and even there, the bobbin helps with the invisible thread. I have clothes that are easily more than 25 years old, that I've sewn with this thread and I still wear them. Just thought you'd want to know.

You have a great voice - confidence, clarity plus some personality. The item was well explained too. Unfortunately, with some craft vids i cant tell if they’re sleeping or speaking.

I have a Kenmore 385.19110 & I use invisible (clear or smoke) in my bobbin when I sew the binding down on quilts. I have never had a problem with the thread breaking or bunching up. When I wind the bobbin, I wind it very slowly & I only fill the bobbin about half way. I only use polyester invisible thread. Love your videos!!

If you wind your bobbin VERY slowly, it doesn't stretch or wind too tightly. I use the invisible thread in the bobbin and in the needle all the time. BUT - one caveat - if it is for a garment - don't use the invisible thread! (especially the nylon( vs polyester)) kind! The nylon thread (the kind I use at Walmart, feels like wire on the skin! yikes! I haven't tried my Sulky polyester invisible thread yet . . . but when I am making a craft - invisible thread is just so wonderful! and I don't usually want my bobbin thread to be solid color as the whole wonderful point of invisible thread - is it's invisible! yay! Thank you for your tutorial!

Love your videos! One detractor for invisible thread (a salesman for a thread company) claims that invisible thread is not heat safe and will melt with a medium hot or above iron. I know you do a lot of foundation piecing and wonder if you've had any problem with it melting under an iron?

Thank you for making this simple and easy to understand. My machine does fine with Superior Monopoly (invisible) thread with the Tension set at 4. But if I attempt to use the invisible thread when free motion quilting, I see the bobbin thread on top no matter how I set the tension. Any suggestions?
@kimberlynorton
@kimberlynorton 8 лет назад
Thanks. I tried using invisible thread but did not adjust the tension and I placed the thread in the bobbin. My machine was so fussy.

uh-oh....I've been using the invisible thread in my bobbin, too. Why are you not supposed to do that? I haven't had any problem with breakage or skipped stitches. I have been making purses and the invisible thread looks so much better than regular thread, because sometimes I have a hard time trying to find thread that matches the color I'm using. Please tell me why I shouldn't use it in the bobbin, because if there is a solid reason, I have wasted lots of time. LOL

Hi. I have been using invisible thread for a while. Had problems with thread breaking. I thought maybe the thread was old. Bought new thread. Just curious as to what size needle to use. Do I use an embroidery needle in machine or 90/14 quilting needle. Nowhere do you mention what size needle to use. Thanks in advance!

I have a couple of questions if I may. 1. Can you iron over this thread? 2 Can you use it to tie a quilt so that you don't see the little strings?
