I really relate to your tendency to want to just stay home and not socialise. I loved being locked down during the pandemic - perfect excuse to hibernate and sew. The only problem was having nowhere to go in the clothes I was making!

I live in New Zealand and my daughter is in the UK; and inspired by you, I have bought her the Mary Berry's Baking Bible on Amazon for Mothers Day (12th May in NZ). Thank you for the great idea! I really appreciated hearing of your challenges with the pattern and the fabric .... it happens to me just about every project, and I tend to shelve the project for too long before picking it up again. Thank you for the motivation to get back at it.

I also work from home (live on a farm) use to have diary cows and young stock, now corn and soybeans. Cooking and baking for the guys and any "gopher" work, getting parts and supplies. I used to be a paralegal. What a change. For enjoyment, I sew, have made wedding and bridesmaids dresses as well as draperies and clothes for our family and accessories. My grandmother was a seamstress. I so enjoyed your chat about various topics important to you and how you handle them. Thank you.

@marieg2815 from Amazon, I ordered a de-liang bra wooden ironing board mini iron padded sleeve pillow board stool. Love it for pressing sleeve heads.

The blouse looks great 👍 I know what you mean about wanting to just stay home - I actually get really anxious about going out even when it's somewhere I really want to go so I sympathise. With regard to gathering - I don't know if this helps but Sewsarahstyle has a great tip which is to zig zag stitch over dental floss and then you can just pull the floss to gather the fabric - it saves a lot of frustration ❤

Really enjoyed the chatty vlog and thanks for the book recommendations. I am interested in self care and hollistic medicine. I totally understand about needing to get out of the house. I spend a lot of time at home and find myself talking to the pets more these days😂. My first experience didn’t go too well with the Norma blouse as I forgot about the seam allowance, and it turned out too small. I have since made two others, but I did have to lengthen it quite a bit as I found it a little too cropped for me. Love your Anthea❤

Great video - thanks! If I have fabric that I think will be tricky to sew buttonholes in, when I can get away with it I just sew the buttons through both layers, permanently buttoning the garment closed.

Loved this video, I was chatting back to you as I was watching (no I’m not mad, I do know you can’t hear me!) the books look interesting, have you listened to any of the Zoe podcasts? They are good about food and health, nothing faddy but good science without being too much for mere mortals like me to understand. Your blouse is beautiful and so beautifully finished especially as it wasn’t the easiest fabric. Have a great week ❤

I dare not make it wear white one some stunning crushed velvet in white and it's just sat there. For anyone in the uk there is a amazing online fabric store and they have loads of fabrics for £1-2 per meter always fast delivery amazing customer service and amazing quality fabric The blouse is lovly great work

Great vlog Sally and beautiful Anthea blouse❤. Just a thought - have you tried sewing gathering stitches by hand? That’s all I do these days. It’s just as quick really (by the time you’ve changed the colour threads on your machine and changed it back again) I just do one row of doubled thread and can avoid the embroidered parts too. I also find it gathers much easier as well. Try it and see how you get on with it. I feel like you do sometimes and just want to stay home and not socialise. Thanks for sharing. X

I have just traced out the Norma Blouse and I found it really difficult to know which lines to follow too, let alone adding the seam allowance freehand. I don’t have a similar pattern to do instead so I’m trying to stick with it. It will be my first ever blouse and I have purchased some beautiful 100% cotton gingham. Fingers crossed it turns out ok. I totally relate to being happy staying at home away from everyone. Your blouse fabric is gorgeous. If I’d known about the Anthea blouse I would have purchased that instead.

Really enjoying your video this morning. I've lost my sewjo and haven't sewn for the last 2 months. I've never tried to sew with gauze. I've heard that it "grows" as you sew. Have you found this too. I'm on the lookout for cool fabrics because it gets so hot here. Your blouse turned out beautifully. Love watching you sew. Have a great week.

This is a single gauze (I think) so it doesn't have the same stretch and squishyness that double gauze has. I'm not the biggest fan of double gauze if I'm honest. This would be perfect for the hot weather it's so light x

Hi Sally the Whisper blouse is a pattern by Wardrobe By Me I think of all the top patterns I have made this is by far my favourite. I have made them for myself and my daughter and the pattern is designed to make with double gauze which is my favourite fabric.I have made the Norma blouse a few times for my daughter and myself and I love that one to, I made the mistake the first time by missing off the seam allowance but it’s worth doing. 👍x

Hi Sally , just wondering if you sized down 1 size from your measurements or more on your Anthea blouse ? Have seen other versions that people have made and it seems really oversized - not the look I am going for, thanks for any clarity on this

Yes I did, I made the smallest size which is smaller than my body measurements it’s still plenty roomy enough. I would advise checking the finished garment measurements 😊 x

I will probably trace it as my daughter's aren't the same size as me. I already had the same Atelier Brunette fabric as you in my stash and ( I hope you don't mind ?) I am going to copy it as it looks so lovely. It will be made slowly - not doing anything fast just now ! 😂 Best wishes to you and thanks again. Claire
